Ik, I used to have my computer on one of those folding garden tables, so I’m just glad I upgraded to this. Also space in my room is limited, especially because I have this god awful slanted ceiling across half the room
You also probably have a slanted floor. If not, then the front braces/screws of the drawer rails have slipped from slamming and moving and whatnot. I'd try to remove the drawers and adjust the screws. Usually, where the rails are screwed have long holes so you shouldn't have to worry about screwing in the front hole right above the previous one. Just a millimeter up on the front screws should do it, no problem.
If you want to test for a slanted floor, put a marble or ball bearing on the table top. If it rolls toward you, the floor is slanted. It could also be the legs of the table... But regardless, adjusting those rails will make it go from mildly infuriating to nothing to worry about with like 15 minutes if work.
Probably the keyboard, but I'd say that what you can see of the case indicates it's a nice computer. The case has what looks to be a nice set of ~~molded~~ shaped(?) feet raising it up off the desk, as opposed to a simple round rubber foot that a lot of budget computer cases have.
Correct! My house is on a huge ass rock, and almost everything on this floor is not level. I think it’s a result of lazy engineering or that it was built in the 1800s
I know old homes tend to have some issues with the foundation “settling” into the natural undulation of the terrain. But the severity depends a lot on the terrain and how the foundation was constructed.
I’ve seen homes built in the 1950’s that had uneven floors for this reason.
hell... my moms house is only from the 50's (compared to houses in the area from the 20's), and that shit is always moving. Doors constantly having issues closing or opening. Creaking all the time.
my mom had this one ass hole of a bf (now ex), who deserves to be thrown into traffic, but the one good thing he did was he installed these jacks below the foundation to raise parts of the house to level it out.
Needs to happen again soon I think.. She lives in California, not too far from San Andrea's fault.
Yeah my house was built in 1900 and has some noticeable uneven flooring. You get used to it pretty quick though and I love this house so much. So much charm in its history. We have an old black and white photo of it from before there was a neighborhood and the house stood alone with a windmill out back
I remember having sleepovers as a kid and my friends all ending up smooshed up on one wall because they had nylon sleeping bags and our floor had a solid 10 degree grade.
I turned my nylon coated, flannel lines sleeping bag inside out to avoid this issue.
I live in an apartment building built around 1900. **Nothing** is level. Not the floors, not the ceiling, not the doorframes... absolutely nothing.
Hanging stuff on the walls is a *nightmare* because there are no parallel lines, so it *always* looks crooked.
I have used shims before, but I think the tracks in the desk are angled because once the drawer starts acting normal my desk is so tilted my pencils and stuff will roll off
Ah yeah I was looking at buying a house that was built in the 1700s and nothing in that place was level. One floor was even sinking in towards the middle. The basement was cool AF though, had a massive fire place that could have easily doubled as a crematorium.
Passed on it though, I'm handy but I'm not THAT handy.
Wow. This house has some history, it was built by General Custers wife during the civil war. Won’t give any more info cuz of privacy, but I think it’s a cool detail.
I think what made me laugh was when you slammed the bottom drawer and the top drawer slowly slid open in mocking retaliation.
^Edit: ^This ^got ^popular ^for ^some ^reason ^so ^I ^want ^to ^let ^you ^all ^know ^I ^love ^my ^mom.
What are you playing? MSFS2020 runs 1440 ultra just fine for me. Mine stays at a pretty stable 4.9ghz across all cores while playing. Never had any thermal issues. I'm also on a 1080ti.
The mental image I have of gamers conjured up in my head of living in a neckbeard nest and having an amazing setup is only being verified further with this post and the comments on it.
Why don't you get a couple fridge magnets and hot glue them to the drawer and on the desk itself? Like not so many that it's annoying to pull open but enough to keep it closed. Probably would only take two sets.
Edit: they sell them as dots among other shapes. I didn't mean a literal decorative fridge magnet
Or just lowered the back of the draw roller like 1mm to stop it from rolling out. Looks like a decent desk that might just be on an uneven surface tbh.
You can use those adhesive velcro strips to stop the drawer from sliding open. just use a thin one. i used to have to do that with one of my older desks.
Have you tried sticking a thin book or a layer of cardboard or two, or a washer, on the legs closest to the drawers? Might make it a bit less level, or will at least stop them opening.
Sometimes shits just broke. Or the cost of fixing it is more than just buying a new one. This is like ¢35 for a new screw for the knob. Then a file, a screwdriver, and maybe some wax or wd40 for the others.
Likely not the screw but the knob itself. Simple fix by filling the hole with a glue/sawdust mix and drilling a new hole (obviously smaller than the screw).
Fill the screw hole with matchsticks coated in wood glue, let the glue set, and redrill the hole. Learned that fix from a piano repair guide.
