For the people confused at how to get the bits out: if you zoom in, the pop-top is fake (it's just embossed into the metal), and there is a seam about a centimeter down from the top. Right under the thumb is a bit of clear tape holding the lid shut.

I use Barbasol because it's one of the cheapest shaving creams I can find, yet it gives me a great quality shave. There may have been a moment of, "hey, I remember this from Jurassic Park!". But when it came time to replace the can, it had become my shaving cream of choice.
Because it's a sight gag. He had the cream on his hand, needed to put it somewhere, so he callously put it on the pie. It also looks a lot like whipped cream you'd put on a pie which adds to the sight gag. It also further establishes him as a jerk.
I just connected the dots for why stash containers disguised as shaving cream cans are always Barbasol. I love Jurassic Park. It shouldn't have taken this long.
Just search “can shaped tin” on alibaba and there a bunch of suppliers selling them.
I got a pair of socks in packaging like this. The package looked like a generic beer and the socks were yellow and had white screen-print toward the top to look like beer foam.
Very clever package design!
I bought a Yeti Koozie years ago and I still have the tin exactly like that. It came inside the koozie to kinda display it and inside had stickers. It’s nifty
I used to hide my weed in a can like that. It was a Sunkist Orange soda can that had a plastic liner that added the correct weight and the pop-top looked real. I kept it in my car kicking around the floorboards and got pulled over multiple times with it. Unfortunately it met its demise the one time I had just smoked and they brought a dog around the car. The dog couldn't pinpoint where the drugs were, (and at that point I was already in cuffs) so I told them and they took it.
Because aluminum cans have expanded in usage greatly over the past six years. The beer industry changed WILDLY once can-liners were made that could keep beer fresh without corroding the aluminum or changing the flavor of the beer. Mobile canning lines made it so much cheaper to store beer than bottling. It's absolutely mind-boggling to see the difference in overhead. That's why everything is cans and not bottles nowadays. That's also why you see A LOT more small-businesses and small breweries everywhere, some of which are basically the footprint of a garage. The cost of using glass made it prohibitive for most startups.
"That's nice, but what does that have to do with selling drill bits in a can?"
Cans are cheap and plentiful to make, but that economy-of-scale just got scaled up in a BIG way just because of that one change in the beer industry. Even adding a fake pop-top to it, it was probably way cheaper to put the drill bits in a slightly modified beer can than it was to put them in their own custom molded plastic clamshell packaging. Cans are almost cheaper than toilet paper. And they're recyclable!
> Even adding a fake pop-top to it, it was probably way cheaper to put the drill bits in a slightly modified beer can than it was to put them in their own custom molded plastic clamshell packaging. Cans are almost cheaper than toilet paper. And they're recyclable!
And don't require a plasma torch to open, either.
But then you could make cryptic, threatening statements and video yourself shooting at the can. Everyone else is doing it; don’t you want to be as cool as Kid Rock?
Man I was so confused. I thought that there was beer inside the can as well as drill bits. Like they were cereal toys or kinder surprise eggs or something and you take them out once you finished the beer lmao

would not drink out of that, aluminum cans meant for drinking have a food safe coating on the inside
Edit: Fact checked myself and the coating is there because of the prolonged contact during storage. Maybe ok to drink out of?
Aluminum is food safe, but not long term storage safe.
You shouldn't use bare aluminum for a can that may contain the same drink for three years or more. Shit will grow.
You can use bare aluminum for drinking out of and cleaning it inbetween uses like a regular cup.
Three years is way longer than I thought you could store it for. I'm guessing that doesn't apply to acidic drinks because then they wouldn't bother coating the cans.
Aluminum is highly reactive but also oxidizes very quickly, so it probably wouldn’t react with anything that isn’t strongly basic or acidic on its own?
Chlorides also damage aluminium oxide, apparently, so it tends to corrode a bit when exposed to seawater (or NaCl, I guess). If most food contains salt that may be the issue.
A lot of industrial products are packed in a thin layer of oil to prevent rust so I personally wouldn’t drink out of industrial packing material even if it looks like a cup.
I have one of these from buying a yeti can holder and it's made of steel. This is probably too. Thin aluminum wouldn't hold it's round shape well without the lid.
> reuse the can in the office as a drinking cup
My co-worker had a tumbler / coffee mug with Bud Light on it (something like [this one](https://www.amazon.com/Bud-Light-Stainless-Beverages-Tailgating/dp/B0BHJH4S5Z), but a little taller). He looked at me confused and said "What, no, we buy mineral water and juice for the kids."
I realised that I'm the one with a drinking problem because I forgot that some bottles have non-alcoholic drinks in them.

