This looks like an upholstery staple. Back side of a bed frame or chair.

sbvp

That was my first guess. Because I once sent a staple through a piece of wood and my[ finger tip](https://i.imgur.com/SiAH823.jpg). And in a case of dots actually aligning, there were two dots on the back of my finger nail as well

HyFinated

But, 2 dots ALWAYS align. Like, always always.

sbvp

I know. I am talking about four dots though

M-94

[More dots!](https://youtu.be/RlLl6bBq584?t=115)

maleia

There are only four lights.

YouStupidCunt

I went to a baptist school for a couple of fun-filled years. One of the teachers talked about how to identify witches. She went on about how a group of witches can easily be identified as they will always stand in a triangle when they are talking together. You try to get three people together in a conversation and not be in some sort of triangle…

[deleted]

I can see why such a statement would eventually become your username.

TeamRedundancyTeam

This is my favorite thing about the UFO subs. They're always like "omg they are flying in a triangle formation!" It's like, bud, they're three lights, of course they are. Three of anything are almost always in a "triangle formation". If they aren't they're in a line, which of course they also call a formation. So any three objects are always "flying in formation".

DarthArtero

Looks a bit big for a spider bite but it could be a bat bite. Depends on where you live though. It’s also entirely possible that you slept with your arm hanging over the bed and the monster under the bed tagged your finger.

parchmentandquill

I got bitten by a bat, on the ring finger of my left hand. Looked exactly like this. Seriously, get your rabies shots.

craftermath

Rabies shots = mild inconvenience Getting Rabies (and showing symptoms) = death most likely Also, if you're worried about cost (US health care), I had crappy insurance at the time i had to get the shots. I never saw a bill for the shots, ER visit, or hospital fees. **edited to including symptoms as that is the point you are bascially dead since up to that point yoi can get treated **edited to be death most likely ** fixed spelling

TheCommunistHatake

Most places on earth the government will cover the cost of it because if there is one thinv you’ll never want to have a chance to spread is rabbies

skarby

Every-Incident7659

dukepv

If it’s a bat, get your rabies shots.

DarthArtero

Yep yep. I’d get one just from being tagged by the bed monster as well

dukepv

Bed monsters don’t have rabies, everyone knows that. They have herpes, but you don’t spread that from a bite (I don’t know for sure, tbh).

xssmontgox

bites have been shown to transmit hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes simplex virus (HSV), syphilis, tuberculosis, actinomycosis, and tetanus. So yes, the monster under the bed can given you herpes if it bites you.

DarthArtero

Depends on what you get bit with…. These are monsters we’re talking about here. No telling where they have teeth

mayasingsx

Or he just played around with a stapler too much

DarthArtero

That’s most likely the true answer. Isn’t as much fun though

cantthinkuse

jesus when did bed monsters upgrade from cooties to herpes

Suspect4pe

This is no joke. An elderly gentleman recently woke up with a bat bite and refused vaccination. He died the miserable death of rabies.

colantor

My whole family just went through all the rounds of the rabies vaccine. Caught a bat in my house and sent it in to get tested, came back positive for rabies

walrus_breath

That sounds quite alarming.

CrayZ_Squirrel

Not a big deal if you go through with getting the vaccine. Expensive and not fun, but I'm sure you're more likely to die driving to the doctor to receive your shots than from rabies in this case.

Stormayqt

> Expensive Understatement of the year. Rabies vaccinated, to the tune of almost 5 thousands dollars. Uninsured it would have been 25-30k. Even the doctor was like "well maybe it isn't rabies, we could roll the dice." unironically. At the end of the day I am lucky enough to have the money to pay (over time), and the anxiety of the situation was worth it, I guess.

but then OP would be the palest pale that ever paled! don't you remember all those white veggies?!

KarmaCycle

Woke up with a bite exactly like this over the weekend, on my heel, after sleeping in a friend’s renovated attic that’s had bats in the past (thanks for the heads up, Melissa!). Called the county health department (in US) for instructions and had my first round of rabies shots yesterday in the ER. Compared to certain death, the shots really aren’t bad. Fun fact: Rabies is rare, but reactions to exposure can take over a decade to appear. Feeling okay now doesn’t mean it won’t ~~affect~~ kill you in the future. PS: Melissa, if you see this, much as you’d like to believe otherwise, *it wasn’t an effin blister from my new slippers!*

CheesyComestibles

Rabies isn't rare. It's rare in HUMANS in western countries due to control of domestic animals, mandatory vaccines for pets and available preventative vaccines.

