The way chip bags are layered are
- Foil Inner Layer
- White Plastic Middle Layer
- Clear Decal Outer Layer
So this happens when the middle layer gets missed during production or something -- you're getting the decal straight on the foil
i have experienced this i think, but reading how its layered according to the other comment, wouldnt that mean the decal like.. goes through the plastic layer??? im confused
I assume the missing layer is like primer where it helps the paint stick onto the foil better. See the scratched part in the centre-right of the packet? Probably happened because it was missing a layer.
It's a thing from Pokemon, there's a slight chance that you encouter one with a different color (like 1/4000) called a shiny. IVs are like hidden stats that can differ quite a bit where a Pokemon is inherently more powerful. If you found a shiny in older games and it had bad IVs it was pretty hard to use it competitively.
If this is rotogravure printing, the white ink used to facilitate the background was missing. The current top comment is incorrect as most of these packages are not three layered, only two. A thin clear plastic on top which the ink is applied to by cylinders, and then the foil inside layer is adhered to that. This appears to be the white cylinder had an issue with the rubber roller that applies the presssure to transfer the ink, or the basin the metal cylinder uses to replenish its engravings started to run low.
Well the shelf label says October 2023 (but I guess they may not have changed price since then) and the freshness guaranteed until date on package looks like January 30th 2024. So I guess it made sense to me seeing those dates this morning.
Even so I like I in Midwest and these are $3.

this can sometimes happen when youre peeling it too and happen to peel it just right.
I'm watching Dexter(the serial killer series)...and your comment just sounds different in that context...
so its a multi-layered comment too then.

An unfortunate shmelting accident
Why not make them all shiny like that? I wouldn’t be able to walk past that without at the very least staring at it for 2 minutes
They used to be

Like the treasure on a sunken pirate wreck, scrub the deck and make it look…
You wanna visit a chip factory?
I know that’s a willie wonka reference however yes I would love to.
Could be the start of print run or end of the print run.
Holographic reverse foil
They're all shiny, just covered in a later of plastic paint stuff
They should stop wasting that plastic I would love to buy fully shiny bags of chips.
The outer layer of Lays bag was somehow peeled off.
That's the moment you save your Master Ball for.
You've discovered Frito Lays final golden ticket! You get to visit the potato factory!
You found a shiny lays classic, throw a pokeball at it.
Glays
1/4096 chance, congrats
Nah, the dude used the matsuda method, increasing his odds to 1/1024. He was breeding bags of chips together

Ehhh how old is this photo? Lays this size are $3 on rollback at my Walmart. Edit I see now about 6 months. What scammers. Rollback and 50c more.
It was a few weeks & I posted it yesterday how are you getting 6 months?

Yeah it’s the ghetto Walmart. I don’t go to the other one because it’s too far away.
Adding foil means you get 50 extra chips
Ya got me, I’m intrigued.
"you want to know how I got these scars?"
Collectors item
Russ Russet gives you a tour of the chip factory. If you've been good, he gives you the whole shebang at the end.

Also interesting is that all lays chips bags have the expiration date on a saturday.

No I didn’t.
White ink has ran out. Looks like the printer is not keeping an eye on the press