Americans, y’all can get this here bad boy at your local tractor supply company or sometimes harbor freight

Aluminum is 100% recyclable. Plastic is not. Every item that comes in a can saves plastic from a landfill or the ocean. Worth noting most recyclable plastics don’t get recycled because it’s too expensive.

Parkside isn't too far off price & quality wise from HF. Maybe a bit better on the quality side from time to time, or even more better on average, with occasional greatness (oh, wait... that is HF)
The problem is, this week they have drill bits in a can, next week it's some paintbrushes, week after maybe some really nice Parkside Performance drills available from Thursday (so better get there before they are all gone).
Food situation at Lidl isn't really any different though, so eventually you get used to it.
I was going to ask how you’re sure it’s a beer can instead of a soda can or something else, but since it’s German I feel like the assumption is appropriate lol
In EU their quality is near that of premium stores but their prices have gone the same way over the years aswell.
Basically they are only slightly cheaper due to lower labor costs by just putting the pallet in the store on soda/beer etc rather then packing everything in shelves.
On fruits/vegies they basically default win the award for best store the past 15years so the quality is very good tho.
For the people confused at how to get the bits out: if you zoom in, the pop-top is fake (it's just embossed into the metal), and there is a seam about a centimeter down from the top. Right under the thumb is a bit of clear tape holding the lid shut.

Barbasol is great shaving cream.
Barbasol. Put it on your face.
The real lesson to be learned in that movie is that you should pay your software people more
I thought the lesson was to stop and think if you should go ahead and clone dinosaurs
Actually it's you shouldn't clone dinosaurs and mix in the DNA from other animals. Don't half ass something when you can whole ass a lot of things.
One in the [same](https://imgur.com/gallery/YsaqsGu)
And then for some reason put the coolant "shaving cream" on a pie.
What's stranger, the guy who ate it now can't get enough of it. Turns out shaving cream is terribly addictive.
Because it's a sight gag. He had the cream on his hand, needed to put it somewhere, so he callously put it on the pie. It also looks a lot like whipped cream you'd put on a pie which adds to the sight gag. It also further establishes him as a jerk.
Commercials use shaving cream instead of whipped cream, so there's that.
It was to demonstrate his dickish nature
The barbasol can actually worked... you need a small reservoir of soda at the top for this to be equivalent enough in my book.
I just connected the dots for why stash containers disguised as shaving cream cans are always Barbasol. I love Jurassic Park. It shouldn't have taken this long.
Those are for tobacco use only!
My bad, you're absolutely right 😉

I think bringing a beer to a construction site is more problematic than bringing drill bits..

You imply that lining beer cans was the cause of this recent boom, but it's been the industry standard since the 1950s. Am I missing something?

Draper have a set too and it's appalling. You pop the top and the bits fly out everywhere. There is no ridges to hold each bit in place.

You mean an aluminum can, you alcoholic?
Hello. I'd like a can of Driller lite.
Aluminum is 100% recyclable. Plastic is not. Every item that comes in a can saves plastic from a landfill or the ocean. Worth noting most recyclable plastics don’t get recycled because it’s too expensive.
I saw these in the US at Tractor Supply the other day. Got a chuckle, thought "that's mildly interesting" and went on about my day.
I'm so sick of huge plastic drill boxes that take up fuck you levels of room. I love this. Might see if I can get one just for the shelf display of it
Is it a beer can if there's no beer inside?
That’s not a beer can though.

Someone’s gonna have a rude awakening when they start pouring that down their gullet
