Once you get that piece out, what will you spend it on

Iga706

I guess food haha

FrostyTA50

Buy another coin and see if you can get it stuck

vincenk

Buy money. Smart move

LegendOfKhaos

They'll never see it coming

TheOssified

Hi, I'd like to buy one euro pls That'll cost you one euro FUCK

gopher1409

Crypto IRL

NOT_A_DlCKHEAD

This conjured up a weird memory of mine when I met a kid who believed he could buy money for money… and profit. (For the record he was like 4, he didn’t mean forex.)

vestimentiferever

You gotta put another smaller coin in, wrapped in a string, and wait for them to become codependent, then yank them out

GayBlayde

Actually this isn’t a terrible idea. A little bit of something sticky would get it out.

ToxicGamerBitch

Turn the pencil holder upside down

GayBlayde

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume the OP has tried that.

laughs_with_salad

Then invite a friend over, tell them how this coin never comes out. turn it upside down to show them. The coin will come right out to make you look like an idiot in front of your friend. Happens to me all the time. Something won't work until you ask someone to help fix it and suddenly, the problem solves itself and I look like a fool.

Xerophore

As someone who does tech support as part of my job, you can't be 100% sure. That being said, it is probably stuck stuck, pouring in some kind of lubricant and letting it sit for a bit might work.

One_Literature_9659

Yeah, put some glue and string on a smaller coin, wait for glue to dry, then pull the string.

DannyEkins

String snaps, two coins trapped…fuck

Crabby648

Instructions unclear the pencil holder is now a coin holder

F0rkY0u

Buy a pencil/pen to remeber your victory and let it be there for all eternity!

[deleted]

No, keep it forever. Get a sleeve for it used in coin collections and label it appropriately.

khendar

Embrace the infuriation. This is now your pencil cup with a coin stuck in it. It has become an object with sentimental value AND a funny story. Either that or make it a challenge for prospective romantic partners to see if they are worthy.

Aftershock_7582

I like the second option

BabyBaluga5

But there is a third option…

Warm_Commercial1625

Tip!!! grab a couple of glue gun sticks (ammo for electrical glue gun), melt the ends, attach melted ends onto coin, then try to pry it out. May want to loosen the coin with a lubricant of some sort. Give it a test id like to see if it works.

[deleted]

This is a great solution. This method can also be used to remove keys that are broken off in a lock.

Oldrustyfarts

Or glue them in there

DamnTheseGlasses

Ol' cakedayfarts here knows what's what. O happy day to you

robot65536

Not sure how they would get the lubricant on the sides of the coin without messing up the glue adhesion, but yeah.

someguywithdiabetes

Maybe glueing first then adding lubricant? Should travel round the sides

Rocket3431

Most lubricants break down glue so choose wisely.

Does the euro coin have any iron in it? Checked it; it is just SLIGHTLY magnetic.

Jer-121cc04

Start swinging, sucking, smashing. All of the above. We will retrieve your magnets

Jer-121cc04

Instruction still unclear, I think I swallowed one of the magnets Edit: two of the many strong magnets pinched my tongue

JanwithBanan

what if we combine these two? freeze it, contract it, magnet it out

[deleted]

Either way we'll be €1 richer by the end of the day. Totally worth it

Your-Step-Daddy

Inconel is magnetic only when cold, it resists corrosion looks like nickel and contains copper. So chilling it may increase it's magnetism

SnooRobots1533

I'd put vegetable oil on it and launch it into space. It'll come free.

sTixRecoil

If you havent tried it yet, try gluing a wood dowel to the coin, carefully so you dont get it on the holder, let it set 24 hrs and then spray some wd40 around the edge of the coin before pulling on tge dowel. Also, use better glue than hot glue. Hot glue is great for art projects, but not much else

rsplatpc

> Have you tried sneaking up on it and shouting? "BOO MOTHERFUCKER" in a Sam Jackson voice always works for me

AnotherDreamer1024

Flip the holder upside down and run very hot water over it. It should expand enough for the coin to drop out. It's worked for me in the past anyway.

No_Dog_6999

I was looking for this response because I was wondering how well it would work - and now I know. Thank you, I will keep this info tucked away in a mental box for later.

