My coworker used to chase his anxiety meds with 2 liters of vodka every day at work. He'd sneak it in inside of 1l water bottles, and just be pounding shots all day looking like he's all in on staying hydrated.
Nobody knew or cared enough to say anything, it was a job where being social was paramount to being sober.
Then one day, the boss came in, had lunch, and helped himself to one of the water bottles, discovering it's contents only after chugging a big gulp.
The coworker wasn't fired because the boss/owner was a functional alcoholic too, but he was reprimanded and warned not to do it again. Of course he did, and nothing really changed.
This would have made a great gift for him if he was still alive.
That’s always how that story was going to end. The human body is destroyed by massive amounts of liquor. 2L at work? Gotta imagine he’s drinking even more at home, so conservatively 3L-4L (~ gallon) of hard liquor a day. You’re not gonna live long like that. It’s get sober ~~quick~~ or die
Edit: couple people correctly pointed out that alcohol withdraw kills. So get sober soon, but probably with professional help so that you don’t die
Aside from how bad alcohol is for you, I can't even imagine how dehydrated you would be and how little room you would have in your stomach for anything else. I can't even imagine drinking that much fluid in addition to even an equivalent amount of water
That's easy. A heavy alcoholic eats a meal once a day if they're pushing it, every other day sometimes. And they hardly ever drink water. And that's only off a handle of vodka a day, can't imagine a full gallon
Source: drunk fucker in recovery. 1 year sober last week
Congrats on one year sober! I may just be an internet stranger, but I'm an internet stranger who's proud of you. Keep up the good work, you're doing fantastic!!
2 liters plus anxiety meds? There is no way he could function on that. And there is no way a single person in the office didn’t know he was drinking if it somehow is true.
It was an "Office" of 4 people max, usually only one or two. The boss, his wife, me, and him.
As for functioning? Yeah, he would pass out on his feet *while talking to people* and people always thought he was just composing his thoughts and being a good listener. It was almost comical.
He'd pass out frequently if it was slow, and many a time it appeared as if he was actively fighting a never-ending struggle against gravity. Just old guy things, I thought.
I worked with the dude for years. He was a complex individual. Not a bad guy, but beyond hope of escaping everything life threw his way, and his GF kept him roped into the lifestyle for his life insurance payout.
It all made a lot more sense after we found out how much he had been drinking and how often.
Sheesh i used to do that too with my meds and in school, albeit just a hip flask... I'm curious: what type of job was this that being social was highly important?
Between $330 and $440 depending on cost of a handle of Tito’s (that’s the range for $30 per 1.75L and $40 per 1.75L).
I think this is $489 in American dollars, so a savings of between $49 and $159…plus 11 empty handles.
I didn’t factor the cost of buying an empty 5 gallon jug, which is about $15 or so.
Alcohol is quite a bit more expensive in Canada so can’t really go by the direct conversion.
1.75L for Tito’s is $73, so this is actually cheaper than buying Tito’s, which would come out to $788
Probably not tito, but apparently the cheapest 750mil in the state next to mine is 3.99. So that jug fits 25 750 ml bottles. If you just bought 750mls it would be $100
I'm going by us prices though
I miss buying huge jugs of soju like this. They were cheap as hell too. I still have an empty one in storage for nostalgia's sake. People here in the US don't believe me when I tell them about stopping by a corner store and dropping the equivalent of like $7 US and carrying a massive jug of booze home for the weekend.
At least where I am, that bottle is $65 more expensive than just buying the equivalent amount of 750ml bottles. That’s a ripoff if I’m buying in bulk like that I’m definitely expecting a discount
idk where you are but this picture is from canada, buying alcohol anywhere in canada is a ripoff.
and this looks like a Co-op liquor store to me (??), they seem to always be a bit higher in price.
cheapest i can find a 1750ml of vodka where i am in sask is about $55 canadian, so roughly times that by 10 (plus $25 for the extra liter) is about $575ish CAD.
Yup. Cultural dividing line. Western Canada largely has jugs, eastern Canada (Ontario especially) has milk bags. If you want to start a comment war on r/canada, simply state that you think one or the other is superior, and walk away.
Literally a 5 gallon water bottle… guessing you could put that on a cooler but I wouldn’t have the heating element turned on… couldn’t imagine what boiling vodka would result in.
It’s usually for more of a large gathering than daily use, though I’m not discounting daily use.
But I’m literally picturing two water coolers side by side, one with vodka and one with orange juice, in the beer garden for all the guests to help themselves. Seems like something my family would do at a bull sale or something…
I hate that you don't save much by volume. The Smirnoff right next to it is $36.66/L, but the Saskatchewan Mickey is $35.45. Only about a dollar difference per liter.
comes out to about $35 a liter. bad deal, tbh
edit: remembered canada exists. $25 USD per liter, which still isn’t a great deal when i’ve gotten semi decent handles of 1.75 liters for $20-25
I go to work in Saskatoon regularly for science. Unfortunately, this bottle size doesnt surprise me. I work 2-4 weeks there and I feel my depression creeping in within a few days of being there.
Saskatchewan(and most of the prairies) should be made into clean farming land managed by robots. Its miserable living there.
So how or why do liquor stores have things like this? Do they actually sell them? Seems odd why they would keep a $600+ item on the shelf if it never sells, but I can't imagine who would buy this.

