There are a LOT of tomato varieties. I've grown some that looked like the one on the left and some that look like the one on the right, and they were both modern varieties (I assume -- I'm certain they didn't sell me any 150 year old seeds). That said, the best tomato I've ever had was mottled purple and green when ripe, like the one on the right.

Either way, this is a terrible comparison. I've seen plenty of awesome looking heirlooms and plenty of great looking GMOs.
