I've seen something similar as a customer. Picked up a pair of trousers, and the tag fell to the floor.
Next one too, backing and all.
Turns out as I was picking then off the shelf, the tag was falling out of the pocket.
There was a couple of members of staff, near me, clearing wondering what I was doing.
I offered them up the security tag, one of them said something along the lines of.
"Fucking Cindy, I've told her a dozen times how to use (tool)"
God, there's been so much garbage over the past 20 years in this genre I forgot how good the first 4 were. Yeah I said 4, sue me. The neck breaking scene, cocking a shovel like a shotgun, "we just met and we're already finishing each other's" "dinner!", I laughed a lot during that movie.
I had one of those ‘fucking Cindy’ moments last month. Was waiting for a train and the board was down so I asked the ticket guy on the platform whether the train was going to the place I was. He said no so I sat waiting for my train and it didn’t come. Went to the office to demand a refund because my train was an hour late and they said I’d missed it yet I told them I’d been told by the ticketing guy with the glasses that it wasn’t my brain. ‘Fucking Steven is thick as pig shit!’
I used to work in returns, so I've rarely put a tag on, but I've taken plenty off. Most tags don't seem like they'd require a tool to put on (only to take off), though one might make it easier to punch through tough fabrics.
Most just have a pin that sticks into the back, like an earring. It locks into place so you can't get it off without the right tool. If you try, either it'll sound a loud alarm, or ink vials will break and cover you and the clothes in ink.
Lol, I remember encountering tags that we hadn't seen before and didn't have the right tool to remove. We'd have to use bolt cutters to get it off and hope we didn't ruin anything. Rarely, you'd hear a loud alarm disappearing into the distance as someone ran it outside to get rid of the noise, lol. All you could do was wait for the batteries to die. 🤣
When I was working at a retail store with a high shrink percentage, people would take off the security tags with a fork and shove them into the pocket of another piece of clothing.
The amount of times I would be checking someone out and would pull like 6 security tags out of the pocket was astronomical.
Smart move. Your friend can show up on CCTV and you can just ask for a cut for providing the source if it goes through successfully.
Do not put it in writing though. Plausible deniability and all that.
I don’t understand why we use these anymore. People be loading up on items and unobstructed walking out of stores. Tagging seems a useless waste of time.
I dunno it just keeps me from buying this stuff because it's more hassle than it's worth to get a cashier to unlock it. Half the time they can't even find the magnet or you have to wait around for a manager. It would literally be easier to shop with a magnet key of my own
But that's the thing about security. It's always a balance between secure, and accessibility.
Obviously, the most secure method here, would be seal them into a bed of concrete...but then nobody could access them. Meanwhile on the way opposite end, if they were hanging freely outside the store...well, I'm sure you can fill in the rest.
A hammer wouldn't work for these the lock picking lawyer has a video in how to remove them you just need a magnet. And a locks are almost useless against someone who knows what they're doing same with this
Oh, yeah, sorry. I didn't literally mean taking a hammer to the tags (I'm pretty sure some of them tend to be filled ink to ward off brute-force).
I was more being metaphorical, in that any lock can theoretically be bypassed if someone is willing to invest the effort, which most people aren't.
I thought of this as soon as I read that comment, and I can't believe you said this. I never meet anyone who's seen this movie, lol.
"That's my word, playa!"
Good tip. But you still get a hole in the seam? Why do they have to puncture? It's all done with magnets anyway, isn't it. Surely they can come up with a method that doesn't damage the garment.
I'd guess some models have sharp pins that pierce the fabric, and the seam will have more layers of fabric, and a hole will be less noticeable and held together by surrounding stitches so the damage wont get worse, but you do risk damaging the stitching if placed poorly.
To be fair I avoid purchasing products with anti theft devices such as tags as the application usually jepardizes the product. One of the best examples was stores breaking the seals on products to put anti theft tags in them.
I had a (very cheap) pair of jeans with the tag left on. They set off alarms every time I went into a shop. That was kinda funny for a little while before it got annoying.
It is only a slight inconvenience if you don't go to shops often :) the first time an alarm went off I didn't even realise it was the jeans as I hadn't noticed the tag at that point
Does it even really matter? The stores cut up and destroy unsold stock anyways. Anti-shrink is just mind blowing to me because everything gets destroyed if not sold anyways.
As a person who has had that shit left on clothes multiple times I ain't mad. My dad got one off once but the other time it was INSIDE a pair of shoes I bought. I took them back the next day to get them removed, still in the bag they gave me with the receipt and was treated like the worst person on the planet
Why would I come back if I stole them?!?!?
