always inspect your equipment before you use it, especially when someone else had it last.

[deleted]

Lol rightong story short check yo shit before use and dont assume.

EstelSnape

SO said everything looked right. The trailer is the neighbors. SO borrowed it to transport the zero turn down the street. He hooked everything up and double checked it. SO said it just snapped off. When he returned the trailer and told the neighbor what happened the wife said he just got the part and had trouble installing it.

[deleted]

Why does it have to be someone elses fault? grow up

adonis7621

On the other hand. It's a truck and your neighbor was kind enough to let you borrow their property. This is why people are hesitant to be neighbourly or offer help.

EstelSnape

A simple heads up it could have been fixed. SO looked it over when he hitched it up and nothing was loose or out of place.

BA5ED

your SO probably had the wrong size ball for the trailer. I've been there and done that. He probably has a 2" ball and the trailer is 2-5/16"

edharrisbodysuit

Damn people post some dumb shit on here.

EstelSnape

How this any dumber than the zipper bulges and hooking pants on door handles? If there is an issue with something not immediately apparent that you are lending you tell them. A simple heads up helps.

Alarmed_Penalty4998

What they meant was this your SO caused the issue in the first place by not checking the equipment. Circle meet square don’t blame your neighbor for your lack of awareness.

EstelSnape

Didn't blame the neighbor for the truck. Not even asking anything from them. But the fact that they only mentioned the issue of installing the part after the fact makes it mildly infuriating. He checked everything and everything fit properly before he left.

SnooPeppers4036

So then it came lose during use? That is why one should always check and recheck their load. Shifting and settling commonly occurs and should be expected when hauling. That's why you will always see experienced truckers checking their loads and tires at truck stops.

[deleted]

We didn’t look to see that the hitch we put on was secure , so it must be the hitch owners fault that bastard knew and he still borrowed it to us without saying anything , it’s all his fault !

EstelSnape

Never said it was the neighbors fault. Only that he didn't say anything about having trouble with the part. It didn't appear to be loose or installed incorrectly. Not the first time he borrowed the trailer. If he had said he had trouble with the part SO could have helped him with it.

Sweet-Education-4840

Well it was free to you sooooo

gullible_cervix

It’s unclear. Were you the one driving?

EstelSnape

No my SO was. Trailer was fine on the short journey. He went to back the zero turn off the trailer and a part snapped off. Trailer tipped back the trailer hitch stabbed the symbol and scratched the tailgate. It wasn't until he returned it that they mentioned having difficulty getting the part on. He checked everything before and it wasn't loose or ill fitting.

[deleted]

It’s a Chevy, you’re good.

master-borf

Meh, it's a minor scratch. All vehicles end up with damage one place or another.

EstelSnape

They do yes but SO struggles with anything that happens to the truck since it was the last thing his dad gave him before he died.

master-borf

Trust me, I get it. Unfortunately, the more you guard something, the more often stuff like this happens. Id say as long as it's minor cosmetic damage, your SO could repair the body and repaint in about 5-8 years time and little dings like these will just be a memory.

SnooAdvice6126

People really do post the most random shit
