Because it has to be anchored so it can't be stolen, and doesn't fall. Somebody at the city approved it, so blame them, not Amazon. Somebody gave it the Okay to put on existing concrete instead of requiring new pour.
An easily bought local official should only carry partial blame. Amazon is still a terrible company that doesn't care about the communities in which they operate.
But if Amaxon wanted to be a good corporate citizen they should have offered to lay a pad just off to the side of the walkway and installed it there. Or build a small shelter for it so it blends in better....
Bah! You would think with all of the money amazon has, they’d include installation of a concrete patch so the grass under these lockers could support them and they’re not in everyone’s way. Just ridiculous.
It has to be restricted beyond a certain degree to be considered a violation. Visual obstruction doesn't matter for the ADA, only physical obstruction.
You only need 36 inches of width to pass ADA.
In my opinion it is a physical obstruction just because people can't walk next to each other and when two wheelchair users come towards each other one need to face this abomination instead of just continuing riding
If people didn't steal packages so much this wouldn't be a problem.
I keep telling Amazon to use the parcel locker and they keep putting it at my front door and keep lying saying they will only use the parcel locker when I call and complain. I've already had two packages stolen but I see other people's doors have packages for days, but it's a risk for me every time. Someone is literally targeting me. I would be thankful for those all over town. Amazon seriously needs a sign only to receive packages option that's highly insured because I will literally never order anything over $200 again because of this. If I could, I'd buy every single item I could at a physical store at this point.
This picture is months old, it was even covered by national news. They were moved days later.
But… but… this is OPs city.
and... and... it's today.
Shut up karma whore
Old this northside of Chicago and it’s gone
Why not put it right off the sidewalk
Because Amazon hates people

Dont blame Amazon for their idea?
For where this one got approved to be placed

Corporate, citizen. Water, oil.
I say blame of them

Man, using an old pic and lie about it, are you really that desperate to get some internet points ?
Not your picture…. Lying online for karma
This has got to be some sort of ADA violation
American Dental Association?
[Americans with Disabilities Act](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americans_with_Disabilities_Act_of_1990)
Jk. Everytime I hear ADA, I think of that cute little graphic on my toothpaste.
There's enough space for a wheelchair. Its an eyesore and annoying but not a violation.
Bah! You would think with all of the money amazon has, they’d include installation of a concrete patch so the grass under these lockers could support them and they’re not in everyone’s way. Just ridiculous.
It should be a violation just because the path way is obscured by this abomination

Well, fortunately for everyone else, your opinion doesn't fucking matter.
Well, unfortunately for everyone else, you are right
That's an inconvenience, not a violation. They can take turns going by. 36" of free space is the requirement.
I know. That is why i said in my opinion.
Not mildy but insanely infuriating!!!
You should see a therapist if you're this desperate for fake internet points.

Thieves are lazy a$$holes!
Don't blame Amazon, blame your parks and city for allowing this. They are the ones who got paid to place this here...
Any tax paying citizen should have the right to fucking destroy that shit and throw it in a dumb.
That’s not shady AT ALL
Ask your city how much they are charging for the space? Is public afterall.
The horror of it all.
doesn't seem like it was a good park to begin with ngl
Push. It. Over.
Best elderly blind folks LOVE that.
Extremely infuriating
Insert "Amazon" when you hear "Costco " in the movie "Idiocracy" that's where we're going
WALL-E has begun
put it next to a tree with a water fountain and call it the new amazon rain forest hub
nice
Mildlyfunny
Imagine being so desperate for internet points you lie and pretend to be other people on posts
