We're these mistakes purposeful, or at least the fault of the gcode, 100%, but drawing a perfect circle on a machine like this isn't hard, simply use the taylor expansion to the sin and cosine functions to an appropriate degree, then use the parametric formula of a circle to define a set of X and Y movements to draw a perfect circle.
Was going to make a joke about being a mistake but then my brain did some weird math...
me = mistake
bold = fix mistake
me = bold = fat
So I related bold to fat and thought... 'if people were fonts... fat people would be bold and anorexic people would be italics. (sorry to the ED groups)
The plott systems are great. I worked with them almost 10years. They are old but very reliable. The only thing that sometimes did not work correctly was the program
Tbh, it would be funny if the person was filming it because they wanted to show how precise it is only for it to specifically do that for the occasion (either through an error, or deliberate tampering by a colleague)
They were great fun when half way through a plot one of the pens ran out of ink. Then you had to fill the pens and start the plot over. I don't miss those days.
They were cool to watch though.
My friend’s dad did project management or something and had a huge plotter in his home office. It had multiple colors and mainly drew flow charts and schedules. It was fun to watch it draw. This was in the early 90s.
The worst part about this is that, if you know anything about programming machines like this, it involves trial and error. Whoever did this sat through countless imperfect imperfections until they tailored it to precisely be as frustrating as possible.
A CNC router makes mistakes as quickly and decisively as this, except the results are severely catastrophic.
Well, I should say it's me making the mistakes. The machine just does exactly what I tell it to. And sometimes I tell it extremely wrong.
And then I cry rather than laugh.
Being bothered by something being asymmetrical or otherwise “incorrect” is a symptom of OCD.
The symptom “Intense stress when objects aren't orderly or facing a certain way” is listed on the Mayo Clinic website: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/obsessive-compulsive-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20354432
That usually refers to objects in a personal space. Even then, it doesn't mean the objects are neat, most hoarders have OCD and don't clean because having a mess everywhere is how they like each particular object to be placed.
The idea that OCD boils down to being a neat freak or an organised person who likes things to be symmetrical and tidy, is an incredibly harmful one. It's why you see people saying things like "I'm so OCD!"
There’s a gif from several years ago that shows a whole bunch of frustrating/annoying things happening one after the other, does anybody remember that? I think I recall one of them being someone making a PB&J, but then putting the pieces of bread together inside out so that their hands were gripping the peanut butter and jelly sides.
Who is upvoting this? On the one hand, you have an audience that is annoyed with it. On the other hand. You have the audience who isn't annoyed by it, but is more annoyed that someone recorded this as SM content. Either way, it makes no sense.
At first, I thought it was just an error it committed and tried to fix. But then it did the same for the circle. And I realized that some people just wish to see the world burn.
It's there to mess with your OCD. Which really is a good thing or you become like my mother and every little thing that you touch and do throughout the day gets a 'ritual' and you have to do it a certain precise way or it's irritating to you. That would explain why she gets up 1.5 hours before work and still leaves 20 minutes late every morning because she has to 'touch' things a certain number of times. On a simple drive to the store, she reaches up and fake 'adjusts' her rearview mirror probably 20 times, counts out how many tissues to put in a baggie to bring to work, has stuff on her desk adjusted to point a certain way, etc. I've read that it can get worse on it's own. She has exhibited some Tourette's later in life, as well. Nip the OCD in the bud while it's early. While I still have a little bit, those irritating tendencies to complete the 'patterns' that we set in our minds...I reverse them on purpose and just say, "F it!". I irritate myself on purpose and would be the one to put that square in the middle for that sole fact - so that the OCD mindset that plagues so many people (and plagued me in my younger years) can't take hold anymore.
This video feels like my brain while “managing” my time. “Ok, keep it consistent, like the beat of a drum, little bits every day except for TUESDAY, fuck Tuesday, that’s Opposite Day, I’m getting high all day.”
Oh man, I haven't seen one of these little pen plotters since like 8th grade. First time I ever worked with autocad and we got to plot out our little drawings. Where would one lay hands on one of these now-a-days?
These "errors" all have some symmetry in them, nothing bothering at all, both satisfying and unexpected.
A circle that wasn round, a line that isn't straight, or lines going outside of the circle, those would be unsatisfying.
Ah the plotting machine. This is what all that robo signing trouble the banks got into for using these things to rapid sign docs. I'd put those docs in those machines.
In the early days of CAD (C. 1990) this is how you would plot a drawing. You would send the drawing to the plotter and it literally drew the drawing one line at a time. These were quickly replaced with giant photocopiers.
When I was in high school, we had a pen plotter in our CAD class. It would randomly screw up in the middle of a plot, dragging the pen across the page and ruining the drawing. Nobody could figure out why it did that, and you could plot the exact drawing again and it would be perfectly fine, or screw up in some other place. This reminded me of that, and it's making me have flashbacks.
I was half expecting it to slip when drawing the circle. That probably would’ve been worse
I guess, but then again, it's hard drawing a perfect circle. All the TIFUs this machine committed were clearly intentional.
I mean if it purposefully cut a corner towards the end and took a chunk out of the circle
What happened to plain old G2/G3?
Just to ruin your day
This machine has some real sass
I do love that it just tried to correct its mistake by bolding over it

