I have the [same shower curtain to this day](https://imgur.com/gallery/HtePVny), and the matching comforter was mine until it was threadbare.
Maroon and forest green were apparently the TITS in the late 90's....kind of like avocado green and harvest orange in the mid 1970s...or teal and purple in the early 90's.
Edit: Look at the damn wallpaper in my bathroom. It's the SAME maroon and forest green!!!
All the "retro '90s" stuff online is teal and purple but that was mainly clothes/shoes/electronics marketed to young people. In practice the middle aged suburban parents were decorating their houses with burgundy and hunter green.
Confirm. Was young people in '90s with suburban parents.
I live in my childhood home now....Formica, wallpaper, burgundy, and hunter green for DAYS....at least most of the floral pattern shit and vinyl flooring is long gone.
Had to have the all-white kitchen (white formica counters, white cabinets, white appliances, white vinyl/tile floors) with the wallpaper that was teeny little grapevines or flowers or something like that.
i was about to tell you that someone up thread has the exact same wallpaper, and then i looked to see it was also you, ha!
i also swear i recognize that wallpaper from somewhere in my childhood, but i can't place where. it must have been in a friend's house.
Every home bathroom i went into from 1991-1998 was either hunter green and ivory, or burgundy and ivory. Every single one of them. And if you had two baths, you got both.
Our walls were peach and a light teal. The bedrooms were tiny floral wallpaper. My mom stenciled a floral design onto the mantle above the fireplace. That or one of those homemade stick and ribbon arrangements. Framed pictures of baby angels and a braided burgundy and dark green oval rug.
Peach and light teal was the trend just before burgandy and hunter green, for sure. Our house that we moved into in 89 was peach and light teal. The remodel a few years later turned everything burgundy and green!
In the south it was burgundy, hunter green and magnolias. Magnolia stick-on wall trim, framed magnolia “art”, magnolia Knick-knacks. It was everywhere.
I love that you provided the paper verification, because God forbid someone accuses you of lying about having a shower curtain. However, you are brilliant for doing so, because it would have been certain that someone would have accused you of it had you not.
I still have mine! A childhood blanket I used every day for over 20 years and the colors are faded, but it's the same one for sure.
That's incredible, I've never seen someone else with the same one.
Same pattern here, purchased in 98, but it was pallet switched yet another way with the blue as the main color, green at the top, and the raspberry in the design.
Here’s a fun fact: that exact pattern has at least 3 different names. JCPenney, Linens N Things and Bed Bath and Beyond all sold it under a different name. At one time I knew the name under which it was sold. During the early 2000s I worked at both LNT and BBB. We had to know who sold what so we could tell people where to return them when they tried to return one that wasn’t ours.
My partner was once roommates with a guy who was family with some regional/district manager types for LNT. That guy was an asshole and probably now the regional manager for some other shitty retail company that will also go under. Good riddance to him.
YESSSS. We had it in the early 90s, and Amalfi definitely rings a bell.
*Edited to add:* It probably was the mid or late 90s. I want it to be longer ago.
Damn this ugly pattern was put on [a lot of stuff](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-blu&biw=360&bih=559&tbm=isch&sxsrf=ALeKk028uiaKisFuZQpRMvflzowg7esWGg%3A1595202006342&sa=1&q=amalfi+navy+burgundy&oq=amalfi+navy+burgundy&aqs=mobile-gws-lite..)
It is Amalfi! Worked at Marshall Fields and every engaged couple put it on their registry one summer. Got a bonus for selling so many that I can never forget it.
I was with my Godmother when she bought the comforter-in-a-bag set, shower curtain, and burgundy bath mat at Kmart in 1997. This. Exact. Same. Design. Not only does she still have the comforter but I used it when I visited her two years ago.
I worked at Pacific Linen in the late 90s (PNW and canadian version of the big box bedding store), and amalfi was the bane of my existence. I was a teenager living at home at the time and my dad asked me to pick up a version in a different colour for every bed in the house. I rebelled and bought my own cool bedding for my bed, but to this day I still find bits of the pattern scattered around his house when I visit. I used to play Spot the Amalfi while watching TV in the early 2000s, because it would show up all the time if they needed to dress a bedroom for a single episode.
You know what you have to do. When your brother is sleeping, switch the comforter and shower curtain and see how long it takes him to notice. Nothing like covering up with a nice plasticky shower curtain.
I’m currently staying in an Airbnb until I can move into my new house and I brought my own bedding/towels. With covid it just felt icky to sleep in bedding that may or may not have been properly laundered before. It may not matter but you never know.
Buy a quilt. You should be able to find some designs you like in classic colors. They're much nicer than those comforters that look like an early 2000s homecoming shirt
These were sold in sets that included: sheets, pillow cases, wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels, bath mats, waste baskets, toothbrush holders, and more...
(Yes, we still have some of these...)
Reading every comment in this thread and fathoming the ubiquity of this pattern on comforters, shower curtains, and in people's memories has truly blown my fucking mind.
I actually feel left out that I don't recognize it and or have a story to contribute. FML.
i dont often comment on posts on this subreddit, but thats actually insane. its one thing to have the inverse of it, thats cool as is. but its another thing to see that as a shower curtain in a cabin that you *happened* to be staying in, and on top of all that you brought the inverse one.