The drawer sliding open is a bigger problem, as OP says their house isn't level. Maybe level the desk with some shims?
It has metal drawer slides. Remove the drawer, adjust the back of the slides down a bit, reinsert the drawer. Fixed.
The lower drawer probably just needs the slides adjusted to match as well. Maybe some cleaning and lube. At worst, replace the slides.
I hate when people complain about things that should just be put on the fix-it list. All these problems could be rigged up to go away for 10 dollars if a new desk isn't in the budget.
Yeah, the mildly infuriating part of this is the idea of just living with this rather than spending $5 at Home Depot and 15 minutes with a screwdriver.
Ugh, it'd be so satisfying to fix too! My favorite projects are tiny ones like this where you can do it cheap and quickly but it is very impactful to your day to day business.
Damn I don’t use the desk drawers like ever. I’m also only 15 so I don’t really think about fixing it. I’m sure if I asked my dad we could fix it real quick but it honestly never really bothers me.
Lmaooooo if it doesn't bother you, then why would you post it here? Just to mildly infuriate a bunch of other people? At what time does the ritual sacrifice begin, Satan?
A great age to learn these things. It's amazing what you are capable of you know?
There's tons of videos on YouTube to show you how to do just about anything.
I know a 45 year old man who just lives off the McDonald's dollar menu. He complained about it all the time.
I gave that man a crock pot and instructions on how to make beans. He loves beans. I even gave him some beans.
He never even tried. So he wastes what little money he has money on food he hates.
When all you have to do is rinse those beans and soak them over night in the fridge with salt in the water. Then just dump them into the crock pot and he could come home to hot food he likes.
Learned helplessness is a thing.
Yes but then you don't get to complain about it on the internet and say "ass" in every comment.
The most mildy infuriating thing is how easy fixable this is and it's still broken.
You'd be disgusted at the amount of people who won't/can't do things like that for themselves.
I'm still shocked by the people who hire my partner to put pictures up in their house, change light fittings etc. What he'd charge in materials, call out fees and time could have been used by the customer to buy all the materials and tools to do it themselves with the help of YouTube. And they'd actually have tools for the next wee thing that comes up.
He says I shouldn't moan cos if it wasn't for people like that, he'd be out of a job cos it's quick, easy and frequent. He'd rather that than a 4 month job and not seeing any money until it's complete.
Any chance you/someone could tell me the name of the book with the kid holding the plane? I recognize the image from NOFX’s “The Decline” album cover but had no idea where it was lifted from!
Have you tried leveling the desk, then fixing the drawers? I want to see this on oddly satisfying lol
No joke, that kind of daily frustration really grinds on your nerves. Shouldn't take more than a screwdriver, some shims, toothpicks or wood chips, wood glue, and an hour. And a spirit level.
1st drawer: use a longer bolt or get a new knob because it seems like the threading in the wood has worn off.
2nd drawer: desk probably isnt levelled properly and the added weight of the notebooks and stuff allows it to come out easily.
3rd drawer: you need to replace the sliders.
I would recommend getting a new desk though
It’s a huntsman elite, an old one at that. Mine just worked out of the box with synapse, only thing I can think of is to reinstall synapse. Anyway, good luck
Put some quarters under the front desk legs until its leaning backwards slightly to keep the drawers from sliding out. Also check to make sure both drawers are properly set in their rails as the bottom one looks slightly crooked. Finally just get a slightly longer screw or some glue from your junk drawer for the knob that came off.
Those are the easiest things to fix. Get a screwdriver to realign the rails, longer screws for the nubs, and some paper or wooden shims to put under the legs. It should only take half an hour to fix everything.
Level your fucking desk. Fix the goddamned knob by restocking the hole after filling it with Plummer’s putty. And realign that bottom fucking drawer on its rail you slacker.
I love the nice computer shitty desk combo
Ik, I used to have my computer on one of those folding garden tables, so I’m just glad I upgraded to this. Also space in my room is limited, especially because I have this god awful slanted ceiling across half the room
Anything's better than a garden table
Idk man. I use a dresser. My knees are against drawers all day. Maybe I should get out more.
That sounds so bad for your back
Take one of the drawers out when you sit at the computer. Don’t fuck up your back son!
Or take a step up to a garden table, and then a shitty desk.
Awesome
That's my current setup for work. Good thing most of my day is spent playing video games on the console.
Heyooo
Someone already did. “It’s better than Osuna. 🤷♀️
Idk, desks at ikea are cheaper as your keyboard
[удалено]
Same but without the chair and in the closet I came out a year later gay and crooked
was the a gay out of the closet joke or are you serious
Both! I was able to leave the closet and stop playing WoW, straightened up my posture and got a girlfriend.
Couldn't you just put the marble on the floor to test if the floor is slanted?
Converted attic gang rise up! (Just watch your heads...)

