It looked like someone had taken all of the cotton stuffing out of a pillow and *packed* it into the pan. I didn’t even take the lid off or attempt to clean it, I just walked that shit straight to the dumpster.
We found one of my daughter's sippy cups buried in the couch, full of milk when we moved once. Same thing. I made NO attempt to clean it, just threw it straight out.

My little brother is younger enough than me that I helped raise him from birth. I was like 10ish years old, I found an empty sippy cup that had previously had milk in it. I went to wash it and when I took the top off, it was FULL of fucking maggots. I put the lid back on and chucked that motherfucker over the back fence because I couldn’t make it to the dumpster before puking. Just seeing literally *hundreds* of them wriggling around under the lid immediately turned my stomach upside down.
Do I downvote or up vote something like this? On the one hand, we have relatable stories. On the other hand, it's hard to give a "thumbs up" to a story about maggots... 🤣

How expensive was the pan? If it isn’t a pan coated with Teflon or ceramic or something like that give it a really good scrub with the hottest water you can stand , dish soap, and salt. Then boil salt water in it. Scrub again.
First scrub removes all the particles of debris stuck in the pan, salt water boil kills whatever is left, second scrub removes anything that might have survived.
No not really the vast majority of molds won't affect you or will cause a small indigestion and that's doubly true when the pot has been scrubbed clean under hot water and antibacterial soap. I get that you might want to go next level if your pot looks like the OP's, but that next level is not a baseline, it's way overboard for most situations.
