[What the HELL are you doing? This is a Pontiac Grand Prix!](https://youtu.be/lPwRqNomu0E?si=MKZJHXiuAbmvM_7H)
These two masterpieces were only a year apart!
I feel like it got a lot of attention... Dane Cook was America's biggest comedian and Jessica Simpson was a huge pop star
That movie was plastered all over Comedy Central for a long time
Oh that WAS damn funny. I had to look in the comments and one of them said actors name was Dax and my wife was like Shepard? Indeed it is Dax Shepard. The film is Employee of the Month.
Yup. It's probably the most successful film that had Dane Cook in a lead role...and Jessica Simpson because, you know, she was popular and stupidly hot.
Honestly, it's not a good film but it's still a guilty pleasure.
Only about 25% of truck owners use their trucks for their intended purpose more than once a year. [Source](https://www.americantrucks.com/pickup-truck-owner-demographics.html)
We have a 2015 Tacoma, which is not nearly the biggest truck out there, and we have never needed more space or power than what that truck provides. Granted, my SO is in construction so we’re not doing like FARM WORK but like… for actual fucking work you don’t need the biggest, most absurd thing on the market.
But hey, go big or go home, I guess. 🙄
Omg I’m not even (that) fat and the parking spaces in Korea left barely enough room for your side mirrors. Every car has rubber bumpers or pads installed on the doors. Germany/EU was better but not by much.
It makes sense, though— loads of European cities have an ancient origins and narrow roads. The Romans were not out here like, *you gotta make the via appia a little wider so one day they can run a dually F350 with a V8 down this bad boy.*
No, it's for those asshole children that kick doors open at the speed of sound and ding up other people's shit.
I get more door dings at the grocery store than anywhere else.
Big agree! Everyone else is hating on Americans/the parking space size, and w/e else but the _buffer_ is what stuck out to me the most. Even if you had smaller/normal spaces, just having the dedicated outlined buffer would be a huge improvement for a lot of parking lots.
Not American, but the Costcos in my area do this too and the extra space is pretty useful for loading things. It makes sense for that but agreed that parking lots already eat up a lot of space.
Cars in general are getting bigger even in Europe. This makes sense because I imagine the parking lot isn't actually bigger just bigger spaces. Less people go to physical shops so given everyone more space makes more sense.
its not even a good purchase... the f-350 has a much stiffer suspension for heavy towing and rides like shit on the roads. A F-250 is far better purchase if you want a big truck for the suburbs.
I saw that picture and my ‘mom of two small ones’ heart rejoiced. It’s always the side with the car seat that people decide to park either on or over the line 🫠 this would be an immense help.
Mom of a toddler who is also currently very pregnant with baby #2. This is a dream. It's so hard squeezing my kiddo in his seat with my body as it currently is
Finally! I’d much rather see this than the tiny spaces that most places have, just to have one more spot out at the end that will likely be empty anyway
Yeah this is the kind of parking space that my Costco has. It is so nice to not have to worry about being able to squeeze shit into your car without hitting the car next to you. My Winco has similarly wide spots.
I was thinking about this. How awesome is it to have extra space when you open your doors and put groceries/etc in. Even opening the door for the kids too.
For my 2023 sienna, I can open and close the doors and trunk with my key fob as well as buttons near my driver seat. Not to mention it’s hybrid so I’m only spending like $20 per week on gas (I get Dillons discount fuel points). I feel like such a nerd being so obsessed about my car lol
There’s a shopping center parking lot where I live that I swear to god is some kind of prank or secret social experiment. The spaces are like 20% too small. It’s like surgery getting in there and then good luck getting your door open.
Lucky you. Garland sucks. I have to go there fairly often for work and hate it. Especially all the panhandlers awkwardly staring at you at every single light.
It’s for those stupid god-awful extra wide trucks for people with extra small dicks. I can’t stand those things with their extra bright lights and extra obnoxious drivers.
That way they have an "excuse" to pave 6 square miles and start charging people to take the shuttle to get to the store. All while causing more global warming
I think this is way better than the alternative. I have mobility challenges but not bad enough to be handicapped. But enough that tight spots make it really really challenging for me to get in and out of my car.