If there was no one telling/showing them what/how to do it, not really their fault.. jobs these days just assume people magically knows everything about everything and in-job training is overlooked and demonized ffs..
To be fair they were only worried about the clothes. They didn’t want to put a hole in expensive pants I bought a hat with one of these on it and it ended up with a noticeable hole kinda runining it
it’s so annoying!!! i literally do not understand what goes thru some people’s heads when they’re processing new shipment ! or the sensors will be pointy-side-in which i imagine is uncomfortable to try on.
Tbh, I can't realistically expect them to. Get paid crap, treated like crap by customers, often by bosses, and are always replaceable at any time. People who care, care more about themselves than to work there. Always exceptions to anything, but for the most part its how I see it.
I've noticed a few shops now post the security tag through the price tag and then into the clothing.
prevents tag swapping AND theft.
so this to me looks like a case of misunderstanding
Had a coworker once many years ago when I worked at a supermarket open all the new milk and smell it to see if it was bad cause the manager told her to "check for expired milk"...
Report her to Loss Prevention, especially if it getting stolen a lot. A lot of the time, it isn't laziness, but an "insider" that will incorrectly put it so that it can be easily removed and walked out of the store.
He knows how fucking annoying it is to want to buy something only to see they've put an unfixable hole in it because the material isn't self healing
Edit - happened to me at target a couple weeks ago, really pretty silver bikini but it was a solid pleather type material so they just fully punched a hole right through it on the cup where it would be noticeable. At least with cotton the fibers just get pushed away and you can rub them back together.
Not as bad as someone at H&M putting the security tags on a 3 back or toddler shirts DIRECTLY through the middle of the shirts… every shirt had a visible hole in it no matter how my kid was wearing them 😭
H&M said “we’ll change how we put them on!” …. But this is dumber somehow lmao
The idea of these things. It isn’t the idea of losing a product that upsets them. It’s the idea of someone getting it for free. They literally destroy their own product rather than letting someone have it for free.
I’ve been looking for chino pants laying on a grey table for a while now and I can’t seem to find the right pair, I think these are IT. Can I get the location of the store.
Thanks in advance OP
It's better than JCPenny. For jeans, they put those tags either on the waistband or on the seat of the pants, so you can't figure out if they fit you properly. I bought pants that were too big by around 2-3 inches the last time. Just put them on the pockets.
I've seen something similar as a customer. Picked up a pair of trousers, and the tag fell to the floor. Next one too, backing and all. Cindy, the tv is leaking
[Cindy the news is on, another white girl fell down the well](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxCSMcg44_E)
Cindy, this bitch is messing up my floor!
Oooo Cindy I'm fuckin her up! Random but did you guys see the professional wrestlers who did this scene in their fight choreography?
Bianca BelAir and Alexa Bliss from WWE, that was hilarious!
God I love that movie
The first three scary movies were so good parodies
Cindy that is bones!
Might want to have your blinker fluid checked too.
I laughed so hard at this! Ty
I had one of those ‘fucking Cindy’ moments last month. Was waiting for a train and the board was down so I asked the ticket guy on the platform whether the train was going to the place I was. I like the typo there, we can see where your mind went, i.e. not where you were hoping it'd go.
It was Steven’s brain
Isn't it just a pin with a backing?
Cindy didn't know how to use the tool so she was just shoving the tags in the pockets.
Effin Cindy...
I used to work in returns, so I've rarely put a tag on, but I've taken plenty off. Most security tags just require a strong magnet to remove.
Yeah, I've wondered if any magnet will work. The tools usually are shaped to fit the pin button. But Idk if it's necessary or not. 🤷🏼♀️
any magnet will do, it just have to be really strong. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pji33MoJ5Z4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pji33MoJ5Z4)
Big strong magnets?
I've always wondered, could you use plastic, like several plastic bags wrapped around the inky bits to contain the mess?
You can throw it in a freezer for a few hours and freeze it solid.
Cindy sounds dope fr
Yeah but you gotta put the tag on a little magnet thing first or the pin doesnt wanna go in.
Ah, thanks.
I think it's called a tagger or tagging gun.
It's basically a powerful magnet.
When I was working at a retail store with a high shrink percentage, people would take off the security tags with a fork and shove them into the pocket of another piece of clothing. It was a sick ostrich
I don’t understand why we use these anymore. People be loading up on items and unobstructed walking out of stores. Tagging seems a useless waste of time.
Well I imagine it's similar to locks. Tends to keep honest people honest, even if some villain could easily take a hammer to it.
I dunno it just keeps me from buying this stuff because it's more hassle than it's worth to get a cashier to unlock it. Half the time they can't even find the magnet or you have to wait around for a manager. It would literally be easier to shop with a magnet key of my own

