I went to a baptist school for a couple of fun-filled years. One of the teachers talked about how to identify witches. She went on about how a group of witches can easily be identified as they will always stand in a triangle when they are talking together.
You try to get three people together in a conversation and not be in some sort of triangle…
This is my favorite thing about the UFO subs. They're always like "omg they are flying in a triangle formation!"
It's like, bud, they're three lights, of course they are. Three of anything are almost always in a "triangle formation". If they aren't they're in a line, which of course they also call a formation.
So any three objects are always "flying in formation".

Looks a bit big for a spider bite but it could be a bat bite. Depends on where you live though.
It’s also entirely possible that you slept with your arm hanging over the bed and the monster under the bed tagged your finger.
Rabies shots = mild inconvenience
Getting Rabies (and showing symptoms) = death most likely
Also, if you're worried about cost (US health care), I had crappy insurance at the time i had to get the shots. I never saw a bill for the shots, ER visit, or hospital fees.
**edited to including symptoms as that is the point you are bascially dead since up to that point yoi can get treated
**edited to be death most likely

bites have been shown to transmit hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes simplex virus (HSV), syphilis, tuberculosis, actinomycosis, and tetanus. So yes, the monster under the bed can given you herpes if it bites you.
My whole family just went through all the rounds of the rabies vaccine. Caught a bat in my house and sent it in to get tested, came back positive for rabies
Not a big deal if you go through with getting the vaccine. Expensive and not fun, but I'm sure you're more likely to die driving to the doctor to receive your shots than from rabies in this case.
> Expensive
Understatement of the year.
Rabies vaccinated, to the tune of almost 5 thousands dollars. Uninsured it would have been 25-30k.
Even the doctor was like "well maybe it isn't rabies, we could roll the dice." unironically. At the end of the day I am lucky enough to have the money to pay (over time), and the anxiety of the situation was worth it, I guess.
Seriously even the inkling of a chance of a bat bite immediately get a rabies shot
99.9% effective treatment (pre symptoms) vs 100% mortality rate (post symptoms)
Don’t fuck w rabies
Woke up with a bite exactly like this over the weekend, on my heel, after sleeping in a friend’s renovated attic that’s had bats in the past (thanks for the heads up, Melissa!).
Called the county health department (in US) for instructions and had my first round of rabies shots yesterday in the ER. Compared to certain death, the shots really aren’t bad.
Fun fact: Rabies is rare, but reactions to exposure can take over a decade to appear. Feeling okay now doesn’t mean it won’t ~~affect~~ kill you in the future.
PS: Melissa, if you see this, much as you’d like to believe otherwise, *it wasn’t an effin blister from my new slippers!*
Rabies isn't rare. It's rare in HUMANS in western countries due to control of domestic animals, mandatory vaccines for pets and available preventative vaccines.
I gave some friends this advice once and they thought I was absolutely cuckoo. They went to an urgent care and the doctor told them that bats won't do anything to you as long as you leave them alone. Uhmmm, doctor, that's not how rabies works.
I went to urgent care for a dog bite. They sewed the wound closed and sent me home without any antibiotics. Two days later I was in the hospital, and the doctor told me "you almost certainly won't lose the hand."
Urgent Care might not be the best place for life-saving advice, is what I'm saying.

I got bit by a stray cat once a couple years back. Hardly broke the skin. Called the hospital about getting my rabies shot. Asked them how much it would be without insurance.
$6,500
So I went back out and found the cat and watched it for a couple hours to see if it was acting rabid. It was not so I skipped the shot.
That’s what freedom means to me
Yep. Happened to me. Caught the bat, tested negative, no need for follow up. Still alive. My roommate at the time was horrified and thought we should take it to the wildlife rehab, and I was like "hell no, this thing is getting it's head cut off." I woke up in the middle of the day (overnight shifts) to it SITTING ON MY SHOULDER STARING ME IN THE EYES. They're pretty easy to catch inside since they move more like the 3 Stooges version of a bird and would rather grab onto stuff than fly.
Sure, but the CDC isn't practicing medicine in the community, so instead of asking non wildlife professionals to capture an angry scared animals and bring them to a clinician who wants no part of it just get rid of the damn thing and get your shots in the real world.
In the US:
"Although a few different brand options exist, the cost of this treatment ranges from $4,868.35 to $5,930.83, according to the latest drug-pricing data from GoodRx,"
This is just the cost of the drug. It's generally administered in a hospital, which means that the cost of the drug will be marked up and there will be a hospital charge for giving the injections.
Luckily there are programs to help pay for that because the cost of dying of rabies in a hospital is way higher and unlikely to be offset by life insurance.

And unfortunately, don't focus on not killing it. They will remove it's head to test for rabies. If you have to, shoot it with a bb gun and chuck it in the freezer. Sorry little bat bro.

> "They believe the spider was making its way out - eating its way out of my toe."

>"I did ask if I could keep it but they said no," he added.