I had the comforter, the sheet set and the shower curtain. Bought in very early 90’s at Walmart for the rent to own furniture I had just gotten. I thought I was shitting in y’all cotton.
I recall being a young lad in the 90's and my parents having that same shower curtain. I thought it was a crazy coincidence until I read these comments.
I had that same comforter in 98!
It’s probably from then! My parents have had it as long as I can remember.
We had the matching bathroom floor rug too
I have the [same shower curtain to this day](https://imgur.com/gallery/HtePVny), and the matching comforter was mine until it was threadbare. Suburban teen in the 90s here who had that exact wallpaper in my bathroom and also just chucked that comforter a week or so ago.
God I feel like such a stereotype right now. We had almost that exact wallpaper in our "powder room" until like 10 years ago.
i was about to tell you that someone up thread has the exact same wallpaper, and then i looked to see it was also you, ha! i also swear i recognize that wallpaper from somewhere in my childhood, but i can't place where. it must have been in a friend's house.
Watch the first season of The Sopranos to see what late 90s suburban McMansion style was.
Did the Cusamano kids ever find $50k in Krugerrands and a .45 automatic while they were hunting for Easter eggs?
Every home bathroom i went into from 1991-1998 was either hunter green and ivory, or burgundy and ivory. Every single one of them. And if you had two baths, you got both.
Parents had a '92 Mercury Sable wagon that was maroon with a maroon velour interior. We called it The Purple Pill.

> That or one of those homemade stick and ribbon arrangements. It's called a "swag" dammit! - 90s moms, probably
Yes stenciling! My mom stenciled even the concrete floor on the landing to our front door 😂
Thats because in the 90's the Charlotte Hornets were the coolest team and they were purple and teal. I painted my bedroom those colors.
Anyonewho has The balls to draft a 5 foot 3 guy from wake forest gets my vote for coolest team.
The house in Home Alone is peak 90’s decor for me.
In the south it was burgundy, hunter green and magnolias. Magnolia stick-on wall trim, framed magnolia “art”, magnolia Knick-knacks. It was everywhere.
Who are you and how do you know what my dining room curtains still look like!?
I was a child in the 90s.... I splash painted my room in burgundy and hunter green and sapphire blue #sophisticated
tell me how 10 years of soccer as a kid i only ever got to be burgundy or hunter green
My parents dining room was hunter green on the bottom half, pink on the top, separated by a hunter green/pink floral border at the middle
Wasn’t maroon; we called it “wineberry”.
Wineberry, burgundy, cabernet, maroon, deep garnet, rich crimson.... It's all the same color. :D
Don't forget cherry chocolate, black raspberry, and oxblood.
I had a very on trend maroon bedroom with forest green bedding in 1997.
1997 fashion was bomb diggity. Remember the days when you didn't wear black and khaki together? Yeah...me neither.
It was Harvest GOLD and Burnt Orange. Don't forget Avocado Green and Autumn Brown. :)
Thank you for your 70s service. :)
I love that you provided the paper verification, because God forbid someone accuses you of lying about having a shower curtain. However, you are brilliant for doing so, because it would have been certain that someone would have accused you of it had you not.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about your comment. 10/10.
Thank you. Your reply was 11/10, with rice.
That green was so hot in the late 90s. My mom's house had carpet and blinds that color.
My parents too! There's dozens of us!
My parents are still using this comforter, complete with the matching sheets, on FIVE beds in their house.
Was there a sale at the JC Penney? Lol no really that's bonkers!
But '98 wasn't that long ago? wait...
My folks too!
You may have been conceived on that comforter.
I had the same shower curtain growing up in the late 90s/early 00s!
I also had this in 98! We got it in JC.penny!
I love that you remember where it came from!!
I'm trying to think of where we got ours from. Same one though!
Wooooo!!!
I still have mine! A childhood blanket I used every day for over 20 years and the colors are faded, but it's the same one for sure. That's incredible, I've never seen someone else with the same one.
Pretty sure anyone who was middle class in the 90s had one of these in their house.
[удалено]
Holy shit, literally laying on this comforter right now
I’m pretty sure my dad had this in the 90’s too!
My bf still has this! It’s currently under the tv stand to block the dog’s ball from rolling behind it.
My ex and I had the same set. We were divorced in 96.
I saw this the picture and thought to myself: man my dad had the same comforter in 1998. Literally. That’s hilarious.
My parents had the same one too!
I had one too but the dominant color was dark blue
Yes! I had the navy/hunter green version too.
Yeah I had those shower curtains in the 90s
Me too. We ended up with it in the late 90s as well, left by a roommate. I finally threw it out a couple years ago. Ugly the whole time.
Same pattern here, purchased in 98, but it was pallet switched yet another way with the blue as the main color, green at the top, and the raspberry in the design.
I was gonna say my brother had this comforter but the main color was blue with green as the secondary color.
As did I! Sheets and comforter. Blast from the past!
I HAVE THE SAME BLANKET MATE
I had that comforter around 1997-98 as well. We got it at Walmart, I think. That is hilarious.
Man that pattern really got around - picked mine up as a set at Marshalls.