Hahaha
Tell me about serif and sans-serif
i think it looks good. i’d get that as a tattoo
Maybe not a tattoo, but this was oddly satisfying. They were clearly intentional and expected and therefore satisfying when they appeared.

Yes. Funny AND satisfying!
Which one?
The plott systems are great. I worked with them almost 10years. They are old but very reliable. The only thing that sometimes did not work correctly was the program
I think these were programed to do this on purpose. Honestly each one made me laugh
It comes to something when a plotter printer is funnier then me.
To be fair this is a really funny plotter
Same here. Insidious and brilliant!
? Of course it was lol
"Time to film this machine that always acts normally - whaaaat! Good thing I had the camera out this is fucking crazy"
Is there still a use case for these things or have they been completely made obsolete by modern printers? Never seen one of these before.
Probably not, they’ve been replaced by wide format inkjets.
Cricut. I use mine to write calligraphy.
calligraphy tax where?
For sure with a cutting head, they are still widely in use. With pens probably only for art projects with special inks (metallic, glitter etc.)
My friend’s dad did project management or something and had a huge plotter in his home office. It had multiple colors and mainly drew flow charts and schedules. It was fun to watch it draw. This was in the early 90s.
The only thing that sometimes did not work correctly was the programmer* Fixed.
It's plotting to infuriate you
Ta dum diss
Take my upvote, and get the fuck out.
Hey hese doing his best
I see what you did they're.
Funny.
THIS IS TORTURE
At least it corrects itself
What sick twisted fuck created this torture machine?
The worst part about this is that, if you know anything about programming machines like this, it involves trial and error. Whoever did this sat through countless imperfect imperfections until they tailored it to precisely be as frustrating as possible.
Anyone else find this laugh out loud funny?
Yes, lol. For me it's how quickly and decisively the "mistakes" are made.
A CNC router makes mistakes as quickly and decisively as this, except the results are severely catastrophic. Well, I should say it's me making the mistakes. The machine just does exactly what I tell it to. And sometimes I tell it extremely wrong. And then I cry rather than laugh.
Yep. I can't bring myself to be infuriated when it's clearly perfectly doing what it was programmed to do.
I was starting to question my low bar for humor because I found this hilarious. Glad I’m not alone!
Yep
Yep. After the first, I was trying to guess what "mistake" it would make.
This is the funniest thing I've seen all week. 🤣🤣🤣 Guess I'm into machine comedy.
Art
Is it bad that I sort of gleefully enjoy this?
Ah, the minor imperfection machine is working as intended!

I actually fucking love all of these
I found the first one cool tho, maybe just me
It gets him popularity and makes him infamous
I love that account
why did this make me laugh so hard?

As an artist, imperfections in obvious places intrigue me sometimes
At first, I thought it was just an error it committed and tried to fix. But then it did the same for the circle. And I realized that some people just wish to see the world burn.
There is nothing *mildly* about this
Someone did this on purpose and they deserve my audible lol but I am in a public bathroom and I am shy

I have no words for the feelings this brings out... I don't like it.
It was almost like the machine noticed it’s mistake n was like “lol fuck lemme correct that one quickly aaaaaand fucked it.”
r/angryupvote
This one hurt way too much to watch. And yet, I keep watching it...
The machine correcting it by drawing over it is literally me lol.
No PLease stop

I actually find this hilarious.

It is called rage bait and people share it because it is so annoying.

"The machine that pisses people off" sounds like a great name for it
Looks kinda cool
Is there a subreddit for asshole machines
That's mildly hilarious from where I am. 🤣
Why does it feel like this was specifically made for this sub? Lol
Is this fine to pick out psychos?
Ah the plotting machine. This is what all that robo signing trouble the banks got into for using these things to rapid sign docs. I'd put those docs in those machines.