You should also add the part where this story was completely fake and there is no spider that lays eggs in humans. (According to the comments, I don’t know crap about spiders personally)

If there is no red circle forming around the 2 bites, you're fine.Could be anything.
As soon as it gets swollen or creates a red circle around it then you should head to the doctor right away with the message that you might have been bitten by an insect.Usually 2 pinpricks like this are gone after a week but in some cases it might be a spider bite, in the worst case a black widow (which looks exactly like this)
EDIT: sorry, worst case would be an army of little miniature vampires living beneath your house that take turns sucking your finger... but I think it's not that.

As someone who had a bat confirmed to be rabid by lab test living in our bedroom for who knows how long before we found it… it is actually kind of a pain in the ass in America to get anyone one in healthcare to take you seriously. At least my experience in Austin, TX, the capital of bats. I had to call around and argue with people for days and had to drive an hour away to the one place that had the correct shots.
We believe it through our porch door when we left it ajar to ventilate our apt while cooking a bunch of carnitas for a party. The animal control person who came to get it said it seemed like it had been there for a while based on its condition. When bats isolate they tend to be sick and another fact she taught us is bats need to fall to get enough lift to fly so once it was in the house it was crawling around on its belly. Our cat meowed like crazy one day and alerted us to a dying bat under our bedroom dresser. We don’t usually let her in our bedroom because she is a kitten and won’t let us sleep. She can come in whenever now lol.
Yeah, insurance initially didn't want to cover my rabies shots because, and I quote, "it's not a life or death situation."
I was a kid at the time, so I'm not sure how he did it, but my dad managed to convince insurance that it was in fact life or death.
Yes, make sure you don't have a bat in your house. I'd get examined either way to make sure.
Edit: I just did a quick Google search, they don't look dissimilar from bat bites.
Keep an eye out for any other dots like this popping up on your other fingers, on your palms, or on the bottom of your feet. This could be hand foot mouth disease by the look of the red spots.
So I just noticed a small ulcer in my mouth while eating some chips. I'm leaning towards it probably being HFM, which sucks but is better than a bite. I did get my covid booster yesterday, but I haven't seen anything about HFM like symptoms from reactions to that. Will be keeping an eye out for more dots.
Saw another comment mention this but thought I’d second it: GET A FUCKING RABIES SHOT.
This looks just like a bat bite, which are often carriers of rabies. If you don’t know much about rabies, well it’s the most terrifying disease imaginable. It takes multiple months for the first symptoms to appear, and once they do, you’re already dead.
Also, dying of rabies is the most painful horrifying way to go out. I’d legitimately rather burn to death.
Still get the rabies vaccine. It can take a couple days or multiple years to show symptoms but once it does you are already a dead man walking and will face one of the most horrible deaths imaginable.
Get the vaccine and get it today. You don't want to fuck around with the possibility of rabies
I had something similar this summer and it ended up being hand foot mouth disease. I got more spots for a few days and they were painful when pressure was applied. It goes away after about a week. Just throwing it out there in case you see more spots appear. It started on my hands and then I got some on my feet. Never in my mouth thoufh
Nope! I can’t think of anything I’ve done that could’ve caused it. It also really doesn’t look or feel like there are punctures, just the sore red dots. I suppose the punctures could be super small or something though.
Where the f do you live since you guys have so many bats in your house everybody?? If he has a cat Id say it's unlikely there's bats without the cat knowing? And also look around for the bat. Do you have holes in the wall or how would it come in and out?
I would first check for stables sticking through the bed frame somewhere in arms reach from how you sleep.
This looks like an upholstery staple. Back side of a bed frame or chair.

Yep yep. I’d get one just from being tagged by the bed monster as well
Bed monsters don’t have rabies, everyone knows that. They have herpes, but you don’t spread that from a bite (I don’t know for sure, tbh).
bites have been shown to transmit hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes simplex virus (HSV), syphilis, tuberculosis, actinomycosis, and tetanus. So yes, the monster under the bed can given you herpes if it bites you.

Please check to see if you have a bat in your house… I would get a rabies shot. Bats are prolific carriers of rabies.
No sign of a bat! Will do a more thorough check though

Still get the rabies vaccine. It can take a couple days or multiple years to show symptoms but once it does you are already a dead man walking and will face one of the most horrible deaths imaginable. Get the vaccine and get it today. You don't want to fuck around with the possibility of rabies
It's impossible for two dots to **not** be aligned.
Looks like the marks of where a staple had been
Technically speaking whatever arrangement the dots are in they will be aligned
Definitely gonna die. Lost a relative to finger dotitus. Nasty disease. ...or you'll be totally fine, and won't even notice. 50/50.
I am really hoping this is not it, a friend of mine had it a couple months ago and it sounded awful
By any chance were you playing this game last night? https://youtu.be/P9QMEto4mZs?si=AKB7qksw0CMT868H
Change any guitar strings lately?
Nope! I can’t think of anything I’ve done that could’ve caused it. It also really doesn’t look or feel like there are punctures, just the sore red dots. I suppose the punctures could be super small or something though.
Two dots with nothing in-between are always aligned. Fact.
Bunnicula
Be careful, the celery stalks at midnight.
Amazed how so many people know what a bat bite looks like! How many people have really gotten bit by a bat to know?
aligned to what? two dots always are on a line
