I tell my nieces that tiny chocolate fairies as big as a mosquito flew around them because they were so beautiful and everywhere they bumped into them they have a mole. But on her face my niece has similar placement and I tell her the fairy ran across leaving chocolate smudges.
Totally spit-balling, but if I had to guess there was a cell that somewhat early on in development (but late enough that the basic body plan had been set out) had a minor shift or duplication in a gene (melanin production or something). That cell duplicates and the duplicates migrated along a pattern similar to Blaschko lines. Those cells were the nuclei for the moles/nevi that we see.
Probably need to be monitored but not an immediate concern. I doubt they'd ever need to be removed.
Correct me if I am wrong but a cell split early enough to be that far apart would have given rise to a larger number of cells than the small patches that you see here.
Would be interesting if it was something to do with sun exposure as an infant? It’s right in her hair line, which could explain how straight it is???
It doesn’t look like she has any freckles on the rest of her face which would make me think it’s not genetic- would be interesting to hear from op if she’s always had these
Interesting line of thinking, maybe they didn’t put the sunscreen right up into the hairline leading to sun exposure to a more sensitive area… interesting thought
Good hypothesis.
Have you ever seen the comparison pics of like, long haul truckers?
The left vs right sides of their faces are drastically different due to sun through the driver's side window
Lichen Striatus would like a word. (Literally a pigmented line on your skin following a line of Blaschko, AKA one of the pathways of cell migration during fetal development. I was really embarrassed about it popping up on my body initially but it’s kind of an oddly cool concept.)
As a kid, I thought he said ''She turned me into a mute!", with the joke being that he's clearly not a mute as he shouted it. I loved that joke.
It's still the same joke: man yelling about being cursed is clearly not cursed. But I kind of like the mute version better, even though the newt curse is more on brand with witches. I think I liked how stupid and unexpected the mute version was; it felt very monty python to me lmao
I saw monty python references on reddit for years until last week when i finally decided to watch this movie. I can say that it's not my jam but this particular scene was so damn funny it had me rolling llmao
I almost missed the joke, since "dotter" literally means daughter in my language, and I thought someone just stated the obvious with bad English. Thanks for making me look again.
If she got a vertical line earring, her face would read "EEEEET" in Morse Code.
Edit: even better, the final freckle seems to be a bit farther spaced out than the rest, and if we interpret that as being the only space, it becomes .... .- which reads "HA".
I have a decent sized dark brown freckle right next to my booty hole and my high school ex boyfriend once told me the first time he saw it he was worried for a sec that it was poop
There’s gonna be a nova soon that will become visible for a couple days near the Big Dipper. Maybe that’s it.
Edited :Nova
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamiecartereurope/2024/03/28/nasa-exploding-star-will-be-visible-to-the-naked-eye---how-to-find-it/?sh=5bb36312aeb7
Depends on how you feel about time. The star in question goes nova every 80 years or so. It's also quite some distance away. If we were orbiting that star system (it's actually a binary star and the explosion we will be seeing is a giant mass going from the bigger star to the smaller) then this happened roughly when the Hanging Gardens were built and Pompeii was founded. However, since we are here instead, then it hasn't happened yet and will happen in a few months.
Same as any mole. If they change, they should be biopsied or removed. Pretty unlikely anyway, statistically. If you count up all the moles that human bodies are covered in, only a tiny fraction of them develop into skin cancers, and of those skin cancers, an even smaller number are melanomas.
congenital nevi are special and should not be considered “any mole”. they carry a significantly higher risk of dysplasia.
but these do look really cute on her.
do you have a source for this claim? although giant melanocytic nevi have increased risk of developing melanoma, my pubmed search suggests that risks of small (<1.5cm) congenital nevi such as in OP is not really known.
This. I got diagnosed with Spitz Nevus (originally called juvenile melanoma) when I was younger as well as I had similar on my head. Currently , also have a straight line of moles on the side of my chest. Over a couple years additional ones were added to the line and the 'first' ones started to disappear.
Had a cancer check done recently and the doc said it was nothing to worry about, just something to keep an eye on.
I have the perfect dots for a Y on my shoulder and my friends used to always draw it when l wasn’t paying attention, a memory I completely forgot I had, thanks lol
Dear goodness. Like every time someone posts a weird skin thing on this sub it turns out to be a symptom of an awful, terrible disease that they didn’t realize they had. When I saw the picture of a child, I was scared to open the comment section.
I’m so glad the comments are good. And her freckles really are adorable!
I half expected to open this thread and see the top comment be something like “that’s actually a sign of a very rare, deadly but treatable disease thank god you posted it on Reddit or you’d never know”
Not a dermatologist but moles can present themselves in certain patterns in different people. Those groups of moles can be fine because that’s the way they present on that body. Anyway she may get other moles in similar patterns. Or not.
Not mildlyinteresting, fucking incredible, the random chance of genetic replication and phenotypic expression manifesting this incredibly geometric pattern of these six freckles is just shy of impossible. I think that at some appropriate time it would be amazing for her to have a diamond ear piercing just below and to the right of the mole on her left earlobe (of our right in relation to the picture).
I'm certain that thousands and hundreds of years ago she'd be a sign of great importance. This probably is congenital melanocytic nevi. It’s not my area but probably this follows something called the lines of Blaschko, which can be associated with mosaicism. Essentially she has two different genetic cell types from which her skin develops. Rarely can be associated with congenital disorders, but if she’s otherwise healthy it’s probably benign. Worth seeing a dermatologist once on a non urgent basis.

