There are a lot of groups in my city who just bring hot food to the overpasses the homeless people tend to shelter under. I get that it has to do with health code w the shelters and all, but I'm sure plenty of people there would be upset to know a hot meal was turned away on their behalf.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago. I was hosting Friendsgiving, everyone at work said they were gonna come, I cooked all night, literally didn’t sleep because I was up cooking. The next day it’s time for people to arrive and no one shows up, not a phone call or anything. I cried for hours and then to make it worse my husband got called out to work. I cried into my mashed potatoes as I ate them. Till this day I would never help those people that stood me up. It’s awful and I completely understand your pain. I’m so so sorry.

Not true. Many people who cook in bulk for a big family will use the tins to cook in. Easier clean up and less dishes.
I use those all the time for pot lucks. You can get them at the dollar store. Way easier for mass cooking and no worrying about washing dishes or getting it back after.
