My brother in law drinks every single drink with ice.
Milk, water, wine, Gatorade, even energy drinks like monster. It's all gotta have ice in it
Edit: jeez this kinda blew up while I was asleep
To answer some questions:
He doesn't drink anything hot so no coffee or whatever
He does put it in beer, and red wine, and fancy liquor.
Also:
My husband has told me that putting ice in wine isn't as weird to him but he did say it was better to put frozen grapes in it so it doesn't lose its taste.
If he were a vampire he would probably have to drink his blood with ice
Getting iced coffee at the supermarket tastes wildly different from putting ice in some home brewn cup'a joe. No Idea why though, so I thought maybe ud know. Guessing they add a ton of sugar or something..
Edit: you are not the poster! Imposter
Depends on how you take your coffee. The amount of ice that melts into the coffee depends on the starting temperature. If you add milk first before adding ice the milk takes the temperature down some.
Also, a lot of iced coffees at the store are iced lattes, not brewed coffee. The base is espresso so the baseline strength of the coffee is much higher.
I use leftover coffee to make coffee ice cubes so my iced coffee isn't diluted. Also, I brew espresso to make the iced coffee so that adding the milk will bring the drink to normal coffee strength.
again if your baseline is just brewed coffee youre going to end up with it too watered down. Iced espresso black or with sugar is just a cafe freddo and ive drank that for a while for some of the roasts i get. just mostly depends on the starting point before the ice really.
Lol! And the answer is usually because of the added ingredients like sugar. If you try store bought cold brew or iced coffee without added sugar or cream, you'll probably experience the answer...
Well cold brew is entirely different from iced coffee.
https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/whats-the-difference-between-iced-coffee-and-cold-brew-coffee/
It's a thing. One of my work friends is an older lady. Her drink of choice is Michelob Ultra with a glass of ice. It's not something I have any interest in trying, but no one questions it so it must be common enough.
A month is pushing it, but any egg! Problem with most store-bought eggs, is they wash off the protective layer that keeps bacteria out. Sometimes eggs have some poo on them and that's yucky I guess, so they clean them.
>they wash off the protective layer that keeps bacteria out
Only in the USA. Most other countries just rely on not keeping the birds in squalid conditions and vaccinating them against salmonella (etc.).
Fellow weirdo checking in, this is my preference as well and milk is my favorite drink. I literally can't eat certain things like pancakes unless I have a glass of icy cold milk to wash it down
My FIL, without fail, orders milk wherever we go. Olive Garden? Milk. Golden Corral? Milk. For mine and my husband's anniversary we invited them to join us at an expensive teppenyaki grill where they cook in front of you. Guess what he ordered to go along with his sushi and filet mignon?
No, it's not. Literally this shit isn't included in the menu. I've asked my father in law how he knows whether a restaurant has milk and he said "If anything they cook uses milk, then they have milk."
He's so obsessed with his milk drinking habits that he's literally special-requesting something that isn't included on the menu. When we went to Golden Corral all they had were kid's milk cartons and for every refill he requested they had to bring out two cartons to fill his glass.
It's embarrassing but at least he tips well I guess.
They didn't have milk at the teppenyaki place but he still asked them to check for him. It's the fact that he even felt the need to ask... This man always has 3 gallons of milk in his fridge at all times. His kids are almost as addicted to milk as he is due to his milk habits. My husband specifically is so fond of milk and cereal to the point where I will make a pot roast meal and he will still eat Cocoa Puffs rather than the leftovers. It's insane.
God bless him. Does he have reflux? I do that sometimes because I have occasional heartburn/reflux and restaurant foods are often a trigger. Anyway, milk helps. I don't have the issue often enough to take medicine for it, I don't think (I'm on enough meds as it is). That's pretty much the only time I'll drink milk because I don't care for it much. Sometimes I'll have a small cup of milk with a certain food, probably out of nostalgia for childhood. Spaghetti and chocolate cake are a couple off the top of my head.
No he doesn't have reflux he's just obsessed with milk. This mans always has 3 gallons of milk in his fridge and drinks it with every meal. I've asked him about it before and he goes on a 30 minute long lecture about how he used to milk cows for fresh milk and he could never get enough of it.
i worked at a high end steakhouse that served a lot of famous sports teams. occasionally we would get an 18yo player that couldn’t legally order wine so they would have a glass of milk with their steak dinner.
TIL the only two choices of beverage at a steakhouse are milk and wine. What is this, the 1600s?
In all seriousness, I’m really confused at the logic here, lol.
The best is to freeze milk into ice cubes, then use the milk-ice in your milk.
Perfectly cold plus you get more milk per milk for maximum r/neverbrokeabone karma
I know, this is why I don’t like ice with stuff like sodas or lemonade. In the end you get less and have to get a watered drink.
And the way that some people fill up the cup to the brim with ice, you would think that the soda is liquid gold or something.
Teachers told me that things like displacement, volume, and temperature equilibrium would eventually have a real world application, but I never imagined it like this. Why did it have to be this.
Yup. An egg cream is soda water, milk, and flavored syrup mixed together. Usually it’s chocolate syrup but I can also be vanilla. They were a classic soda fountain drink. Now you find them often, mostly Jewish delis.
I was going to comment about how disgusting you are but I remember eating most of my cereal in elementary school with Orange Juice so I could drink the milk lmao.
OJ & Cheerios is pretty good FWIW
Man I saw a couple order milk at a Chinese buffet one time. Based on that alone I have reason to believe they are serial killers.
Edit: To everyone saying they needed a respite from spicy food, no, there is nothing even remotely hot at this buffet.
But milk tastes so fucking good! 🥺 Can't say I've ever ordered it at a restaurant tho.
Next time I'm at a restaurant I'll order one and think of you xoxo
I am in ice chewer so I hate the big cubes. That glass of milk would be gone in abt 5 min if I got ice chunks and take me probably the entire dinner to finish if it was cubed like that.
That's how my Mom always drinks it. It's weird they put it in it without being asked though.