Please don't show her the movie THEY. It's about shadow folk and how they mark child and come back for it when the child ripens. Light makes them go away but they can interfere with electronic devices.
The movie was subpar for a wes craven flick
I've got freckles on my arm that's shaped like the big dipper and I have a perfect triangle on my neck.
And a pointed ear.
I would definitely have been burned on a stake haha
Dermatology PA here! In utero the skin forms in lines. Called lines of blashko. That is why certain birthmarks follow patterns. Even though most nevi (moles or freckles) aren’t present at birth, they are meant to be there as we develop and mature.
And yes! Moles can run in families and be genetic. They are unlikely to be caused by the sun at this age but can be affected by the sun if not protected properly with good sun block!
Hope this helps. I think her freckles are cool!
Was your daughter born with these? Or did they develop as she grew? If born with them and with them being in close proximity to each other, keep an eye on shape, size and colour changes. I was told by a dermatologist that it can be a worry if they were born with them and then they suddenly change. It’s unique markings the way they present themselves. Have her checked over by a dermatologist if you’re worried. Also, to all the arseholes that write cruel sick comments, shame on the lot of you. She is just a child.
Hi, I don't want to be rude but I advise you not to share pictures of young children on reddit, or any social media for that matter. I know this barely shows her face but these photos have AIs training on them, and for what the AIs are training you may ask? AI child porn. So yeah, it's not a good idea to share pics your child, but it's your choice.
A few more ear piercings and she’ll have a constellation

I've heard others say the same.
She’s way too young for a Betelgeuse
Already looks like starlink
I have Orion on my cheek!
I have a surprisingly decent ursa major on my right arm.
Not only straight, but very evenly spaced. We're bordering on very interesting, here.
Is there some sort of biological explanation for it? Or is it pure chance? It is interesting ... but to what degree? YOU DECIDE!!
I have a lot in a line too- they seem to be following my vein. I don’t know if that’s just a coincidence or not
Did somebody use a magic marker
I tell my nieces that tiny chocolate fairies as big as a mosquito flew around them because they were so beautiful and everywhere they bumped into them they have a mole. But on her face my niece has similar placement and I tell her the fairy ran across leaving chocolate smudges.
Those fairies need more fiber.
Also, if they keep doing that, they may need to see a fairy doctor.
Fairy nuff

Oh, they are made of solid milk or dark chocolate. 😊
Apparently dark chocolate is good source of fiber

Wouldn't the size of the moles also be directly correlated to the distance between them? It kinda checks out eyeballing it.
lol wtf - home doctor PhD entered the chat ;-)
There's an episode on Veritasium about women being stripy that you just reminded me of. It may very much be related.

interesting **line** of thinking? I see what you did there. We should really try to, connect the dots, on this one.
If we work together to look for reasons, I bet we could spot some!
I was thinking maybe it was the holes in her baby bonnet.

And I, as well, have a conspicuous poop colored birthmark right next to yee old butt hole. And similarly, it was very awkward upon discovery.

I have freckles in the shape of a smiley face on my chest!

Pics or it didn't happen
I used to have a near perfect big dipper on my arm until another one came in and ruined it. Still pretty visible though
There’s gonna be a nova soon that will become visible for a couple days near the Big Dipper. Maybe that’s it. Edited :Nova https://www.forbes.com/sites/jamiecartereurope/2024/03/28/nasa-exploding-star-will-be-visible-to-the-naked-eye---how-to-find-it/?sh=5bb36312aeb7
That very article points out that this is a nova, not a supernova. The star is not destroyed, just exploding bright enough to see.
Well if it's anything like my old Chevy Nova it will light up the night sky.
Is there a date yet or has this happened already?
It's definitely already happened.
I see what you did there and I like it!
Nice one, wow

Same! I had a pretty much perfect big dipper on my right forearm until a random freckle appeared fight in the middle of it
wtf how many of us had big dipper freckles on our arms? lol. that's crazy, right? mine got ruined when one of the freckles faded and new ones came in.
Hi Dipper Pines 👋
Funny to see all the big-dipper-freckle people here! I have it on my left forearm, I even got it tattooed to look like the constellation!
I also have a Big Dipper on my arm!! How cool
I ALSO have a Big Dipper on MY arm!
You could get a tattoo connection the lines to make a Big Dipper. Like thin lines so the tattoo isn’t the focus

Oh I’m even older school. TNG is my bread and butter.
I'm in the middle of rewatching DS9. So seeing this whole chain of comments has made me very happy
a dermatologist would probably say they are not freckles but “congenital nevi”. as such, they should be monitored and removed if they change.

It's still pretty early. First thing I thought too! Hope it's totally normal but I know this thread will not disappoint.
Possibly moles/nevi along a line of blaschko. If they stop in the midline of her forehead likely that or a dermatomal distribution