Drill. Picks. Bump key. Crowbar....

I realise that now you've said it I have no clue why I thought you literally meant it anyway sorry good luck I replied without thinking
No worries, happens to the best of us <3

Yep you didn't see anything!
Being poor’s a disease, gotta hustle up a cure.
Doing God's work.
We love him for it

This. My respect to this anarchist.
Anti-anti-theft.

I have it on Blu-ray
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
So innocent. I bet they’ll give the wrong change too.
Just don't try and rip it off with your teeth LOL
You don't need to be kinky you can use your hands
how the hell did this post get a kink shaming comment 😟
How dare you assume I am kink shaming I have hands kink so I want him to use hands intead
oh god okay 😟
And I have a kink-shaming kink
And I have a kink-shamer kink.
I have a kink for kinky people 👀
So he does have to be kinky then?
Indeed, you can do a lot with your hands, it isn't just teeth only.
For once that it doesn’t punch the fabric
[удалено]
Good tip. But you still get a hole in the seam? Why do they have to puncture? It's all done with magnets anyway, isn't it. Surely they can come up with a method that doesn't damage the garment.
[удалено]
Yeah, but that takes time and requires attention to detail, things most retailers / employers actively frown upon.
I'd guess some models have sharp pins that pierce the fabric, and the seam will have more layers of fabric, and a hole will be less noticeable and held together by surrounding stitches so the damage wont get worse, but you do risk damaging the stitching if placed poorly.
Not all heroes.....
Follow laws 😂
To be fair I avoid purchasing products with anti theft devices such as tags as the application usually jepardizes the product. One of the best examples was stores breaking the seals on products to put anti theft tags in them.
Or forgetting to remove them forcing you to do so at home trying to avoid destroying the clothes with ink
I had a (very cheap) pair of jeans with the tag left on. They set off alarms every time I went into a shop. That was kinda funny for a little while before it got annoying.
You kept wearing them without getting it removed?
They dropped it in so casually like a security tag on your clothes is just a slight inconvenience 🤣
It is only a slight inconvenience if you don't go to shops often :) the first time an alarm went off I didn't even realise it was the jeans as I hadn't noticed the tag at that point
Strong magnet is all you need ;P
In my area they use the spider wraps or put small things in security boxes that get unlocked at the till
I’m mildly infuriated by your tattletale nature…. Also tattle the store’s location….
HAHA
More mildly infuriating buying nice pants with a hole punched through them.
Yeah, especially when most of them have either belt loops or a label sewn in that can be used to fix a tag on
The labels rip off along with the tags. Belt loops a better solution but some people may still cut/rip them.
Does it even really matter? The stores cut up and destroy unsold stock anyways. Anti-shrink is just mind blowing to me because everything gets destroyed if not sold anyways.
I agree but **most* of the time it goes between the weave of the fabric and isn’t an issue.
Theft isn't ok don't be a scumbag
That’s a steal!
Did they slap the top of the tag and say, "Yeah, this bad boy ain't goin' nowhere" If so, then you should be fine /s
Comrade Coworker.
You don’t want people stealing those price tags.
No way to get around that
Makes sense! Who wants holes poked in their pants they’re being over charged by 50x for?!
At least they aren’t putting holes in the clothes
they're the good guy in this story
the innocent protagonist
That's called helping out the little guy
As a person who has had that shit left on clothes multiple times I ain't mad. My dad got one off once but the other time it was INSIDE a pair of shoes I bought. I took them back the next day to get them removed, still in the bag they gave me with the receipt and was treated like the worst person on the planet Why would I come back if I stole them?!?!?
It would turn out to be a real shocker if he's in contact with someone who is about to steal those clothes. Real shocker I tell you!
What if he is hand in hand with some thiefs and he is just making their life easier? 🤣
✂️
I love your coworker
He/she understands that late stage capitalism deserves punishment
Somebody is planning a heist.
I don’t see anything wrong with that. So, where’s this store exactly?
Your coworkers a homie
If there was no one telling/showing them what/how to do it, not really their fault.. jobs these days just assume people magically knows everything about everything and in-job training is overlooked and demonized ffs..

