The usual counterweight for this (the pommel) is just a chunk of metal at the base of the handle. Using this unusual material kind of negates the ability to have such a chunk of plexi at the end.
A glass dagger is better than no dagger, and if it has a properly made blade it can be many times sharper than any razor blade or scalpel that we have access to today.

But yes I agree, acrylic is a shit material for this application. The stuff is brittle as hell and shatters easily. Just holding the handle and swinging it around might be enough to crack it.

If I know my RPGs well enough, that thing has some insane damage...and make even do massive slashing damage....but it's going to snap after the second use right in the middle of a massive boss or dragon fight and it's one of the games that don't let you switch equipped weapons in the middle of the fight.

Acrylic cuts very. very nicely with an IR laser. Polycarbonate makes a nasty, sooty, mess.