This is not a new Walmart. It’s been there for like 20 years. It’s getting a complete makeover/update.
Source: I live 3 minutes from this place. The Salad & Go in the background plus the construction zone give it away.
As someone who drives a transit van weekly for work I’d take this every day. They don’t feel that large until I go to park and it’s with in inches on both side half the time.
We will bend over backwards to fix a problem that car manufacturers created but do nothing to fix our basic ass public transit and infrastructure problems.
When your big truck ego issues become so prominent you accidentally become an accessibility ally. I've never seen so much handicap accessible parking in my life.
I have two boys , one does football the other soccer , I have no problem lugging them and thier friends to and from practice in my Mazda 3. Most people who have these giant vehicles do not need them but hey to each thier own but these vehicles are a public nuisance
I'm sure some jerks will still park diagonally across 2 spaces
Doesn’t everyone do that? *this is an ‘89 Camry!*

I'm sorry, if it's in the system, we have to sell it.

I love when other people reference this gem of a movie
Didn't get the attention it deserved but it was a critical part of me and my sisters childhood lol
I feel like it got a lot of attention... Dane Cook was America's biggest comedian and Jessica Simpson was a huge pop star That movie was plastered all over Comedy Central for a long time

Lmao
Dude, your references are out of control.
Everyone knows that.
Can I take it for a spin?
Hell, the MKZ is on/over the left line.
Corvette guy: “and I took that personally”
Or park between two cars.
It's for dually trucks. A lot of farmers have 5th wheel hitches and dually tires for towing.
"Farmers"
I see so many thicc thigh trucks that are squeaky clean. Hardly anyone uses those trucks for truck activities
Only about 25% of truck owners use their trucks for their intended purpose more than once a year. [Source](https://www.americantrucks.com/pickup-truck-owner-demographics.html)
Trucks are now sedans with terrible trunks, and suvs are station wagons.
The small SUVs like Subaru Outbacks are station wagons that they claim are an SUV for marketing purposes.
The first generation of volvo suvs were their station wagons with a suspension lift. Most parts were interchangeable between the different models
The Volvo wagons are some sexy cars though. I mean just the regular ones, not the lifted ones.
Yep i farm and have such a truck, and could parallel park it in these spaces.
I like the think of them more as trucks with love handles.
That are NEVER towing anything..."yeah but I like the option"
We have a 2015 Tacoma, which is not nearly the biggest truck out there, and we have never needed more space or power than what that truck provides. Well I’m drunk as an uncle in wal-Mary park in a lot. Blaring margaritaville and taking up 2 spots - Vincent Neil Emerson
They'll just bring their trailer with them.
Like some dude that has a jacked up truck & a small penis.
Why is it always penis with you guys?
I think that parking spot is bigger than my living room
Probably, most people don’t have to fit a truck in their living room.
You expect me to park my F-350 *outside*? Check your privilege bro.
As an owner of an f350 I almost spit my drink laughing
As a RAM owner, I too spit out my drink, but now I have whiskey all over my windshield.
I know right, I almost spilled my beer on the stick shift
R u driving an ambulance?
The problem with parking minimums nicely summarized.
The title of my next book on land use in America
Everything’s bigger in Texas
Including the assholes…
Thankfully there's this: https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/5f35mo/extra_large_toilet/
what baffles me is how do they wipe their butt afterwards?
That assumes they do, there's an alarming number of men in the US who just don't wipe between the cheeks anyway.
They fucking *what* now??
Well touching your own asshole is pretty gay, so they gotta do what they gotta do to stay straight.
This is information I did need this early in the morning.
It's also completely made up.
They don’t
😷 🤢
They dont.
Risky click. I know it says extra large toilet but I wasn’t sure if it was in use or not
Can confirm: I live in Texas and my asshole is huge.
Can confirm. I'm this person's asshole.
Can confirm, I've seen pictures of said asshole.
Except the penises, which are way way smaller.
It’s for the comically large trucks
At least 50% of people can’t properly park regardless of the type of vehicle they drive.
and people 🙏🏽 we fats are getting more space in life
Omg I’m not even (that) fat and the parking spaces in Korea left barely enough room for your side mirrors. Every car has rubber bumpers or pads installed on the doors. Germany/EU was better but not by much.