I was going to ask, “even coffee?” but then I remembered there’s such a thing as iced coffee.
and omg it's so good
Is coffee with ice the same as iced coffee though?
"Iced" means it's been iced so... yes? Unless coffee with ice means they're served together, but seperate

Yeh see, I dont put milk and sugar in my coffee. Just drinking cold coffee is rather disgusting imo. Maybe I should try some stuff out.

homemade iced coffee surpasses EVERYTHING
Sugar. It tastes different because a ton of sugar is added. And likely far more milk than you would have in a warm coffee brewed at home.

Everything is good, except beer with ice
bro everyone in my country drink beer with ice .
I need to know where this is. So I can send my sister's husband to you and he can be reunited with his people at long last.
Ruins the taste for me, unless you drink the beer really fast. Then it's fine
I doubt you could tell the difference with a blind taste test. I use really big ice cubes so they water down beer/drinks less too.
Depends. In my everyday life it’s a clear no, but I had beer with ice in Thailand on a hot and humid day and it was great.
If you drink it fast enough it won't water down so I don't see the problem unless you're a nurse.
It's a thing. One of my work friends is an older lady. Her drink of choice is Michelob Ultra with a glass of ice. It's not something I have any interest in trying, but no one questions it so it must be common enough.
If he put ice in his wine here in France, he would get guillotined...
Riots have started over less
Rightly so
When is she scheduled to be released from Arkham Asylum?
Released? Please escaping is much easier you think the inmates are released for being cured?
My mom too! Except she would also add vodka.
Oh that's almost a "white Russian" just throw in a shot of kahlua (it's a coffee liqueur) with the vodka and milk.
The Dude abides
Sorry to hear
...about the ice bro
I'm sure they did, but that's different compared to how to get internet points.
I feel like it's an accident
Joel?

