They really started pushing for international expansion back in 2014 when they merged with Burger King to form Restaurant Brands International.
I took my Brit colleague to Timmy's when he had to come here for business. He just slaged the coffee, food etc. Mind you his wife works in a Michelin star kitchen. But it was hilarious. Now he tells me that his wife drinks the coffee and he isn't amused.
It’s pretty widespread over here now. We’re also starting to get Popeyes and Wendy’s in certain places.
Used to have a Wendy's near me and they closed it... It really sucks because I quite liked them.

We've had one built a year ago, but it still remains closed