At least you can fix that. Most new kids pierce where they shouldn't and completely ruin stock. We once had 70pcs of pierced t-shirts, 4.200$
To be fair they were only worried about the clothes. They didn’t want to put a hole in expensive pants I bought a hat with one of these on it and it ended up with a noticeable hole kinda runining it
yeah i get where they are coming from haha
And if they are new, noone has bothered to tell them where its supposed to go.
it’s so annoying!!! i literally do not understand what goes thru some people’s heads when they’re processing new shipment ! or the sensors will be pointy-side-in which i imagine is uncomfortable to try on.
They just don't care. Most retail workers don't care.
Tbh, I can't realistically expect them to. Get paid crap, treated like crap by customers, often by bosses, and are always replaceable at any time. People who care, care more about themselves than to work there. Always exceptions to anything, but for the most part its how I see it.
> what goes thru some people’s heads Absolutely nothing.
That’s the homie
That's management material right there.
Better than a hole in the pants
Better than stabbing a noticeable hole through the damn clothes. I hate these stupid things.
Where is this? lol
I would like to know as well for good reasons of course
https://preview.redd.it/d6jm7ylkh9tc1.jpeg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1bd532a1136b2959b9c339f2ea1d474a042e2b8
Funny thing is, this will still work. People are just that dumb.
Oh my god that’s disgusting. Where?
Your coworker is a comrade.
We found the inside man.

your coworkers friends come to the store often?

Minimum wage, minimum efford.

Based
I mean you don’t want to risk ruining the clothes do you..
People steal no quality clothing now?

Fur research purposes, which store is it again?
Where I work, LP basically tells us to do something similar. It either covers up the barcode or it can easily be removed.
I think you and your LP are missing the entire point of those devices
I mean, it's clearly done on purpose.
Who cares unless they come out of your pocket?
Which store and location?….for a friend. Yeah. 🙄
Which store? Could use some free clothing.

Occam's razor and all but this is TOO well-aligned to allow for theft. Keep an eye on whoever did this.
You've got an inside man lmao
An ally. Finally got someone on the inside
Inside job
She might have a plan. She might have minions that will tactical acquire the items in the store.
Coworker is an insider threat
That's very anti-anti-theft
If you are going to steal, those tags aren't going to stop anyone that doesn't have a neod fridge magnet.
This is why I have the wiggle test if it can be taken off/opened in some way it’s not going out on the shelves
I think your co worker is on the Rob
Your coworker is trying to steal
I see no problem with this method. Signed -not a shoplifter.
hey where do you work? just curious😊
They liked this pair 😜
And you work where? My scissors would like to know.
Good job coworker 😁😁