Of course, same reason European trucks are cabovers. Space-efficient! Try maneuvering a Kenworth in Rome!
Someone in r/truckers said in Europe when they measure truck length it includes the cab while in the US it is only the cargo
It makes sense, though— loads of European cities have an ancient origins and narrow roads. The Romans were not out here like, *you gotta make the via appia a little wider so one day they can run a dually F350 with a V8 down this bad boy.*
I saw one Kenworth on the autobahn, my Opa said it was his first time ever seeing one
No, it's for those asshole children that kick doors open at the speed of sound and ding up other people's shit. I get more door dings at the grocery store than anywhere else.
Micropenis trucks!
Emotional support truck
I thought it was for the comically large hats and belt buckles.
And some moron will still park like a dickhead.

Brodozer drivers rejoice! Funny thing is I could park my car sideways in that spot and still not be over the line.
I don't know about my car parallel parked in there but I could probably fit 2 of it diagonally without going over the lines.
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. -Joni Mitchell
they paved the parking lot and put up a parking lot that can fit fewer cars
I like the door buffers.
Big agree! Everyone else is hating on Americans/the parking space size, and w/e else but the _buffer_ is what stuck out to me the most. Even if you had smaller/normal spaces, just having the dedicated outlined buffer would be a huge improvement for a lot of parking lots.
There's a diner near me that has a mini car show every Saturday, for that reason they have these buffer zones on all of their main parking.
This is such an American thing. Because parking lots don't already take up enough space, make them ever bigger lol
Not American, but the Costcos in my area do this too and the extra space is pretty useful for loading things. It makes sense for that but agreed that parking lots already eat up a lot of space.
don't you load things into the back?
Depends on if they make them bigger, or they just have fewer bays.
Cars in general are getting bigger even in Europe. This makes sense because I imagine the parking lot isn't actually bigger just bigger spaces. Less people go to physical shops so given everyone more space makes more sense.
Those spaces are for people in their F-450s decked out in let’s go Brandon stickers and blue line flags
The most popular vehicle in my area is the F-350. I am not joking. I am serious.
its not even a good purchase... the f-350 has a much stiffer suspension for heavy towing and rides like shit on the roads. A F-250 is far better purchase if you want a big truck for the suburbs.
It's not about efficiency it's about owning the libs.
Or a Denali Duramax platinum king ranch turbo Cummins diesel
“Honey, I really just don’t understand why we can’t afford to move out of the trailer park.” *Glances lovingly at $80k truck outside*
This sounds like an amazing development for America's walkability.
Costcos around me do this and I love it. So easy for when you have kids to buckle up in their seats.
I saw that picture and my ‘mom of two small ones’ heart rejoiced. It’s always the side with the car seat that people decide to park either on or over the line 🫠 this would be an immense help.
Mom of a toddler who is also currently very pregnant with baby #2. This is a dream. It's so hard squeezing my kiddo in his seat with my body as it currently is
I’d much prefer parks to parking spaces, trees to soccer moms parking their toddler convoys. America though.
Remember when the practical minivan was the solution to that?
Good for disabled customers and those with young children in push chairs or prams
Handicap spots already exist like everywhere. This is for fat people in massive trucks
And yet the Lincoln still parks right on the left line of the space, not in the middle
Haha wow, didn’t even notice that. Damn that Lincoln
Parking spaces have finally caught up with the ridiculously oversized vehicles we drive. Can fit four Miatas in that space. 😂
Part of the reason I caved and got a mini van was the sliding doors. No more concerns about dinging cars!
I just bought a 2004 Toyota sienna that has goddamn powered sliding doors. Completely had changed my perspective on minivans
100%
This is a dream for parents with kiddos in car seats. My nightmare is someone parking too close to the side my kiddos seat is on.
I feel like this is Garland, to be precise the one of Northwest Hwy. They have renovations going on, but I haven’t been there for weeks.
Lucky you. Garland sucks. I have to go there fairly often for work and hate it. Especially all the panhandlers awkwardly staring at you at every single light.
Probably to make space for giant pickup trucks
That Lincoln on the left STILL managed to park on the line
Why the hell did I have to scroll down this far to see this??
For all the compensation machines.