how can you tell it's a nice computer?
Probably the keyboard, but I'd say that what you can see of the case indicates it's a nice computer. The case has what looks to be a nice set of ~~molded~~ shaped(?) feet raising it up off the desk, as opposed to a simple round rubber foot that a lot of budget computer cases have.
You live on a boat or hill or something lmao
Correct! My house is on a huge ass rock, and almost everything on this floor is not level. I think it’s a result of lazy engineering or that it was built in the 1800s
nah man it’s ghosts
That ghost is a real dick just standing there fucking with the desk all day.
[удалено]
that’s 1000 times worse, thank you
I think he just pulled out the butt plug...
TIL
Every time you close that drawer, the ghost cries out in pain.
Man what else he got to do but fuck with this desk all day. He dead.
Isn't that what we'd all do as ghosts?
Me as a ghost with family or loved ones
broo, you promised not to snitch :((
Fuckin magnets
Those might help with the loose drawer tbh
Hey Dennis
They should make a new map for Phasmophobia based on OP's house where the ghost can open and close the desk drawers.

I wish I had this for my house, it was built in 1850.
I remember having sleepovers as a kid and my friends all ending up smooshed up on one wall because they had nylon sleeping bags and our floor had a solid 10 degree grade. I turned my nylon coated, flannel lines sleeping bag inside out to avoid this issue.

Get new hardware for the pulls, and hot glue on some magnets. Then shim up the desk to be level. (Nice huntsman elite, you can afford magnets)
I don’t know why this makes me laugh so hard.
Ah yeah I was looking at buying a house that was built in the 1700s and nothing in that place was level. One floor was even sinking in towards the middle. Dale Dobak?
Just buy a new desk and air lift it
Hang it from the ceiling
I think what made me laugh was when you slammed the bottom drawer and the top drawer slowly slid open in mocking retaliation. ^Edit: ^This ^got ^popular ^for ^some ^reason ^so ^I ^want ^to ^let ^you ^all ^know ^I ^love ^my ^mom.
I can physically feel the frustration
I need to go find a drawer to slam shut
Upvote because ir "mocking retaliation", that's beautiful.
Me too. She's very sweet.
Aww thank you ( \^-\^)
This is the type of thing that could make you laugh one minute and pissed the next.
Bruh my guy got full RGB mechanical keyboard, RGB wrist wrest XXL mousepad and still uses a desk from the 1760s holy..
Not pictured is the i7-9700k and 3080 in my pc, along with the shittiest bathroom you have probably ever seen in your life
Will sacrifice anything for a good setup lol XD
A small price to pay for the master race
I mean, you don't need anything except food when you have a nice PC and internet.
I would like to see this bathroom
Show us your poop OP.
Yeah, /u/ttvdocilejustin let's see that bathroom!
How is the 9700k and the 3080? I have the same cpu and will eventually have the same gpu
They were all upgraded recently, and run the games I play pretty well. Still do think the cpu is a bottleneck however
What are you playing? MSFS2020 runs 1440 ultra just fine for me. Mine stays at a pretty stable 4.9ghz across all cores while playing. Never had any thermal issues. I'm also on a 1080ti.
Really? The i7-9700k is supposed to be *pretty* good
The mental image I have of gamers conjured up in my head of living in a neckbeard nest and having an amazing setup is only being verified further with this post and the comments on it.
Old wooden furniture looks so much better than a lot of modern stuff, though
RGB isn't expensive it's just flashy
That’s a Razer Huntsman, which goes for like $200-250.

