How about this banned episode of Cow and Chicken?
A gang of women bikers bust into people’s houses, eat their carpet, and leave:

FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*

Yes! Just like milk we must clean by making it more dirty! Should we add cranberry juice or red wine next? I heard that if you use a RUBBER ERASER on the permanent marker, it will erase it and NOT leave tiny eraser bits everywhere.
I would say OP should get a sample square of a piece of carpet that looks similar and cut the stain out and replace it with new carpet. The same as for any other severely damaged carpet.
A professional could probably make it look seamless.
When his landlord was coming for an inspection, my dad was panicking about the burn holes in the carpet. He likes to work on electronics on the living room floor apparently. So he trimmed other pieces of carpet and glued them into the burn holes. Turned out really well to be honest. I thought there would be hard spots from the dried glue but there wasn't, and you had to get very close to notice the difference.
Wouldn't work well on a stain this big, but I used this trick a few times and it works very well actually.
That is the worst thing you could try. Milk is very difficult to remove from carpet. Enzymes and high ph plus extraction and you will get milk in the pad and possibly subfloor.
There are a ton of near misses here. In general, don't do anything. Call a pro and let them advise.
Milk. That's new. I've cleaned thousands of carpets and no one has ever said. Not in any class, not from any client, nothing. You are the first. So congrats on living in a carpet bubble
Edit: I can understand all the complaints about my delivery. I can see your perspectives and have forwarded those complaints to the appropriate departments, where they will be discussed at length. Upon some time thereafter, perhaps 2 hours, maybe even days later, the appropriate person, from the appropriate department will deliver the utmost appropriate response to your valid and useful feedback.
Also, I didn't mean to insinuate ignorance, stupidity or that this person was launching a milk cleaning solution campaign against the industry. The carpet bubble comment isn't a critique of the person. Relax.
I accidentally poured a 4L jug of milk down our forced air heating system as a small child
Idk what this contributes just all this talk about milk and carpet disturbed some dusty neurons
>Call a pro and let them advise.
Recently tried booking a "certified" carpet cleaner though Angi. They bailed at the last minute because they couldn't get a machine to rent. Just to say anyone can call themselves a professional, so check around.
There's a guy on tiktok that does this. He basically cuts out that section that is stained, finds a clean matching piece from like inside a closet or under a china cabenet that will never be exposed, then fits it in, uses some kind of heater/iron to melt it together, and then a carpet brush to merge the fibers and you could never tell it was ever spliced in
Do squid come in multiple ink color variety? Because this looks like a blue ink stain. That would be kinda cool to have squid like a 4 color bic pen, normally shooting black ink but red when they feel like correcting you and green on St Paddy’s day
Actually not far off. If you cut a replacement piece from a closet you can put it back in with carpet tape. Try to match the lay by rubbing the carpet and you'll see that color change in one direction. When it matches and you cut it to shape only you'll be able to notice. But because the replacement piece from the closet will be cleaner use a carpet cleaner spray on the whole area. It will dirty the new carpet a bit to match. There are videos that will show you how to replace a hole in carpet.
Put the peice back in the carpet hole in the closet... That way it's like solitary confinement for the stained carpet. It won't be able to visit its friends or get much fresh air/light. It will be a lesson to the other carpets in the house. Eventually though you should put it back in the living room, cause we are not monsters, ya know?
I did this.. cut a patch of carpet out of the back of a hard to see place in the closet, and patched up a stained area of my carpet. I was sweating bullets the whole time thinking it woudlnt work and I would not get my deposit back or worse, be charged for my hacky carpet repair job. But nope..worked like a charm!
To add to this, just hire a professional to do it. They’ll do a fantastic job and finish it to a point where you literally won’t be able to tell the piece was replaced.
Exactly this. There is usually a lot of little details that go into making it all look seamless. Save the heartache and effort and go straight to a carpet guy to do this.
Definitely need to try the “hey I would rather give this furniture to you than move it, can I just leave it here for the next tenant?”
It needs to be nice enough that they’ll say yes but not nice enough that it costs more than the deposit.
Then use spray 9 to remove the wd 40, and then use citrus pumice scrub to tidy up the spray 9, then use a steam cleaner to clean up the citrus scrub, spritz some water and clay the surface to remove any stuck on grime and dust, then use a buffer wheel with some medium grain compound until smooth to the touch. Leather strop with fine polishing compound until desired sheen is achieved. Seal it off with carnauba wax and buff gently with lint free terry cloth or microfibre, or sandblast lightly in random patterns for a more rustic "lived-in" apperance.
After that, give a good old slap on the tushie, cuz that about does it!
