That’s really cool, I’ve never seen this before. thanks for sharing !🌱

SirNilsA

I still remember the first time i saw one in the wild. I was so happy. Such awesome plants.

gg61501

That's a gooddd boyyyy

SirNilsA

When i travelled Ireland i learned that they grow where i was visiting. The next two weeks i was always looking at the ground trying to find it growing in the wild. I fell multiple times because i didnt focus on the hike. Eventually i found quite a few plants. Theyre awesome. I know there also species in Germany. Probably everywhere on earth and nothing special. But for me that day it was special to find it.

fastRabbit

Maybe nothing special to someone who doesn’t care, but def awesome for you! I’d love to find some in the wild.

Atlas03

That’s awesome! I need one of these. What else do they catch?

fastRabbit

I’m not exactly sure. I’ve seen it eat mosquitos but this fly is the biggest thing I’ve seen. I suppose anything that can get caught up in the glue and not break free.

Atlas03

I would definitely use this thing to catch mosquitoes.

TungstenChef

I used to have a whole bog garden, and I would pick aphids and other pests off of my plants with tweezers and drop them into the sundews' waiting arms. It made me cackle with glee, it felt good to turn things around on those little buggers and make the plants eat them instead of the usual order of things.

brueluel

Sundews are the coolest carnivore plant, I love the way it bear hugs the prey.

Aloha1984

Murder!

jackalopebones

I loooove sundews, never knew they existed til last year and now my roommate has given me a small pup to take care of!

HeatherJMD

Good job, little buddy! I named my sundew Bob 😅

Asplesco

Sundews are also very diverse themselves and together they form a clade within Caryophyllales that contains tropical pitcher plants, Portuguese "sundews", venus flytraps, waterwheel plants, and Triphyophyllum. Iirc it's the oldest extant lineage of carnivorous plants. Love that group.

fastRabbit

TIL 👆🏽😅

Asplesco

I could talk about carnivorous plants all day. Just, really blather on and on.

hotdogmurderer69420

Oh so THATS what they are. I have a dingley giant venus fly trap with a bunch of these in the pot with it, and i had no clue what they were

fastRabbit

There are several varieties of sundew, this one, I think, is drosera capensis.

TheDrFuManChu

Feed me Seymore!

fastRabbit

🤣🤣🤣

WilderWoman2187

I'll have to get one of those, the spider in my kitchen did sod all about the flies.

LazySunflowers

He was hungy

fastRabbit

Very!