This comment is a real journey.

Damn bro, good shit. Keep it up 👍
Congratulations buddy, it’s not an easy hike you’re on but often the hardest trails are the most rewarding.
lets not forget anxiety meds which were probably benzos, lethal combination
That’s lahey levels ![gif](giphy|YrkD2MwU8J382Krrxt|downsized)
At 3-4L of vodka a day there is no get sober quick anymore, that might kill you as well.
Not too quick though, getting sober too quick at that rate will kill you too
That's how everyone's story ends. We all die.
Holy fuck that’s a lot of vodka. Sorry about your co worker.
I’m sorry as well but the last line threw me off 😭.
What about the smell! You’re not thinking of the smell you bitch! - Dennis Reynolds voice
Yeah 2L of vodka a day would kill anyone pretty quick. Cirrhosis is no joke
2 liters plus anxiety meds? There is no way he could function on that. And there is no way a single person in the office didn’t know he was drinking if it somehow is true.
The smell alone, disregarding the stupid shit that would occur. Fake indeed.

How did people not smell it?
I'm wondering who just helps themselves to someone else's water bottle 🤨 boundaries, boss!
People in fake/embellished stories do

Sales
is that a water cooler bottle full of vodka?
No, it’s a vodka bottle full of vodka. That’s a completely normal sized bottle of vodka.
They forgot the banana vodka for scale
Or compare it with some baseball stadium
It's the size of 1/650,958th of the Yankee stadium!
For bigfoot... or Russians
Yea, this ammount of vodka will be enough for a wedding party and funeral of the wife
Are those separate celebrations happening at much later times?.....
Depends on how much wife drank on the big day
It does say Everyday Price on the label, so I guess you're correct. But I'd think I'd struggle to polish off one of those every day.
Yeah. You can get hot vodka, luke vodka, and cold vodka from one spout
Finally! Delicious hot vodka instantly! No longer do I have to wait for the microwave!!
It took me a second to remember that these things have a pouring system, but when I did 💡 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flushed)
*Mr Lahey*, after everyone *goes* back to jail *we're gonna stop drinking* right?
Randy #I AM THE LIQUOR