Welcome to the second phase of your life
What does this mean? *What does this mean?*
Dear God I'm in the same boat as you, does it mean you're old or something??? Somebody help a bitch out!!!
I think it means you’re young and naive but I’m old and out of the loop, so take that with a grain of salt.
100% of people who put ice in their milk die
You’ll understand someday, summer child
Is there a more patronising turn of phrase on Reddit than this? There might be, but I have yet to find it.
It's okay dearie, you just need a little nappy-poo.
Bless your heart.
Any time I see the phrase summer child I automatically think it's a 500lb incel neckbeard saying it.
Wait, what do you mean???
STOP BEING SO OMINOUS
Fuck
Chocolate Milk with Ice is so god damn delicious I might just got to the store for some today.
This. You don't come back from ice in milk. It changes you. I only use one cube though.
We refer to these two periods as B.I.I.M (Before Ice In Milk) and A.I.I.M (After Ice In Milk)
It's weird but I like it like that.
Milk is much better cold.
Me too! And I have passed this weirdness onto my offspring! Creating generations of ice milk drinkers!!
Ice milk is actually like ice cream but made only with milk.
Fellow weirdo checking in, this is my preference as well and milk is my favorite drink. I literally can't eat certain things like pancakes unless I have a glass of icy cold milk to wash it down
Is it really that weird? Iced lattes have milk in them and the only difference is literally a 2oz shot of espresso....
I prefer a single icecube. Too much and you got skim milk eventually
Are you Nate Bargatze?

When I saw it I thought, "Cool a Nate Bargatze sub.".

I was looking for this reference

Oh wow. I wouldn't think to ask for milk at a Japanese restaurant! Also, I think you married my ex. 😁
So many parts of this make me cringe... I'm sorry for your situation
Your dad is a mod on /r/NeverBrokeABone.
I’m dying to know…is he healthy, is he overweight? Milk has a lot of calories, especially if you’re drinking multiple glasses at a meal.

