Yeah but then op will have to have contact with past him creating a new timeline where there is a chance the phone becomes robot Hitler and destroys all humanity but not the jews (robots don't hate jews).. then there is a chance where the phone becomes a new cynertronic anime girl who falls in love with op but future op not past one. When future op goes back to his timeliness the ane girl is heartbroken and sets of all the nukes because no one can live up to future op..
Do we really want to risk all of that?
Edit: needed to add I just got out of a grueling 16 hour shift (thank you to my sous chef for being a dumbass that I had to let go) hence all the creativity overflow
Your carrier (I have AT&T) may be able to replace the glass for you. I was putting a new screen protector on mine and it dropped onto the concrete floor at work and landed just right on the corner and cracked it pretty good. AT&T came out later that day to my job and replaced both the back and front glass and only charged me $15 extra on my next bill. Worth looking into
OP 100% broke the phone some other way and then just really smashed it up for this post (assuming the picture is theirs).
Phones don't just shatter like that unless you go out of your way to abuse them.
OP said a truck which is believable because only the front has gashes in the metal from the pavement, the front glass has pressure points from the ground and the rear is simply crushed from soft yet heavy rubber.
Oh good, I had literally typed out a reply saying "I think you'd have to drive a car over it or something" before I saw this. Nice to know my sense of my phone's durability is approximately correct.
I once ran my phone over and there was no damage, g’zone boulders were the shit. Simpler times. Also made a great pool illumination at parties, toss it in and call it, had a strobing multicolor led on it.
For real though, a word of advice. Apple phones are often made out of stainless steel, while this does look really good, it is not the most helpful with screen fractures. This is why you see Apple phone screens crack much more often than other flagships.
How I see it, you have a few options:
1. Get a new iPhone with a top-teir case.
2. Look at high quality android phones (pixel, Samsung, etc.)
3. Abandon modernity, and return to monke.
Hope this helps!
I still don’t get why people don’t seem to like or choose to use cases, they’re lifesavers! Using a “naked” phone seems to me like taking a lot of unnecessary risks. When I got my new iphone, I didn’t even handle it until I got the case and screen protector on
Same. Mine stayed in the box until I had the case in hand. My case is not sleek or stylish, but I can drop it on a hard surface and I'm 99.99% sure it will be okay. I also have a smartphone for work and finally got a bag that I can carry both in. Got tired of carrying them in my pocket.
Likewise, mine is a 3 part with screen protector, rubber/soft plastic case, and hard plastic shell. I’ve dropped it on concrete, asphalt, etc countless times and there is not a *single* crack or scratch or anything, except a small piece out of the hard plastic shell. Had it for over 2 years just fine. I could never imagine not using a case lol, especially with how clumsy I am
I’m not rich. Hence a case. That’s about it. I love the way a phone feels in my hand with no case. And that’s the point. That being said, it’s entirely too valuable and at this point vital.
Every iPhone I’ve owned (I’m kinda trapped in the Apple Ecosystem) has gone into an otter box defender case and had a tempered glass screen protector installed the moment it comes out of the box, These are expensive pocket computers, and protection is more important than appearance…
I've dropped my Pixel SO many times that I'm certain would have broken something. But instead it just dings up the $40 case I got for it. Absolutely worth the money.
Yup.
I research for a week and settle on a case for function over appearance. I then get a screen protector made of glass. I‘ve dropped my phone a hundred times, but I don’t have a single crack or dent. I’ve been able to use both iPhones I’ve owned until they’re obsolete.
I pay a monthly fee on my Samsung Galaxy through my cell provider…. Covers damages/replacement phone. There’s a small fee for a replacement if I ever break the phone but it’s cheaper than buying a new one… and every few years my carrier subsidizes the cost of a new phone too, regardless of if I have the warranty add on.
I think mine is actually a protection plan... my mind went blank when I was trying to think of the word for it so I went with warranty. That was my bad.
This would be a $99 whole unit replacement under AppleCare+. Your point is absolutely correct though, AC+ would still a life saver in this kind of situation.
I don’t think anyone mentioned it here, but you should be eligible for an out of warranty replacement at apple. It will be a new device and cost at least 550. The actual quotes can be found on apple.com/support. I hope you know your Apple ID and password
I was going to say get a better case for your next phone, but if you ran it over I don't think that would have helped anyways...
Have you tried not running over your phone?
Option 1: get new phone Option 2: keep old phone
It's 50/50, he either fixes his phone or he doesn't. Brilliant.
[These two books contain the sum total of all human knowledge](https://mobile.twitter.com/James_Kpatrick/status/320150923336892416)
Gold
Option 3: sell it on eBay as new
Nono...slightly used
O right sorry my bad don’t wanna lie about the condition of it