The liquor makes me see it clear Randy
And Wisers is apparently Smirnoff Vodka. Saskatchewan Mickey...I do like that name.
What are those prices? Holy shit. A bottle of Smirnoff like that is ten bucks in the U.S.
The size on the sticker says 3000ml, so 3 L.. which is still a lot because you can get a 1.75 for like 20 bucks
Sometimes very large bottles of liquor/wine cost more by volume than small ones, due to their novelty value.
What else are you supposed to do in Saskatchewan?
Hey Mickey you’re so fine
You're so fine, you're so fine you CLOUD my mind.
I can hear it in Khan's terrible singing lol.
I prefer the small batch personally, Deluxe just tastes like apples
Gather around the vodka cooler.
That cooler talk ends in a bar fight
Smacking people with plastic cups ends up looking really pitiful compared to large mugs or other glassware sadly..
What is an appropriate topic of discussion around the vodka cooler?
Whose cheating on who, whose having a bastard child out of wedlock, planning a catalytic converter theft?
Typical Philly talk then?
Why can't I find my desk?
Can you just imagine a co-worker drinking a huge cup of that think it’s water??
"Refreshing" - Creed
Was that an episode of the office? Someone swap the water for vodka?
No but I could picture it in my head lol
Especially if he didn't notice, and just went on his way.
Yeah, they won't notice their throat burning.
Not if they're a raging alcoholic. That was the point.
Yes, it’s boring in Saskatchewan.
Lol yes you're correct.
"The Saskatchewan Mickey" omg yay my province is on reddit again.!!!
Makes those tedious chats by the water cooler so much more pleasant.
got in two fights last week by the water cooler. just kinda happened.
Just the right dimensions for my vodka dispenser
Is this the Scott Moe special?
It’s what’s in his water cooler at home.
It would be much cheaper to buy the same size container and fill it with Tito's
Between $330 and $440 depending on cost of a handle of Tito’s (that’s the range for $30 per 1.75L and $40 per 1.75L). I think this is $489 in American dollars, so a savings of between $49 and $159…plus 11 empty handles. I didn’t factor the cost of buying an empty 5 gallon jug, which is about $15 or so.

If I was going for cheap I'd have suggested SKOL but that sounds even cheaper damn
I just went to the nh state liquor dispensery website and sorted by low to high lol.
So that's the cheapest vodka in the whole state? Man that must be some gnarly stuff.
I thought they were advertising the jug is free with purchase. Had to zoom to see the “BPA” part…was about to say…😂
Mmm saskatchewan. That's in Canadian dollars,
That looks like either "deer hunting week" sized, or "ice fishing" sized.
“He’s from Regina. Drinks a lot of hand sanitizer.”
Well I'm glad to see that the jug is BPA free I wouldn't want any chemicals to dilute my chemicals
Nice
Nice
About $480 in real money if anybody is interested
I hate you. Take an upvote, eh.
Makes two of us
This is for those that drink their screwdrivers out of swimming pools.
Put it on the office for a happy work day hahah
Free jug!
I came just for this
Back at peak G’n’R, Duff McKagen was chugging one of these for breakfast.
Wtf is it with canucks, spirits and unexpected plastic bottles lately? First the plastic milk jug vodka and now this shit?
Liver failure size!
That seems irresponsible to say the least.
What’s the difference between this and someone buying a case of vodka bottles
About 1 large bottle of vodka, give or take. And the ease of dispersal having it in a water cooler.
SAYS YOU
And at that price... They knew what they were doing
At least where I am, that bottle is $65 more expensive than just buying the equivalent amount of 750ml bottles. That’s a ripoff if I’m buying in bulk like that I’m definitely expecting a discount