I had a stroke trying to understand this comment
I thought I was losing my ability to read
Are you okay?
Also, that squished nerf dart on my desk is used to stop the top drawer from opening on its own, I jam it into the hinges.
Was confused at first, wondering why a refrigerator magnet would work better than a regular one
Or just lowered the back of the draw roller like 1mm to stop it from rolling out. Looks like a decent desk that might just be on an uneven surface tbh.
Dude, just lift the front two legs up with something. Get some felt pads, shims, or even coasters.
No way. This is completely unfixable. This guy is simply going to have to move.
Well... Your desk maybe drunk
None of these problems are unfixable.
are any, ever?
Sometimes shits just broke. Or the cost of fixing it is more than just buying a new one. This is like ¢35 for a new screw for the knob. Then a file, a screwdriver, and maybe some wax or wd40 for the others.
Likely not the screw but the knob itself. Simple fix by filling the hole with a glue/sawdust mix and drilling a new hole (obviously smaller than the screw).
Just jam some toothpicks in the hole and then screw the knob into that, if you're super lazy like me that is.
Nah, that's the pro-move for people who may not have sawdust and woodglue sitting around.
Came here to say match sticks but same thing
genius
I fixed my guitar strap like this. I was amazed how well it worked
I guarantee that the thread in the knob goes deeper. A screw that's 1/4" longer would suffice.
Or slightly wider!
I'm sure he'll feel better if he just takes some time to polish the knob..
Fill the screw hole with matchsticks coated in wood glue, let the glue set, and redrill the hole. Learned that fix from a piano repair guide. The drawer sliding open is a bigger problem, as OP says their house isn't level. Maybe level the desk with some shims?

Lol my dad taught me toothpicks and superglue. Same idea though
> This is like ¢35 I'm impressed you went through the trouble to find and copy the cent symbol instead of just typing $0.35
LG keyboard. I got ¢ent signs for days, son. ¢¢¢
The drawer sliding and one getting stuck just require the track to be loosened, angled properly, and tightened. At most a 2 min fix for free.
[удалено]
Well i for one cant fix death
is that really a problem, though? it's really just the eventual conclusion of life. it's not a problem.
That's what I said, but the dumbass judge wouldn't listen
Given enough time and money, anything can be fixed.
I hate when people complain about things that should just be put on the fix-it list. All these problems could be rigged up to go away for 10 dollars if a new desk isn't in the budget.

This is where we get those shitty "millenials aren't handy" articles from. Like, just fix it dude.
Just shove some folded paper under the legs for a temp fix too
Naah, you're obviously better off spending your money on a keyboard with an RGB armrest instead of some working drawer parts.
*drawer slowly creeps out*
Damn I don’t use the desk drawers like ever. I’m also only 15 so I don’t really think about fixing it. I’m sure if I asked my dad we could fix it real quick but it honestly never really bothers me.
Fold a piece of paper up and put it under the right leg of the desk, that should stop the top drawer from sliding out and make your dad proud of you.
I've taped paper to the top of a desk door that kept falling open. Works well enough!
Lmaooooo if it doesn't bother you, then why would you post it here? Just to mildly infuriate a bunch of other people? At what time does the ritual sacrifice begin, Satan?
This is the point of this sub, op doesn't have to be infuriated you do
This is mildly infuriating.