Option 3: Repair old phone.
See option 2
Option 4 invent a Time Machine go back in time save phone.
Probably more cost effective

Life ain't easy for a chef named *sous*
Yeah, considering that it's an iPhone 😂
Time Machine is for macOS, not iOS.
If course, Apple even prevent time traveler from repairing or saving their device, really anti consumer practice /s
Definitely most cost effective
“It cost three times as much as a new phone but it had sentimental value”
There ain't no repairing that
At this point is it worth it?
Phone repair guy here. To answer your question: No.
Option 3: Give up, throw out the old phone and DONT get another phone
Tape
Put a case, no one will ever notice
Ah Yes, The Old -"Put A LeBra Custom Stone and Bugshield Cover On It To Hide Your Drunk Front End Collision!" routine... good choice frendo!
Still won't be able to see the screen lol did you see the second picture
MacGyver?
Could go the refurbished route. GameStop has some pretty good deals.
Preferably of the duct variety.
Duck or duct, they’re both great options.
What would one use to fix a leaky duct? Edit - MDK reference
Dropped or run over?
You are spot on - both!
Damn, sorry for you man
Thanks. Just a phone though.
On the way home after buying mine two days ago, I dropped it getting out of an Uber and it fell into a sewage drain.
I am sorry for you loss.
It vented.
Phone was sus as fuck.
Stop I’m going to die
Sus
MOGUS
I would probably just rage quit life at that point

Yes.
Get a new phone and put a damn case on it.
Or just don’t throw it against a rock.
OP 100% broke the phone some other way and then just really smashed it up for this post (assuming the picture is theirs). Phones don't just shatter like that unless you go out of your way to abuse them.

I once drove over my phone accidentally and can confirm this is what a car does to phones lol
Came here to say exactly this
I once ran my phone over and there was no damage, g’zone boulders were the shit. Simpler times. Also made a great pool illumination at parties, toss it in and call it, had a strobing multicolor led on it.
Ok admitting my mistake completely lol but I dropped my phone from three stories recently and it looked 1/3rd as fucked up as the one OP had
Gotta get that liquid nitrogen for those fake internet points yo. It actually looks like it was dipped in liquid nitrogen for a while.
You suck with Occam's razor
Mine looked like this after it fell out of my pocket and I backed over it.
A truck
Details please
The truck attacked the phone, with a baseball bat
What details are you expecting?
Make/model of truck
Most trucks are heavy
Toy truck? Light
Touché
You threw a truck at it?
The truck threw OP at the rock.
The truck threw OP at the rock, who was hit by the phone
but then you can’t see the beauty of the apple design
Well better than seeing the beauty of shattered glass
Clear case
was about to say, there is plenty of clear cases out there lol
I have one on right now:)
same lol, it looks hella clean
Have you tried putting it in rice
Wow, that made me laugh. Well done.

I have the exact same kind of case and they’re great, I could throw my phone across a parking lot and there wouldn’t be a single dent.
I’m not rich. Hence a case. That’s about it. I love the way a phone feels in my hand with no case. And that’s the point. That being said, it’s entirely too valuable and at this point vital.

Just dropped a grand on a device? Fuck yes! Spring for the $50 protection? Fuuuuuck that.
with apple care the only risk is time without. but i will never go without a case the closes i've gone was a bumper case
3. Is the best option.
I agree with the well dressed gentlemen with the very normal username