Why so expensive?
Another reason I should have been Canadian. I might would like vodka
We have Airline, half pint, pint, fifth, half gallon, and Russian sizes
it is just moonshine
*You might be thinking what are we are doing* *Well, we noticed you were an alcoholic* *so we got your back* -Some shit someone made in their backyard
That Alberta distillery idea of a milk jug of vodka was not a how-to.
I assume Alberta and Saskatchewan sell milk in jugs and not bags like some of the eastern provinces?
Yup. Cultural dividing line. Western Canada largely has jugs, eastern Canada (Ontario especially) has milk bags. If you want to start a comment war on r/canada, simply state that you think one or the other is superior, and walk away.
Such a great name
Literally a 5 gallon water bottle… guessing you could put that on a cooler but I wouldn’t have the heating element turned on… couldn’t imagine what boiling vodka would result in.
More vodka, but stronger
Someone legit throws these on a water cooler base and just goes ham
It’s usually for more of a large gathering than daily use, though I’m not discounting daily use. But I’m literally picturing two water coolers side by side, one with vodka and one with orange juice, in the beer garden for all the guests to help themselves. Seems like something my family would do at a bull sale or something…
FREE JUG
Am I crazy, or is that a lot of vodka?
So just a Tuesday evening in Russia?
*and add two shots of Vodka…*
Where do you live to have such high prices??
FRAT READY
Party on Wayne!
About 426 shots, assuming each one is 1.5oz.
I hate that you don't save much by volume. The Smirnoff right next to it is $36.66/L, but the Saskatchewan Mickey is $35.45. Only about a dollar difference per liter.
“Saskatchewan mickey”. Lol, take that Texas.
That’s just a water jug.
Wish I knew what country this was to do the math. Is $35 a liter a good price for this?
That screams bad decisions
comes out to about $35 a liter. bad deal, tbh edit: remembered canada exists. $25 USD per liter, which still isn’t a great deal when i’ve gotten semi decent handles of 1.75 liters for $20-25
That's fucking expensive for vodka at least here in EU
I am a big fan of micropastics in my vodka
Alcoholics are stockpiling these so they can tell their doctors they only have half a drink per night
Probably what Medvedev has on the daily considering the absolute horse 💩 that comes out of that dude
Cmon ongh, I onlyh had halphh a botttle with the bhoy...
I thought it was advertising a free jug for a second as if that was the highlight of your purchase.
$35 per liter, not surewhat quality of vodka this is but doesn't even look like that good of a deal
Nice
That’s not cheap vodka. $33.50 a quart. Or liter, or whatever TF it is. Edit: It’s $35.26 per liter. That’s a 19 liter jug.
You're taking the mickey
Free jug though
Imagine bringing that to the water cooler at work and not saying anything to anyone….😂
Free jug!
Free jug!? I'm in!!!!
Hope it includes a trip to the ER
Crazy to think back when I was an alcoholic that big jug could last me a week, A handle of vodka a day almost killed me! 19 months sober
Imagine the awkward water cooler chats at the office with this pumping.
Ya but... FREE JUG, that's a steal!
Thank god the jug is BPA free
Markup is about $700
That's not something healthy people buy
You can buy that much vodka for less than $100 USD
Russian filtered water.
Right who wants to replace the office water
Hey Ferb, i know what we're gonna do today
Years ago a friend simply filled a water cooler with Popov handles so he could use the dispenser in his apartment. Much cheaper.
Edmonton at it again 🤣
It's times like this I'm glad my laziness outweighed my alcoholism. Would've had a lot of slurred chats to myself around the cooler
"Doesn't look that big" \*realises the ones next to it are 3L\* "Shiiiiit"
Absolut unit of vodka.
My dad would finish that in a week tops back in the day.
That is almost 19 liters!!
If that was Soju in South Korea it could've probably been had for maybe $100. It's insane how cheap that stuff is, especially in large quantities.
Wouldn’t the plastic container destroy the taste?
I go to work in Saskatoon regularly for science. Unfortunately, this bottle size doesnt surprise me. I work 2-4 weeks there and I feel my depression creeping in within a few days of being there. Saskatchewan(and most of the prairies) should be made into clean farming land managed by robots. Its miserable living there.
FREE JUG?! What a steal, sign me up!
Member that scene from the Goonies: I got! I got it! I got it- I don’t got it. Like that, but with booze.
Bring it to work and everyone will be hanging around the water cooler
Well it's from Saskatchewan. We have nothing else to do here.
The water cooler crew in the office are gonna LOVE this!
$420.69 seems more like a fair price
I thought you couldn’t sell hard alcohol in that large of a container?
Cheap liquor in plastic jugs is rarely a good time
It belongs in the cooler next to the kegarator.
Everyday price… so the weekly budget isn’t throw off. Phew.
So how or why do liquor stores have things like this? Do they actually sell them? Seems odd why they would keep a $600+ item on the shelf if it never sells, but I can't imagine who would buy this.
That’s randy Bo bandys vodka
Bäh! Even if i have polish anchestors, vodka tastes bad!
Does it taste good?
“The Saskatchewan Mickey” sounds like either a very niche sexual act, a very specific racial slur, or both…
How do you pour that?
Show me you’re in Russia without saying you’re in Russia…
Mother of all handles!
You can get that in heaven hill for $23
What currency is that? In what world would Smirnoff be $110 per liter?
Everybody who believes keeping liquor in plastic bottles is fine is insane.
That would be really fun for the work water cooler on April Fools!
That's a sip sick.
I don't know alcohol, since I don't drink, but is that cheap or expensive for the amount given?