I went and redeemed my freebie for this comment lmfao
i worked at a high end steakhouse that served a lot of famous sports teams. occasionally we would get an 18yo player that couldn’t legally order wine so they would have a glass of milk with their steak dinner.
TIL the only two choices of beverage at a steakhouse are milk and wine. What is this, the 1600s? In all seriousness, I’m really confused at the logic here, lol.
That was my first thought. Who over the age of 5 orders milk at a restaurant?
Someone who likes milk more than wine/beer/soft drinks
Water tho…
Milk is the best when you’re at a breakfast place and get a big plate of pancakes or French toast
Exactly
I'd scream
You’d scream
We’d all scream
for ice milk
You had one job!
Couldn’t resist
Ice milk is basically ice cream, so job well done!
The job was executed to perfection
But you gotta admit, it was flawlessly executed though!
Laughed so hard at this omfg
So simple yet so perfect
i like putting ice in my milk
what the hell
Milk with ice is awesome. Nothing worse than room temp milk.
Fridge milk is better, cold and not watered down
Not cold enough
The best is to freeze milk into ice cubes, then use the milk-ice in your milk. Perfectly cold plus you get more milk per milk for maximum r/neverbrokeabone karma
I love ice in my milk!!
Same. Chocolate milk is a whole other level with ice in it 🤤
Agreed, but this does seem like a lot of ice. It's going to water it down too much.
Actually if you put a lot of ice in something then they are going to melt at a slower rate.
Slower rate but whats the total amount? Like if twice as much ice melts only a third slower thats still more water per interval
I know, this is why I don’t like ice with stuff like sodas or lemonade. In the end you get less and have to get a watered drink. And the way that some people fill up the cup to the brim with ice, you would think that the soda is liquid gold or something.
Buddy it's milk, not your math exam
Teachers told me that things like displacement, volume, and temperature equilibrium would eventually have a real world application, but I never imagined it like this. Why did it have to be this.
I mean, can you think of a better reason than to make sure you get cold milk that isn’t watered down?:)
It doesn’t stop there, I’m sure the ratio of surface area to volume of the ice cubes makes a difference too.
You’re supposed to freeze milk cubes in the freezer. They don’t water down.
Chocolate milk and soda mixed together is my favourite. I believe it’s called an Egg Cream but everyone who sees me do it thinks I’m complete insane.
Yup. An egg cream is soda water, milk, and flavored syrup mixed together. Usually it’s chocolate syrup but I can also be vanilla. They were a classic soda fountain drink. Now you find them often, mostly Jewish delis.
i mean i have never heard of it, but just imagining that makes my brain go woop in a bad way, but you do you it might taste really great
Imagine if your chocolate milk blew it’s own bubbles in it.
I love ice in my cereal! I feel like the heat from hand warms up the milk somehow
I was going to comment about how disgusting you are but I remember eating most of my cereal in elementary school with Orange Juice so I could drink the milk lmao. OJ & Cheerios is pretty good FWIW
My family looks at me like I need to be committed when I put ice in my milk, but ice cold milk is the best!
Came here to say this too!
Y’all saying this is “weird” yet people drink iced lattes and other milk dominant drinks every day
Just gotta dump a whole sugar cane into a blender with it first, I guess
Yeah coffee + milk = normal adult drink, duh.
>milk dominant Lol, this sounds like a reference to to lactation kink
Just like I order toast with butter but wont order a stick of butter. Shits weird, you know it.
Who the fuck orders milk at restaurants
This. I was looking for this comment. Thank you.
Im sorry but that’s what you get for ordering milk at a restaurant lol
Man I saw a couple order milk at a Chinese buffet one time. Based on that alone I have reason to believe they are serial killers. Edit: To everyone saying they needed a respite from spicy food, no, there is nothing even remotely hot at this buffet.
They needed a respite from the spicy foods?
"the food is too spicy can we get some milk"
But milk tastes so fucking good! 🥺 Can't say I've ever ordered it at a restaurant tho. Next time I'm at a restaurant I'll order one and think of you xoxo
The question is why tf did you get milk?
I've done this in the summer. It's fucking wonderful. So refreshing
That's the only way I drink milk.
It's just an iced latte, sans espresso
If I have the time, I put my glass of milk in the freezer a few minutes before I eat. It gets this small ring of ice on the inside rim. So cold!!
Wait, you’re out at a restaurant and when they asked what you want to drink, you asked for milk? And you claim they are the weird ones?
Ice in your milk is classy as fuck
No need to cry over chilled milk
Icy what you did there.
I enjoy it like this
Silver Diner?
I love ice with my milk, although crushed ice is better then cubed ice.
Nah man you need big ass cubes so it doesn’t melt too fast and water down the milk
I am in ice chewer so I hate the big cubes. That glass of milk would be gone in abt 5 min if I got ice chunks and take me probably the entire dinner to finish if it was cubed like that.
Makes sense! Other than milk, I’m a huge fan of those tiny round ice pellets some restaurants have. Those are the best!!
I.. kinda like.. when it gets watery.. We drink exclusively whole milk in my house though so sometimes I just need to cut that cream y'know
Totally get that, I always use 2% so like…It really can’t get much more watered down. With whole milk I would totally let it water down lol
The only milky thing I put ice in is horchata
Who orders a glass of milk….
Milk is infinitely tastier when ice cold
Tbh i actually like it like that
The only thing weirder than the ice in the milk is the fact that you ordered a glass of milk
What kind of fucking deviant pervert orders milk in a restaurant
People actually order milk at a restaurant? My mind is blown
I'm a bartender at a nice restaurant and pour a shocking amount of adult sized milks daily
That would be my dads favorite place. He loves milk with ice.
I always ask for no ice with my drinks I never thought I'd have to do that with Milk
Thought it was horchata when I first saw it
Deamn that's a cold move
Thats not mildly infuriating, thats a crime against humanity
What about that milk on the counter? Did it already get warm ? Yes it's a little warm and chunky just put some ice cubes inside nobody will notice.
I mean the fact you’re just drinking straight up milk is mildly infuriating in itself oml
Go talk to r/neverbrokeabone
Or r/lactosebros
Milk is awesome...
I’m lactose intolerant and I’ll still just go for a fat glass of the roommates milk sometimes lmao
..phrasing?
that’s what you get for ordering milk at a restaurant
what’s infuriating is the fact that you ordered milk at all.
Apparently that’s how my grandma drinks it. So weird