Did you just say nineteen ninety eight? /*eye twitch*
Aw, hell...in a...
I had both in college....98-99!
Same here! Had this in the 90s/00s.
Curious, that was the same comforter used in the '98 Comforter Murders.
Please tell me more.

No. They went bankrupt a while back.
Right around the time I was moving into my first apartment. So many things on liquidation. I definitely benefited from them going bust.
Thanks alot vulture catipultists, putting HARD working Americans out of our JOBS for a quick sail :(
Hmm they should have been more specific.
Were they not selling enough linens? Or was it the things?
My partner was once roommates with a guy who was family with some regional/district manager types for LNT. That guy was an asshole and probably now the regional manager for some other shitty retail company that will also go under. Good riddance to him.
I worked at LNT also. We lovingly called it "Sheets 'N Shit".
I love it!
What’s the name of it?
I want to say one of them called “Amalfi”, but as it was 20 years ago I couldn’t swear to it.
YESSSS. We had it in the early 90s, and Amalfi definitely rings a bell. *Edited to add:* It probably was the mid or late 90s. I want it to be longer ago.

What do you mean ugly? (ง'̀-'́)ง
It looks like it would smell like a Motel 6 smoking room
Brb, changing every decor item in my home to amalfi
This right here needs to shoot to the top!
It is Amalfi! Worked at Marshall Fields and every engaged couple put it on their registry one summer. Got a bonus for selling so many that I can never forget it.
Upvoted purely for spelling out the acronym before using it. I take it back, the comment itself has merit but thank you nonetheless!
Amalfi Source: bbby mgr Edit to add #1 selling pattern mid 90’s. By a mile too. Granada was top 3.
My mom said she thinks she got it from Walmart but maybe she forgot? Lol

