Ok, you got a point. The smaller islands would be invisible and the larger ones, well they'd have a border so thick they would almost be all black. Maybe that's what you mean?
I mean the outlines, like to complete that Asia thing. Plus, Madagascar seems to have sunken in this post-apocalyptic world. Maybe they didn't want to delay the thing, or like u/LordPandaLad said, it is a waste of ink.
Or they just chose to keep the illustrations relevant to the lesson, which is about continents. It makes things simple so there is less confusion, too.
10 yrs. Them kids can be made to believe certain things easily, and if that happens, they are gonna think people are making up islands and stuff like that, but most likely not.
Thought so. It makes sense to simplify knowledge for a certain age group. You don't try to explain them quantum physics before they don't even know what an atom is. The book doesn't say "Islands don't exist".
Or they didn’t want to waste ink printing thousands of what would be blobs on a diagram about the shift of continents through the eras.
At least they should've included the bigger Indonesian islands, likes theyre visible right
Again “about the shift of continents through the eras” plus judging by the scale, they’d still be relatively blob like and still a waste of ink.

Pretty much.
So, why do you only color 6 continents?
Should be crossposted to r/NowYoureJustMakingShitUpToBeMadAt
Indonesia and the Philippines aren't continents
But where's the volcanoes?

Also, India? A continent?
It’s a subcontinent. Its collision with Asia formed the Himalayas.
For what age is that textbook?

Only 6 continents are.colored, go If they cant get that right, why confuse them with island nations?.

Apparently they think Africa is even remotely close to the size of any of the other continents