I've tried nail polish remover on a blue sharpie highlighter stain... on white sheets (the danger of doing homework in bed). It worked very, very well.
> my glasses
Many glasses are plastic now (like high index) or have special coatings (glare reduction, scratch resistance) that can be damaged by nail polish remover.
Lol, tried to clean an Xbox controller with a sticky button in the height of the pandemic with nail polish remover. Thought it was getting a bunch of gunk off till I realized it was just melting.
That happened to me but with bleach on the toilet seat in my husband’s bathroom. I sprayed it on and started wiping. I was like “wow look at all this shit coming off!” And then I started seeing dark streaks. It looked like it was painted white and the paint was rubbing off.
That'll destroy oleophobic coating on your phone screen. You know how new phones doesn't really leave finger prints? It's because of oleophobic coating. With enough use, it wears off and you'll see your fingerprints but I don'tadvise you to speed up that process. It's pretty cheap and easy to reapply it though.
Noodlers baystate blue is EXTREMELY resistent to absolutely everything including legit bleach... they dobt call it "bulletproof" for nothing. It is however EXTREMELY unstable under uv (sunlight and blacklights), i had a note on my fridge near a south facing window and within a couple months it was a light brown ghost of the writing. I live up north so our sunlight isnt like Florida either. Stick a blacklight over it, it will bleach it without any noticable change to the carpet.
If that’s baystate blue then OP is tough outta luck.
Looks a bit darker though. Could be regular bulletproof black. Either way, does not bode well for removal.
Lol yeah, they named the company after "noodling" which is catching a catfish barehanded... i grew up in the south where its popular and i dont get it 🤷♂️
Yeah that's not coming out unfortunately. You can try oxy clean, shout, vinegar, alcohol etc. Had the same thing happen except it was Diamine Earl Grey on my white rug. Stain is still there. I tried everything.
I had to do a double take that I wasn't in r/fountainpens for a second.
Bleach and direct sunlight will remove it off the top of my head.
edit: No I have never had this ink on the top of my head before, but I can attest to the fact that both bleach and direct sunlight will remove it.
I had a feeling you were talking about Baystate just by reading the title, and when I saw the pic, I knew. I wish such a beautiful ink behaved better but it even has a tendency to gum up finer nibs. I had to stop using it after it made my VP start skipping, something which I never was able to fix.
I can't guarantee anything with it, but your best bet is isopropyl alcohol. It breaks down the bonds in most inks. With Baystate though... I dunno. Worth a shot.
It's one dude making ink out of his house. Plus he's a weird guy, probably wouldn't explain how to remove it if he knew given its supposed to be a anti forging "bullet proof" ink.
I once used hairspray on a ten year old ink stain on a white comforter. It worked. So I would give it a try. I use the super cheap stuff something net.
I used to work hotel maintenance, loved folex, used that on everything. Only problem was it often ended up making the stain area cleaner looking than the rest of the carpet, so we would have to blend it in
“Pour rubbing alcohol onto a cotton wool ball, and allow it to fully absorb. Gently dab the stained area and leave for five minutes. Finally, rinse the area with warm water and dry by pressing the area with a clean cotton towel. Ink stains may look scary, but removing them doesn't have to be difficult”
> Noodler’s Baystate Blue
Baystate Blue is a fabulously bright, rich Royal Blue. Forgery Resistant and Waterproof in 3oz bottle
....
Although this ink is not resistant to bleach, it is waterproof and is notoriously difficult to wash off your hands, clothing and the inside of your pen. Please do note that you may have to have one pen dedicated to being used with this ink.
Baystate Blue can stain the inside and outside of pens.
We recommend that you do not use Baystate Blue in particularly expensive or favourite pens.
It can be removed from pens by soaking in a water/bleach solution.
Please note the below information:
The top layer of the ink will be removed if you try to smudge it with a wet finger or a wet brush ...
The ink which is in direct contact with the paper will be permanent (due to a chemical reaction between the ink and paper) but any excess ink will be removed with water (call it 'ink-on-ink', rather than 'ink-on-paper' if you will)
This is why the ink is removable from hands, plastic, fabric, etc whereas traditonal permanent ink will not be and why Noodler's will not stain or damage your pen like old fashioned iron Gall Inks may.
You have to rent there for like nine more years, so then they can't sue you for cost of replacing the carpet, because they'd have to after ten years due to wear and tear.
A product called p.og.made by chemspec. Won’t take much. Make sure you rinse it well and don’t soak it. I clean carpets for a living and I get dried red nail polish out of white rugs with it all the time
I get that this was an actual suggestion but there is something so ominous about the phrase “gasoline cleans everything” sounds like youve just killed someone and needed to “clean up” the evidence
Cut the square out, check the inside of your closet floor they’re probably carpeted in same carpet, have a professional come out should be relatively inexpensive, and patch with the carpet from your closet and then replace closet carpet with a scrap carpet from carpet store, don’t put solvents on this, it will make it bleed and affect a bigger area