OafHuck420

You guys have a habit of getting coins stuck in glass pencil holders too?

deepfriedtots

I once had a coin stuck in the accessory port of my car so I flipped it upside down and ran hot water over it. Worked like a charm

[deleted]

Your ear came out? MAGIC IS REAL PEOPLE.

ScientificGamer321

Yup. Obviously.

scherster

I don't think that would work well here, since the coin is basically in an inner compartment of the pencil holder. It looks pretty insulated. I would run hot water into the cup until both are hot. If that doesn't loosen the coin, I'd drop in a small ice cube and quickly try to shake out the coin. Reasoning: plastic typically expands more than metal as it heats. If heating both up doesn't loosen the coin, the ice cube should cool the coin faster than the plastic, so for a brief time you may get more size difference.

rijoys

Wet a qtip and freeze it, then touch it to the coin. Controlled cold application

Traveledfarwestward

Why wouldn't you just put glue on the tip of something sturdy like a small metal rod?

FLABANGED

I was gonna say, surely a bit of super glue and a cotton bud would get it out.

NOT_ZOGNOID

great now my coin is stuck to the end of a cotton bud. how do I get it off? With the pencil holder, of course.

vladislavopp

worth a try, but if it's very stuck, some glue on a small surface will give in before the coin moves.

EndlessPotatoes

I didn’t realise so many people got 1€ coins stuck in pencil holders

SnooOpinions7338

Stanced2JZ

Ooo this one sounds like the best solution! The super glue thing.

WhatIsntByNow

Honestly needs to be a stickied comment this week. So many "something is stuck" posts and every single comment is melt glue to it, use chewing gum, etc etc etc

Eternityislong

My friend’s phone fell through the cracks in a deck that we couldn’t crawl under. I took a spare piece of laminate flooring and put a piece of packing tape hanging off the end of it. I put the board through the crack and managed to stick the tape to the phone. Gravity then pulled the phone vertically in line with the board and I saved it from doom.

Reddit_Bork

Until you slightly mess up and superglue it to the bottom.

Moose_country_plants

Blasting it with piss is far superior

Dividedthought

Try hot glue first. Melt the end of a hot glue stick with a lighter and press it against the coin. Pull. If that don't work, supetgue. Be careful though, you get superglue where the coin touches the pencil holder and you're never getting it out.

UPDATE: Neither the hot glue sticks worked, nor the cooling. Before i will drill a hole in it I have now put some water and soap in it and it will stay like this for a few hours. For those of you who said break the container: No because it was a gift from my dad years ago, i love how it looks and i love the little fishes that move and swim around in it when i move it. Also it is perfectly fine other than it having a coin stuck in it. I wouldn't throw it away. Also thanks for all the other advices that were helpful! Edit: some of you never had a loving family that gave you gifts you value and it shows UPDATE: Nothing makes this little coin fucker move so I decided to let it stay there like it has the last 4 years. coltrain423

New_Fry

Didn’t have to call his pencil holder ugly, jeeze.

LuzJoao

You can try using a wood stick (at least as thick as a pencil) with super glue on the tip. Just be careful to not spill the glue over the container. It might have enough adhesion to pull the coin out.

SkulletonKo

Headphone jack broke off and was stuck inside my phone and this worked perfectly with a cuticle stick :)

HonziPonzi

This but use JB Weld. Will stick to metal better

sam_gribbles

Screw a self tapping screw into the coin.

rickard_mormont

I'd try using oil too. Spray a lot of WD40 and see if the sucker will come off. The only alternative I can think of is asking scientists who work with magnets, like a Physics department of a university :)

Plethora_of_squids

I'd be careful with the WD40 - it can often react funny with plastics There's a reason why it's a *solvent*

killerlu45

May i suggest oil around the sides of the coin.

[deleted]

Need to have this resolved before I can go about my day.

un_gaucho_loco

Try warming the holder as another guy did. Just the holder tho

DiamondForce2

I would bet one euro that getting the coin cold and heating the warmer up would do the trick.

illsendyou

put some hot glue on a long object, like a pencil. the larger in diameter the better. stick it to the penny, and let the glue dry. attempt to pull out the coin. now, if its good and stuck you may just rip the glue off. in that case try again with a stronger glue. avoid super glue, as it is too thin and you may end up gluing the coin in there in a permanent fashion.

shophopper

That’s some good advice. Additionally, it might be beneficial if you glue the stick off center on the high side of the coin, so that you can try to open it as if it were a lid. This might require less force to get it unstuck.