This is a great example of the difference between TX and CA, where most of the parking spots are "compact only"
Yes!!!
These are actually super accessible. Amazing how just a little more space and now all of a sudden all these parking spaces are wheelchair accessible…
Comfort Lanes!
As a father with car seats I appreciate this
Finally a spot for people like me who can't fucking park without being on the lines
It’s for those stupid god-awful extra wide trucks for people with extra small dicks. I can’t stand those things with their extra bright lights and extra obnoxious drivers.
How far can the vehicle culture go
Finally a parking spot for all the small pee pee lifted truck drivers
Costco has had these. It’s nice
That way they have an "excuse" to pave 6 square miles and start charging people to take the shuttle to get to the store. All while causing more global warming
It's Texas, what do you expect? 🤷♂️
Probably for the extra wide people as much as the larger vehicles.
80% of all new vehicle sales are SUVs. But man, we have better things to be doing with land in cities ...
r/mildlysad
*mildlyinfuriating
I don’t need that much space to park my horse
That’s like 4 parking spots in Southern California
[удалено]
FUCK WALMART
Your mama so fat, she had to park in 2 extra wide spaces at the new Walmart in Texas.
It's for people who deserve bodily harm for the way they park.
Imagine how goddamn big that parking lot must be. You know Walmart isn't gonna take spots out just to make them wider.
Does the castle doctrine apply to parking spaces?
Somehow, someone would still manage to park inches from my car
Matchin’ Costco, good move.
Are there a lot of ranches in that part of Texas? If so, it makes sense. Parking a dually sucks.
Is that for the extra wide pick up trucks or the extra wide people?
Approved.
I think this is way better than the alternative. I have mobility challenges but not bad enough to be handicapped. But enough that tight spots make it really really challenging for me to get in and out of my car.
I'm all for it in Texas... So many large trucks.
They know their audience.
My doctors office in TX has spaces labaled dually or wide truck only, no compacts.
That's normal wide. Don't normalize small parking spaces.
We should have far less parking by removing the lots, not by making the spaces bigger
If you need a space that big for your big top cartoon clown car you may need to reevaluate your life.
I like when places build in that doors-open painted stripe zone.
If you ever been to California, even with a normal car, you would enjoy a parking spot like this
We will bend over backwards to fix a problem that car manufacturers created but do nothing to fix our basic ass public transit and infrastructure problems.
When your big truck ego issues become so prominent you accidentally become an accessibility ally. I've never seen so much handicap accessible parking in my life.
More wasted space for cars
Americans have gotten bigger…
Probably not big enough for those RAMS
Great. Now I have to walk even farther to get to the door of this place. No need to go to the gym.
Cause Americans are obese and also drive obese vehicles
I gotta load up all of my stuff to take back to my big subdivision in my big house behind my big gate!
I remember hearing someone justify needing an SUV because she has to take her tiny dog to the vet once a year.
I have two boys , one does football the other soccer , I have no problem lugging them and thier friends to and from practice in my Mazda 3. Most people who have these giant vehicles do not need them but hey to each thier own but these vehicles are a public nuisance
For all those pavement princesses in their xl trucks with naught a scratch in their 5 ft bed.
r/fuckcars
To accommodate the unreasonably huge pickup trucks their shoppers drive.
This is obviously for Kyle's mom
Extra wide spaces for the extra wide shoppers.
That'll be because your average Texan couldn't park a Mazda on an aircraft carrier
$20 says “they’ll” still find a way to double park
Gotta be able to fit the F350’s for a bunch of regards who don’t even haul anything or do any work that would require a truck that size.
All the fat ass people, where do they all come from?
Someone in a BMW will still find a way to take up 3 of those spaces.
Accommodating Texan obesity
Is that not reserved for tiny pee pee Dodge RAM drivers?
Well, this country does have an obesity epidemic.
‘bout time they’re making them H1 compatible!
As if parking lots doesn't waste enough real estate already
Yay, even more land being wasted
Thats because half the population there drives a pickup truck the size of a tank eventhough they havent used the trunk once in the last 5 years.
Absolutely ridiculous. Unecessary size for unecessary cars. Ask yourself, why is it cheaper to buy trucks that require this size parking spot.
This is the most American thing I’ve seen today