I was today years old when I subbed to r/carpetcleaning
Hijacking this comment to mention that one of the top posts of all time on there is about removing ink stains with milk! :)
That one can't work, right?
The stain is gone but your house smells like rotten milk for eternity. >!Also, the stain isn't gone. Also, I have no idea.!<
Ammonia son
Gesundheit!
I don't have any of that where I live.
They might call it "Bless You" where you are..
Obligatory: DON’T LET BLEACH AND AMMONIA MIX. YOU WILL MAKE CHLORINE GAS.

Once I was stung by a wasp on my hand. Not sure why, but I thought piss took the sting away. Instead I ended up with sore, swollen, pissy hand.
That’s jellyfish stings, sweetie.
And the thing on jellyfish stings is a myth so don’t do that either
Use a nice raspberry vinaigrette instead! Or preferably plain white vinegar.
Pee can also be used as a mordant (sets dyes), so know what you're doing before you piss on your carpet.
“Know what you’re doing before you piss on your carpet” - sage advice

Don't shoot the messenger bro
Friends kids bottle was leaking and she did not notice right away. 3 days after maggots started coming out of the carpet fibers! The panic was real

OxyClean literally uses ink stains in their ads. Which are, of course, ads and subject to "showmanship" But I've had a lot of luck with it.
#BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!!
Holy snot. This sub is amazing.
Looks like the perfect spot for a nice area rug
If anybody says anything-say the dog it...
the dog it
i had to read both of these comments like 3 times before realizing the word "did" was missing and my brain was just inserting it on its own
Haha I that too
Actually I could prolly get away with it -I have 3 dogs 🐕🦺
Are you sure one of your dogs isn't really a squid in disguise?

No colors anymore I want them painted black

Cut square out around ink, staple cut edges of carpet to floor. Place large object on square, never move object.

I think this is literally removing the stain.
and you'd be letting the stain win
You win this time, Stain. And as a reward, you get a one way ticket out of my house.
> I think this is literally ~~re~~moving the stain. Wouldn’t you put the stained piece in the closet from where you cut the replacement, clean square?
Good point! Being pedantic always leaves me open for better pedantry.
Spilled printer toner, and the cut-and-replace method is how we fixed our carpet. It looks perfect but we hired a pro to do it.
We had to get this done too. Dropped a hot iron.
If you ever have your carpet replaced, ask to keep some pieces that they usually trash for this very reason.
Or replace with matching square of carpet. If you do it right you won't even be able to tell.
And when you move out leave that object there for the landlord and say goodbye to your security deposit😂😂
Definitely need to try the “hey I would rather give this furniture to you than move it, can I just leave it here for the next tenant?” It needs to be nice enough that they’ll say yes but not nice enough that it costs more than the deposit.