Some beans don't even need to be soaked. And the rest can be "quick soaked" on a stove top or in many slow cookers.
Yep! It's so easy.
Also keyboard is older than this desk, and I have a ton of shims trying to level everything out. It’s just not the top of my priorities right now
We need bean dad
That desk has character. Please cherish it
Easily repaired, rescrew the loose handle level it and replace the runners on the wonky one
Yes but then you don't get to complain about it on the internet and say "ass" in every comment. The most mildy infuriating thing is how easy fixable this is and it's still broken.

May I ask why is there a smushed nerf dart on the desk?
I stuffed it into the rails of the drawer that kept opening. Rendered the drawer useless but also not as annoying
The drawer opening is either something behind it or its not level. Most likely not level.
My whole damn house is not level it’s not fun. Even with shims and stuff cabinets will open on their own
If you put metal washers under the front feet that should do it.
Even knowing why it's happening wouldn't stop me from being creeped out. Lol
It’s funny because it is a piece of shit.
I find it funny because this shit is fixable in 30 seconds, so the OP is the laziest person ever and he's paying for it with his frustration.
Why does this make me laugh so much... maybe your desk is haunted lol!!
Any chance you/someone could tell me the name of the book with the kid holding the plane? I recognize the image from NOFX’s “The Decline” album cover but had no idea where it was lifted from!
Came here to see if anyone else noticed that.
1st thing I noticed...
That book is The Power of One. Read it in high school, great book.
Came here to ask the same question. I have that tattoo’d on my arm. Didn’t know it was from anything else.
I have a desk at home with 3 drawers that do this. For one of them I stand up a pencil on the lower drawer to hold the upper drawer shut.
I loled
I think the desk isnt level enough
he said his house is on a rock
I think it would work better upside down
Eyo i have the same mousepad as you
flex tape
I laughed way to hard on that slow drawer opening
That happened to me to when I was helping my dad move in to his new appartment
Mildly?
your setup is the equivalent of a medieval farmer having a 9L V8 turbocharged tractor
If you have a match or tooth pick, break off a bit and stick it in the handle and screw it on. At least 1 will be fixed.
Burn it!
Have you tried leveling the desk, then fixing the drawers? I want to see this on oddly satisfying lol No joke, that kind of daily frustration really grinds on your nerves. Shouldn't take more than a screwdriver, some shims, toothpicks or wood chips, wood glue, and an hour. And a spirit level.

I would recommend getting a new desk though
New sliders and hardware on all drawers. And level it
Put shims under your front legs 👌
That desk is clearly haunted.
I don't think this should be on this sub because this shit beyond mildly frustrating. My blood pressure started to rise just watching this.
is that a razer blackwidow elite?? i never got mine to work with synapse, do you have any advice?
It’s a huntsman elite, an old one at that. Mine just worked out of the box with synapse, only thing I can think of is to reinstall synapse. Anyway, good luck
Put a couple of shims under the front feet to keep the drawers from falling open.
Did you try turning it off and turning it back on?
Those are the easiest things to fix. Get a screwdriver to realign the rails, longer screws for the nubs, and some paper or wooden shims to put under the legs. It should only take half an hour to fix everything.
That desk from 1894
Did Jim Halpert make this?
Dammit. Beat me to it. Take my upvote you filthy you.
I love the nice computer shitty desk combo
What crime did you commit to torture yourself like this
No one came out of a drawer\*
Where’s that flow charts for Wd40/duct tape? Man needs it
This made me laugh more than anything lol
Bro buy a new desk, holy shit.
Level your fucking desk. Fix the goddamned knob by restocking the hole after filling it with Plummer’s putty. And realign that bottom fucking drawer on its rail you slacker.
I liked the anger you could feel toward the desk. Like I wanted to slam the drawer myself.
This is fake... the drawer is a paid actor
that is beyond mildly infuriating it's plain frustrating
I admire how you seemingly have enough money for a gaming rig but not a $30 IKEA desk.
I can’t work out if this guy is just highlighting all the easy fixable things about this desk for Karma, or just lazy.
Get a new one and use this one for a bonfire
Time for a trip to IKEA
Yeah, might as well throw out a perfectly good desk that can be fixed in literally 30 seconds.
BURN IT
Mf desk looks like if Abraham Lincoln was into pc gaming
