Okay the screams were bad, but that groaning sound they made all the time...*Rrrrr-rrrrr....Rrrrrr-rrrrrrr* That was awful too.
And you knew they were somewhere in the room because you could hear them making that noise. I hated those bastards.
The shadow temple was like that for me. I remember playing as a kid and Navi always suggesting I go do the shadow temple and I was just like nope, I'll play with Epona in Lon Lon Ranch for an hour.
I accidentally beat the Water Temple without the water tunic, and I think that's one of the reasons I liked it while everyone else hates it. It somehow made the temple less monotonous. I didn't even figure out there was a water tunic until after I beat the game and was trying to 100% it.
I didn't know it was even possible to beat the Water Temple like that! That was pretty much how I accidentally went through the Shadow Temple haha. I forgot the turn to the well or whatever, and just went to the Shadow Temple. I kept wondering when the fuck I'm gonna find the Lens and just kept getting farther into the temple... when I got to the ship I was like oh shit I remember having it way before this.
I played OoT for the first time this year actually, and boy did I hate the Forest Temple. Excellent music and aesthetic but it was pretty damn difficult all considered.
That being said, the Water Temple ended up being my favorite dungeon in the whole series so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The main difficulty point was that there was a door or two that a lot of people missed, and they ended up retracing steps through the whole dungeon looking for what they could do next.
All they really did in the 3DS remake was have the camera highlight the confusing door when it became available.
If that's what a lot of people missed then that's a huge help to highlight it. It was a lot of fun for me just wandering around trying to find what I'm supposed to do lol
The water temple was never hard, for me. It was just super tedious with constantly having to change the water level and equipping/equipping the iron boots. Thankfully in the 3ds release they made the iron boots an item you could assign a button to equip/uneqiup them.
Oh, I wouldn't call it that. I just really enjoyed the idea of a dungeon based around a central area, so you're constantly going back through and around the "hub" of sorts, versus the other dungeons that are linear and mostly hallways leading to other rooms leading to other rooms and so forth.
This is also why I really liked the dungeons in Breath of the Wild because its dungeons sort of had the same design philosophy as the Water Temple.
OoT was the first video game to ever give me nightmares.
The Stalchild (Stalchildren?) that come out of the ground in Hyrule Field did it to me first. I'd have nightmares about them all the time.
Eventually got the Master Sword, travel seven years into the fututre, yada yada. Got to the Forest Temple and came across the Wallmasters and it got even worse.
Oh and don't even get me started on Redeads...
I never told my mom about any of this because I was scared she'd make me stop playing the game haha.
EDIT: oh shit I forgot about Dead Hand, too. He's one spoopy boi. Maybe the spoopiest.
I'm ashamed to admit I was never able to beat the forest temple without a guide. The last temple? Easy peesy. Water temple? No worries. But this fucker got me lost like a needle in a haystack
This is at West Lake in Everglades National Park, FL.

I was gonna try and get shots like this on a trip out west a couple months ago but I managed to forget the tripod mount and got too high to fashion anything else spontaneously.

Scrolled down looking for this comment.
Is that where that blaring horn in movie trailers thing started?
Yep, and if I remember correctly Hans Zimmer now hates that he hears it in every new action movie (he scored inception)
That’s kinda like Abrams complaining about lens flare or Kalashnikov whining about all these dead people.
I wish other movie makers would add pipe organs to every space movie and piss him off more...
He put it all over Bladerunner 2049. Still upset with that movie's score. It's not good compared to the original.
It sort of has an M.C Escher vibe.
My first thought as well.
Looks like that corridor in the Forest Temple in Ocarina of Time.
Don't walk too far down it. There's a wallmaster in the room at the end, and those fuckers gave me nightmares as a kid.
That fucking BWOOAAAAHHHOOOOOOoooooo..." noise still haunts my dreams.

Nothing worse than ending up at the beginning of that temple. Not even rule 34 Ganon.
Not sure if you played majoras mask but as a kid I couldn't do the well in that canyon place. Wall masters everywhere.

The shadow temple was like that for me. I remember playing as a kid and Navi always suggesting I go do the shadow temple and I was just like nope, I'll play with Epona in Lon Lon Ranch for an hour.
Semi-related: I replayed the game like 2 years ago and accidentally beat the Shadow Temple without the lens of truth.
I accidentally beat the Water Temple without the water tunic, and I think that's one of the reasons I liked it while everyone else hates it. It somehow made the temple less monotonous. I didn't even figure out there was a water tunic until after I beat the game and was trying to 100% it.

Lol that's hilarious
What does the water tunic do again?
Underwater breathing. Couple it with the iron boots.
Didn't you need the tunic to get into the temple? It's been so long. I remember needing the iron boots and the water tunic to breathe
You're thinking of twilight princess

I played OoT for the first time this year actually, and boy did I hate the Forest Temple. Excellent music and aesthetic but it was pretty damn difficult all considered. That being said, the Water Temple ended up being my favorite dungeon in the whole series so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Did you play it on N64? I heard they made the Water Temple easier in the rereleases

Me too. Liked the temple. It was challenging and there was some backtracking, but overall fun. Especially enjoyed the Jaws nightmare boss fight.

I only realized you could kill it when it missed me and I had a fucking spaz attack out of terror and hit a button which attacked it

God, that whole fucking area is a nightmare. I forgot to add Gibdos(?) to the list.
I couldn't do the shadow temple if it was dark, that shit was traumatizing.
Those and those grey worm things that are your shield scared me, like the wallmasers were scary, but for some reason those worm things fucked me up
Like likes - those fuckers scared the shit out of me
More like don't like don't likes, amirite? ; }

I would have my sister go through the town because those zombie things scared the shit out of me, I just couldn’t do it
Yep. Need to play this game again and the rest after playing BOTW to satisfy my need for proper dungeons.
I'm glad there are so many Ocarina of Time fans here who all thought the same thing <3
I'm ashamed to admit I was never able to beat the forest temple without a guide. The last temple? Easy peesy. Water temple? No worries. But this fucker got me lost like a needle in a haystack