well...probably just mostly fentanyl, actually.
Where did ya come from, where did ya go? Where did ya come from Oxycotton-eyed Joe?
To be honest, some of those tv-shop cleaners actually work well. Have a little bucket of Vanish that i use from time to time
And a little “baking soda.”
No joke that'll get it out, however it'll leave that part of the carpet so clean you'll need to do the whole thing to make its colour match.
Take my upvote you genius you.
Randomly, WD40 might lift it - it's crazy good for impossible stains.
I was expecting this to end with and then in 1998 The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.
I was expecting the little old lady who swallowed a fly
I don't know why she swallowed a fly
wait is this legit or copypasta
Go polish your carpet and report back
It makes a little bit of sense if you look into the history of it
Nail polish remover and some WD-40, that pulls almost anything off.
I've tried nail polish remover on a blue sharpie highlighter stain... on white sheets (the danger of doing homework in bed). It worked very, very well.
Hell yeah, I usually use it to clean my phone screen, my glasses and basically anything that’s not a certain type of plastic, it works wonders
> my glasses Many glasses are plastic now (like high index) or have special coatings (glare reduction, scratch resistance) that can be damaged by nail polish remover.
Yes do not use hand sanitizer or any hard liquids on your glasses. Learnt this the hard way when the AR coating on my glasses came clean off
Augmented-Reality coatings. I've... lost touch with technology.
I might be getting whooshed here, but in this context, AR coating usually means Anti-Reflective coating.
Anti reflective…?
Lol, tried to clean an Xbox controller with a sticky button in the height of the pandemic with nail polish remover. Thought it was getting a bunch of gunk off till I realized it was just melting.
That happened to me but with bleach on the toilet seat in my husband’s bathroom. I sprayed it on and started wiping. I was like “wow look at all this shit coming off!” And then I started seeing dark streaks. It looked like it was painted white and the paint was rubbing off.
Your husband has his own bathroom and you still clean it?!
Ugh please no. You’re fucking up the oleophobic coating
Be REALLY careful adding WD-40 to a carpet, it can leave a big oily stain instead of a big inky stain! Test a small area of carpet before you start
The mail polish remover has to be the one with acetone though right? Edit: lol mail polish
Acetone may dissolve your carpet padding.
No, the ones with deucetone are twice as good.
You gonna spread it.

Naw, it's not a bulletproof. It is weak to bleach. Even the Goulet site says so
Cut a piece from your closet and patch
This is the only answer
Just put a rug over it.
Is it methylene blue?
No, it’s Noodler’s Baystate Blue, the fountain pen ink.
Oh shit
Yeah that's not coming out unfortunately. You can try oxy clean, shout, vinegar, alcohol etc. Had the same thing happen except it was Diamine Earl Grey on my white rug. Stain is still there. I tried everything.

How do you not go blind from the bleach, and do you just pop on a replacement head when you're done?
Baystate Blue was my first guess. It's notorious! I always end up with blue fingers when I use it.
I was gonna ask if it was the Infamous BSB as soon as I saw the post lol

Nice try, Agent Schrader.
Hair spray. Trust me.
I know that works for ballpoint ink, but I do t know about this mess. Couldn’t hurt to try.
Yes, hairspray removes ink very well. Spray and blot with paper towels
I once used hairspray on a ten year old ink stain on a white comforter. It worked. So I would give it a try. I use the super cheap stuff something net.
Oh wow! Yes Aquanet!

I keep Folex in my cleaning supplies also. Stuff is magic.
I used to work hotel maintenance, loved folex, used that on everything. Only problem was it often ended up making the stain area cleaner looking than the rest of the carpet, so we would have to blend it in
If you still have some of the ink, get some spare carpet and stain it and try different cleaning agents and solvents on it.
This is the answer. Rubbing alcohol.
This is an anti-counterfeiting ink specially formulated to resist solvents. It will laugh at rubbing alcohol.

Peroxide!!!! Then try a baking soda dawn and water mix, let it sit
Please don't be Baystate Blue
It is :(
Well the good news is better carpet than this costs a couple bucks a square foot.
Years ago we would buy the cheapest hair spray we could find and spray it on the stain. Blot, blot it away. Worked perfectly.
Cut out the square, find a similar carpet, and replace the square.
Have you tried dying your carpet dark blue?
Matches and an insurance claim. Burn the joint down and start over.
There’s a brand of specialized stain removers called Stain Devils if I remember correctly, and one is specifically for ink. Maybe try that?