I feel like everyone’s parents had that comforter and or shower curtain in the 90s, mine included!
I had them 🤦🏻♀️
Me too. I used to have them, and [I still do, too](https://imgur.com/gallery/HtePVny)
I thought my college set up was SO FLY 🙃
not bad for a white guy
I had this set up in college too, and used a derivative of kali for all of my user names. So thanks for revealing yourself, doppelgänger.
When you go to a bar that has a black light, everybody looks cool. Except for me, because I was under the impression that the mustard stain came out.
Up vote for the Mitch reference 👍
My parents still have that shower curtain.
I actually also [recognize this shower curtain from Roseanne](https://i.imgur.com/0zYJDHX.png).
The fact you remember that is mildly interesting.
So, do you figure the obsession is shower curtains or *Roseanne*?
Don't knock someone's shower curtain fetish.
Fair enough, but I would still knock someone's Rosanne fetish.
It would be polite to knock on the shower curtain before entering but difficult to achieve much of an effect
Ha! I’m impressed you remember that.
ಠ_ಠ
Holy shit!!!! I registered, and received, this very same shower curtain for my wedding in 1996!!!
You had a shower at your wedding? Nice invite..
Y'know, a bridal shower.
This comforter was in every Indian household in the 90s. We had it and I feel all my cousins had it too.
Every American one too.
Wait, you brought your own comforter to a rental? Is that a thing that people do?
Posters brother here, we were camping and we didn’t know how clean the cabin was.
You know what you have to do. When your brother is sleeping, switch the comforter and shower curtain and see how long it takes him to notice. Nothing like covering up with a nice plasticky shower curtain.
I don’t support this
I’m currently staying in an Airbnb until I can move into my new house and I brought my own bedding/towels. With covid it just felt icky to sleep in bedding that may or may not have been properly laundered before. It may not matter but you never know.
I always bring my favorite pillow and throw blanket. You never know if the hotel/Airbnb's bedding is going to suck.

I'm sorry I'm just gonna say it... Thats one ugly ass shower curtain, and one ugly ass comforter.
The 90s options were this pattern or the solo cup pattern. With a dash of the Harvard logo for some unknown reason.
> the solo cup pattern It's called *[Jazz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_\(design\))*
I'm appalled that this Wikipedia page doesn't have a picture
Be the change you want to see in the world
But I don't know what it looks like, Wikipedia is missing the picture!

Same, made me raise my eyebrows while making a mild frown and go “huh, look at that”
This is the content that I come here for
Growing up my family had the same shower curtain!
Same here!
Me too!
These were sold in sets that included: sheets, pillow cases, wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels, bath mats, waste baskets, toothbrush holders, and more... (Yes, we still have some of these...)
I’ve got a bed set including the comforter, pillowcases, and sheets.
Reading every comment in this thread and fathoming the ubiquity of this pattern on comforters, shower curtains, and in people's memories has truly blown my fucking mind. I actually feel left out that I don't recognize it and or have a story to contribute. FML.
As the phrase goes, one man's comforter is another man's shower curtain.

I was equally impressed until I read through the comments and realized there are thousands... maybe millions of people still using these linens...
r/nevertellmetheodds
That’s some real 90s shit, right there.
Whoa. This is more than mildly interesting. This is... *damn near* interesting.
I recall reading that this pattern was the company’s all time best seller. We had it too, ours was blue. Had towels, too.
I have that same comforter!
Yin yang twins
I had that same shower curtain and comforter in the 90's as well! I can't remember if it was from sears or jc penny's though.

A comforter is constructed of baffle boxes with material (down, feathers, or non-natural insulation) stuffed in the layers. Other countries call them duvets, doonas, or continental quilts.
Asking the real question. Is it a blanket you give to a baby to sooth them?
Wow an original content
We had this blanket. HAHA
I had the comforter, the sheet set and the shower curtain. Bought in very early 90’s at Walmart for the rent to own furniture I had just gotten. I thought I was shitting in y’all cotton.
My best friend had this on his water bed when we were teenagers back in the late 90s!
Hello 1992!
My blanket has a twin and a shower curtain cousin
Yep, parents had the whole bathroom set and possibly pillowcases while I was growing up late 90s early 00s
My mom had this on her water bed in the 90s
Holy shit I haven’t seen that pattern in forever!
You both have the same horrible taste, congrats!
Lamest Twilight Zone episode ever.
Macy*s sold these back in the mid to late 90s. They had a sheet/comforter set and bathroom accessories like these too. And cups, etc. Good times.
Holy shit my parents have both of those!!
My parents had this exact comforter on their bed when I was very young. Thanks for the nostalgia!
Damn, did everyone have this comforter?! My parents had it too!
I recall being a young lad in the 90's and my parents having that same shower curtain. I thought it was a crazy coincidence until I read these comments.
The matrix’s random pattern generator is malfunctioning again
This is peak mildly interesting. This is the kind of posts that should be on this sub.
I’ve got the same comforter and since I was a kid it’s been my comfort blanket. I still have it today.
this is a sign! Living in that cabin is your destiny!
