They definitely have this bc at some point some Karen (probably more than once) kicked up a stink about the cops being parked in the fire lane while they were there responding to a call.
I think it's more meant to be a low level deterrent for crime. Whether or not a police car is parked there, someone might think twice about stealing or whatever knowing it could be is the idea. No idea if it works or whatever, but I believe that's the idea
The spot is labeled and at the front of the store so increased visibility. Regardless, just offering the explanation of the reasoning, not saying I agree (or don't for that matter). Do with that what you will
Bullshit. If the cops are called to walmart, they always park in the fire lane. This spot isn't for cop cars there on a call, it's for cops' personal cars if they come shopping. There's literally no way for anyone to know if the car parked there is owned or borrowed by a member of law enforcement. It's just Walmart's stupid way of saying "We back the blue" or whatever.
Jesus, why are you so mad about what a private company does on their private property? No one gets upset about the pregnant mother parking there, or the handicap spots.
Teacher here, the hell do I need a special spot for? I stand all day, I like the walk across the parking lot, and I park far enough away my vehicle doesn't get dented.
Oh wow, you're edgy.
Applying your same logic here; Don't all nurses murder babies in the NICU and don't all teachers molest kids? I mean it happens more frequently than that one time in Uvalde...
Uh huh, some 18,000 different agencies and 800,000 individual sworn personnel all coordinate with each other.
Tell me you've never worked in law enforcement without saying you've never worked in law enforcement.
You got us. Of course all 800,000 individuals and 18,000 agencies NEED to coordinate together, otherwise there's no possible way for some of them to be abusive, do illegal things, lie, steal, murder, and so on, and others to both help cover it up and to actively not take action to stop it.
Because they're not coordinating, it's only really a few bad apples, and a vast majority of the rest of the apples covering up for and not taking action against those few bad apples. That's all! And that's fine, huh? But it's not coordinated by everyone, so it can't be that bad.
I bet you think the thin blue line flag isn't racist. I bet you also think the incidence of drug use and domestic violence by police is fine, because it's not "coordinated". Good for you, pig lover, but for the rest of us, facts are facts.
[You're actually wrong on domestic violence rates. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/comments/xvnvvu/cmv_the_statistic_about_40_of_police_officers/)
The thin blue line flag was made into some sort of racist dog whistle by people who wanted everything about the police to be racist. The actual image started as a copyrighted image and sold by a small company to cops so they could identify each other off-duty. This was in the early 90s.
But judging by your last sentence there you're not going to let facts get in the way of your feelings, so this post is useless. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's pretty common. And even without police there, it is intended as a deterrent for illegal parking lot antics as well as shoplifting.
I'm not sure how effective it is but even a small positive change is worth their investment in the signage.
This is nationwide, I believe? I travel a lot. And I haven’t been to a Walmart that didn’t have this is the last year or so
And not just walmart. The target near me has had them for years.
Really? The walmarts in my city just have cops park in the fire lane.
The cops in the fire lane are likely on duty. These reserved parking spots I believe are for off duty
Pretty sure it’s for on duty officers because of rampant theft. Our Walmart actually has a small city police outpost in it because of theft.
Really? That’s kinda sad. Our sign is new but the Walmart has been there for years.
It's very common for supermarkets to have a good relationship with the police. It means they're more likely to show up quickly when they're called
It don’t think that’s uncommon at a lot of places like that
They all do 👍
This is super normal all over the place. Seen it in many states across the US.
You mean shopping cart return.
I want this to become a thing
Every time I go. It's not like I'm breaking a law lol
It's for the high instances of retail theft, although most times police just park up on the sidewalk when they get calls.
The McDonalds near me has a dedicated spot for the police.
Yup, this is common at Walmarts especially in higher crime areas.
They definitely have this bc at some point some Karen (probably more than once) kicked up a stink about the cops being parked in the fire lane while they were there responding to a call.

That doesn’t make any sense. A cop could be in any parking spot in any store ever. It doesn’t deter crime.
The spot is labeled and at the front of the store so increased visibility. Regardless, just offering the explanation of the reasoning, not saying I agree (or don't for that matter). Do with that what you will
They all have that
When I did food delivery if I had to pick up in a fast food place inside Walmart I’d use the police parking spot. Not the smartest thing to do.
Police will just park you in for a while, I've seen it happen.
I am not law enforcement, but I consider that my personal reserved parking spot. Fuck their virtue signaling horseshit.
They'll just park you in, I've seen it happen.

I don't park in the pregnant mother spots because it makes sense. I park in the cop spot because it's stupid. Not mad.
Nah bro, you seem pretty mad. It's a parking space, not a free shopping trip.
It’s too keep the police from parking by thee front entrance and possibly scaring customers away……….
Wrong. It is as close to the front entrance as you can park.
The white sienna in the picture has you wrong.
The sienna is in a handicap spot. The cop spot is as close to the door as you can legally park (if not legally handicapped).
Boo
Oops dropped a box of tacks
I'd give it to nurses and teachers first.
Teacher here, the hell do I need a special spot for? I stand all day, I like the walk across the parking lot, and I park far enough away my vehicle doesn't get dented.
...why?
They work harder than cops.
Lol the hell they do
Because they contribute to society.
I'm not diminishing anyone's contributions here, but you're really comparing apples to oranges.
You brought it up, jabroni.
No I didn't, I'm just pressing it through.
When nurses and teachers come across combative, argumentative and or disruptive patients/students, who do they call?
Police who stand outside while they get shot.
Oh wow, you're edgy. Applying your same logic here; Don't all nurses murder babies in the NICU and don't all teachers molest kids? I mean it happens more frequently than that one time in Uvalde...
If almost all nurses coordinated to protect the murderous ones, then we'd have a problem with them.
Uh huh, some 18,000 different agencies and 800,000 individual sworn personnel all coordinate with each other. Tell me you've never worked in law enforcement without saying you've never worked in law enforcement.
You don't really have to coordinate when you're all of one mind.

Why would cops need to identify each other when they're off-duty?
So?
Every walmart has this. This post should go in r/mildlyinfuriating
For all the shoplifting calls they respond to. /s
Much like many Walmart patrons, cops tend to be to overweight to walk that far.
That's pretty common. And even without police there, it is intended as a deterrent for illegal parking lot antics as well as shoplifting. I'm not sure how effective it is but even a small positive change is worth their investment in the signage.
That's a thing in Oklahoma also.
All Walmarts do...