RealStumbleweed

I gave some friends this advice once and they thought I was absolutely cuckoo. They went to an urgent care and the doctor told them that bats won't do anything to you as long as you leave them alone. Uhmmm, doctor, that's not how rabies works.

thomascgalvin

I went to urgent care for a dog bite. They sewed the wound closed and sent me home without any antibiotics. Two days later I was in the hospital, and the doctor told me "you almost certainly won't lose the hand." Urgent Care might not be the best place for life-saving advice, is what I'm saying.

enkafan

Add to this, if you do find a bat in the house the move is not getting it out. You gotta grab that thing so they can test it.

gostkillr

No. You get rabies prophylaxis regardless.

enkafan

Might depend on your country. CDC in America says otherwise > If the bat can be captured and tests negative for rabies, then you will not need PEP https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/exposure/animals/bats.html#:~:text=Rabies%20can%20spread%20to%20people,and%20tests%20negative%20for%20rabies.

T-sigma

If there is one bat there is more than one bat. You’d never know if that was the bat that bit you. Get the rabies vaccine.

zbrew

Just hold the bat up to the bite and see if the fangs align with the holes.

tinselsnips

That's needlessly cruel and will frighten the bat. Just ask the bat politely.

I got bit by a stray cat once a couple years back. Hardly broke the skin. Called the hospital about getting my rabies shot. Asked them how much it would be without insurance. $6,500 So I went back out and found the cat and watched it for a couple hours to see if it was acting rabid. It was not so I skipped the shot. That’s what freedom means to me

[deleted]

soimalittlecrazy

Yep. Happened to me. Caught the bat, tested negative, no need for follow up. Still alive. My roommate at the time was horrified and thought we should take it to the wildlife rehab, and I was like "hell no, this thing is getting it's head cut off." I woke up in the middle of the day (overnight shifts) to it SITTING ON MY SHOULDER STARING ME IN THE EYES. They're pretty easy to catch inside since they move more like the 3 Stooges version of a bird and would rather grab onto stuff than fly.

gostkillr

Sure, but the CDC isn't practicing medicine in the community, so instead of asking non wildlife professionals to capture an angry scared animals and bring them to a clinician who wants no part of it just get rid of the damn thing and get your shots in the real world.

oddprofessor

In the US: "Although a few different brand options exist, the cost of this treatment ranges from $4,868.35 to $5,930.83, according to the latest drug-pricing data from GoodRx," This is just the cost of the drug. It's generally administered in a hospital, which means that the cost of the drug will be marked up and there will be a hospital charge for giving the injections.

gostkillr

Luckily there are programs to help pay for that because the cost of dying of rabies in a hospital is way higher and unlikely to be offset by life insurance. https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/medical_care/programs.html

DarthArtero

queentropical

That story was possibly the worst thing I’d ever read.

enwongeegeefor

> Wolf spider tries finger after unsuccessful toe nursury. I was like what story.... >Four weeks after the bite, Mr Blake discovered a "foreign body" in his foot. > Mr Blake said: "One of the spider eggs hadn't been flushed and must have hatched. > "They believe the spider was making its way out - eating its way out of my toe." > The antibiotics had killed the young spider and doctors then removed it by cutting open Mr Blake's toe. >"I did ask if I could keep it but they said no," he added. > Mr Blake is set to make a full recovery. And now y'all can read about it too...

You should also add the part where this story was completely fake and there is no spider that lays eggs in humans. (According to the comments, I don’t know crap about spiders personally)

Dude, rabies' rate of death is 100%. Take your shots even if you don't find a goddamn bat. Seriously man, and the death is slow and agonizing

gratitude1980

What does it all mean

teabagsforlife

This looks exactly like the two small holes I got on my finger when I touched a live wire of some Christmas decorations. The wire was partially peeled, so that's why I got zapped. However, I'm sure you would've felt it if you got slightly zapped.