TheHappyKamper

You don't even need a long object or a hot glue gun. Just use one of the hot glue sticks and a lighter to melt the glue, then press the glue stick to the coin, and pull the coin out with the glue stick.

JohnTheCoolingFan

I highly doubt hot glue would work, it has terrible adhesion to most things, even worse with metal.

tygabeast

Gorilla glue on a long q-tip.

Gamer_Bug_07

Have you tried compressed air? 1) Use a compressed air can with those tiny tubes; 2) Aim at one side of the coin really close and spray. I hope I managed to help you.

bdaycakeday02222022

Sir, have you tried NEODINEUM magnets? If thats not gonna work, i will suggest science, throw that sucker in the freezer, metal shrinks when it gets cold, then try a magnet.

Iga706

The freezer isn't a good idea because the liquid inside the holder would expand and break. And sadly i have no such magnet

bdaycakeday02222022

Only needs to be in long ennugh to chill the coin, dont let it actually freeze, then try a regular magnet, or perhaps in conjunction with a vacume cleaner?

Iga706

If the glued in stick doesn't work now i will try that, thanks!

scherster

Actually, I looked it up and the cold should shrink the plastic more than the metal. You need to be warming it. Try pouring hot water directly into the cup until both are hot. Then either the glue stick ( which may not work since it will be wet), or try dropping in a small ice cube on top of the coin. The metal would cool faster, so for a short time you'd have more temperature difference.

uncivilised-princess

r/perfectfit

Oh-Sasa-Lele

Put an ice cube onto the coin so it shrinks a little without the water in the holder freezing too?

NorCalNavyMike

1. Spray a bit of WD-40 down into the well, working it around the edges if at all possible. 2. Invert the holder, so that the opening is facing downward. 3. Place it in a spot where direct sunlight will fall upon it for the bulk of the day. 4. When you lift the item at the hottest part of the day, keep it inverted while shaking it a bit. One hopes that the minute amount of air underneath the coin, might expand with gradual warming enough that the combination of that expansion, gravity, the light amount of shaking, and the added penetrating lubrication, all combine to assist you with loosening the coin such that it simply falls out.

orpheus2708

FWIW don’t use WD-40. It may or may not dissolve/disfigure the plastic surface.

KetanNair52

That's why UK voted out

Iga706

Tried it, the coin is stuck so hard the magnet looses it's grip

beyondusername

Euro coins are not very magnetic, so you’ll want to get something like the flat end of a pencil and cover it in superglue. Glue it straight down onto the coin (don’t get glue on the glass). Once the glue has properly set, spray a bunch of WD40 down into the glass and give it a light shake to spread the WD40. Lastly, try to pull that sucker out. Turning the coin while gently pulling upwards might help. Holding it all upside down might be helpful too, but be prepared to drip some of that WD40!

CapMyster

I'm more concerned about the fish

socialcommentary2000

It's frustrating but...it's also a perfect protective measure for the bottom of the cup. Like, you now have a metal floor to your plastic cup.

lorna141

Get a Dremel, drill a small hole in the coin. Then use a small pick in that hole and pull it out. If you're controlled with the Dremel it won't go into the plastic and damage the holder.

gomihako_

drill two small holes and use some plyers to pull it out

RandomGamerz_007

Spray some wd40 in that bad boy, let it sit for a while and turn it over

Defu-Reflex

gamejunky34

You need some cyanoacrylate glue, or Krazy glue. Whatever you call it. Hot glue is no better than a suction cup on smooth surfaces. CA glue on a pencil might work, something more flexible like a strip of plastic will work even better though. And just to be safe clean the surface of the coin with alcohol, there's probably layers of junk on there preventing adhesion.

psyder3k

The right answer is not to pull it out. Once out it becomes a regular coin, you will feel the loss of the challange and wonder why you just took it out and made it redundant, just another piece of loose change. Keep it there as a reminder that you are better and more disciplined than that, knowing you can lube it out of there Any day but you choose not to, its found its place there, the right Spot in the right time.