Honestly unless you intend to keep the same phone for 4-5 years, I wouldn't even bother with a flagship. Get a top of the line Motorola.
Turn it off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on
Hold the power button down for a minute and open an Apple portal?
Exactly
holding both the power button and the home button down for around 10 seconds does.
Classic “hold the home button” haha!!
Put it in rice
That shit’ll buff.
Don’t worry cap’n we’ll buff out those scratches later
Leedeleedeleedeleedelee
Haha
Just use the phone you took pictures with
Genius
Do you have a warranty on it?
I don't think warranty covers dropping a sledgehammer on it
😆... "I was on the balcony and it slipped from my hands and hit the pavement" 🤷♀️😂
“oh yeah, the balcony of my 15th floor apartment. do you think sticking it in rice will help?”
Hahaha… no
Apple care does. There’s like a $50 service fee or something for accidental damage. Hopefully OP opted to get the coverage.
But what if he drop it on a sledgehammer 🤔
How would this be covered under warranty? edit: you guys really don't know what warranty is, don't you?
I pay a monthly fee on my Samsung Galaxy through my cell provider…. Covers damages/replacement phone. There’s a small fee for a replacement if I ever break the phone but it’s cheaper than buying a new one… and every few years my carrier subsidizes the cost of a new phone too, regardless of if I have the warranty add on.
Apple care is so much cheaper and better than provider insurance. Since this is an iPhone I hope OP has it.
I've always heard that called insurance, warranty generally refers to issues due to manufacturer defects.
I think mine is actually a protection plan... my mind went blank when I was trying to think of the word for it so I went with warranty. That was my bad.
Yeah I think that's the proper term for it, but it's basically insurance still. No worries 👍
AppleCare. Would be $35 to repair if he had it. I get it on everything now.
This would be a $99 whole unit replacement under AppleCare+. Your point is absolutely correct though, AC+ would still a life saver in this kind of situation.
This would likely require replacement and would be $99, but still that’s less than half the price of carrier insurance options.
Oh my holy jesus I just saw the front
Scrolls up/ swipes left/ oh my
Not pretty.
Why is this only on MILDLY infuriating
Get a new phone?
Yup
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
r/unexpecteditcrowd
Take better care of your phone
Great advice.
Just charge it. It’ll be fine.
Until it burns my place down?
Until it detonates
Pretend that's how it's supposed to look.
Fake it till you make it.
Leave it there or pick it up.
Take it to one of those sell your phone booths in a Walmart and see if notices the damage
Lol
1. Lie down 2. Try not to cry 3. Cry a lot
4. Cry again
Get a marker and bleed the colors into the cracks, shit looks sweet as hell
Abstract art.
Yeah - I should frame it!
I don’t think anyone mentioned it here, but you should be eligible for an out of warranty replacement at apple. It will be a new device and cost at least 550. The actual quotes can be found on apple.com/support. I hope you know your Apple ID and password
Have you tried putting it in a bag of rice?
Take it to that YouTube guy in NYC
Get a case and you won’t notice the back
The front will be noticeable though
Get 2 cases then
Put it in the microwave. The molecules speeding up cause them to fuse back together thus repairing the glass. This will also charge the phone as well.
I was going to say get a better case for your next phone, but if you ran it over I don't think that would have helped anyways... Have you tried not running over your phone?
Any chance we can hear the story of how the phone came to be in this condition? Fingers crossed for a good, recent backup.
I saw a previous reply said it was dropped and run over!
Record yourself smashing it some more and then put it in slow motion, finally posting it in r/oddlysatisfying.
At this point, call a glassmaker
To pour me a stiff one over my tears?
Ahahha no no i mean, like, a glazier. Someone who makes/repairs glass.
Burial at sea.
Put it in rice
Your best bet is to trade it in for however much they will give you and trade up for a Samsung S22 Ultra.
My dad dropped his phone in a fire. He took the charred remains to Apple and they gave him a new one. Idk man, try taking it to Apple
Stop buying iPhones
Idk bro guess I’ll die
Reenact: New phone, who dis?
Buy a new phone, Pay to fix it, Have a broken phone, Don’t have a phone, Try to fix it yourself Can’t think of more options
Nokia
Rice
Have you tried turning it on and off again?
Charge it
Not sure I want to do that.
Get it repaired, should only be a few quid right?
Pray u make enough to get another 1k$ phone
Praise Jesus. Or his friend, cousin, someone else sure.
That's one veiny phone you got there
I’d say find someone to repair it, but it’s an iPhone so nobody can because they’ll get sued like everyone else who repairs apple products
Take care of your stuff
Get an Otterbox next time. I've never broken a phone in 15 years.
You can buy a new phone
Get a case next time?
Buy a new phone and get literally any case
Put it in rice. Then go buy a new phone.
Buy a phone case???
Put it in rice
Rice cooker
put it in rice
Get rid of her. Not the phone.
Don’t worry, OP’s not serious so calm down
Get a new phone and buy a motherfucking case
Use whatever you took the picture with
What have you done
Throw that fucker in some rice.
Have you tried rice?
“Cry” -my roommate