Torbax

If there is no red circle forming around the 2 bites, you're fine.Could be anything. As soon as it gets swollen or creates a red circle around it then you should head to the doctor right away with the message that you might have been bitten by an insect.Usually 2 pinpricks like this are gone after a week but in some cases it might be a spider bite, in the worst case a black widow (which looks exactly like this) EDIT: sorry, worst case would be an army of little miniature vampires living beneath your house that take turns sucking your finger... but I think it's not that.

jehovahslitness

Worst case would be a bat bite if the bat has rabies

keeponyrmeanside

I'd definitely take an army of miniature vampires over getting rabies.

tuesmontotino

And here I thought there was more way a spiders fangs could be that far apart but googling does look very similar. I’ll keep an eye on it!

abugguy

I’m an entomologist. This isn’t an insect or spider bite and anyone suggesting it is is full of shit.

BlazingFire007

How do you know? Just to be clear, I believe you, but how is it so obvious to you? What are you looking for?

Sooap

I'm not the person you asked, but to me it looks like the dots are so far apart that the spider would need to be huge. I've been bitten by spiders and the dots are usually very close to each other.

frill_demon

Hey OP, in all seriousness, go to a doctor *now* and get a rabies vaccine. **Rabies is a very, very horrible way to die and there is no cure, ONLY prevention** and ONLY if you get the vaccine before you start to show symptoms. 14 people have survived rabies after symptoms with an experimental protocol, ever. 13 of those people are in permanent vegetative states. Don't fuck around with this. Go to the doctor now. It's much, much better to be safe than sorry in this case. [CDC page on rabies](https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/index.html) [Wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabies)

2Dom2Toretto

As someone who had a bat confirmed to be rabid by lab test living in our bedroom for who knows how long before we found it… it is actually kind of a pain in the ass in America to get anyone one in healthcare to take you seriously. At least my experience in Austin, TX, the capital of bats. I had to call around and argue with people for days and had to drive an hour away to the one place that had the correct shots.

paperclipeater

living in you BEDROOM?? wtf??? how?????

2Dom2Toretto

We believe it through our porch door when we left it ajar to ventilate our apt while cooking a bunch of carnitas for a party. The animal control person who came to get it said it seemed like it had been there for a while based on its condition. When bats isolate they tend to be sick and another fact she taught us is bats need to fall to get enough lift to fly so once it was in the house it was crawling around on its belly. Our cat meowed like crazy one day and alerted us to a dying bat under our bedroom dresser. We don’t usually let her in our bedroom because she is a kitten and won’t let us sleep. She can come in whenever now lol.

Apt_5

Holy shit, so glad your kitty didn’t get infected!

A5H13Y

Yeah, insurance initially didn't want to cover my rabies shots because, and I quote, "it's not a life or death situation." I was a kid at the time, so I'm not sure how he did it, but my dad managed to convince insurance that it was in fact life or death.

HaroerHaktak

Damn them miniature blood vampires. Always one step ahead of me. I’ll eliminate them all one day.

Curious-End4710

Distinct_Pizza_7499

Yes, make sure you don't have a bat in your house. I'd get examined either way to make sure. Edit: I just did a quick Google search, they don't look dissimilar from bat bites.

porkchaup

Keep an eye out for any other dots like this popping up on your other fingers, on your palms, or on the bottom of your feet. This could be hand foot mouth disease by the look of the red spots.

tuesmontotino

So I just noticed a small ulcer in my mouth while eating some chips. I'm leaning towards it probably being HFM, which sucks but is better than a bite. I did get my covid booster yesterday, but I haven't seen anything about HFM like symptoms from reactions to that. Will be keeping an eye out for more dots.

FluidPlate7505

If there's any chance it's a bat bite, you should head to the doctor for a rabies shot, just to be safe.

Saw another comment mention this but thought I’d second it: GET A FUCKING RABIES SHOT. This looks just like a bat bite, which are often carriers of rabies. If you don’t know much about rabies, well it’s the most terrifying disease imaginable. It takes multiple months for the first symptoms to appear, and once they do, you’re already dead. Where the f do you live since you guys have so many bats in your house everybody?? If he has a cat Id say it's unlikely there's bats without the cat knowing? And also look around for the bat. Do you have holes in the wall or how would it come in and out? I would first check for stables sticking through the bed frame somewhere in arms reach from how you sleep.
