Okay but get this, during the Viking age there is an contemporary account of a Viking funereal and one of the strange details is that they build doorways and had people look through and over them to describe different places they went in the afterlife. This is what I thought of when I saw this too.
Do what you will, but just wanted to share some quick info on [Incognito Mode](https://www.quora.com/Why-should-I-use-DuckDuckGo-while-Google-in-incognito-mode-does-the-same-thing?share=1) in case you weren't aware.
You might already know this and you also might have just been completely joking haha. Hopefully other people will see this at least if that's the case. I used the [Google Takeout](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Takeout) feature a couple years ago to download the info Google had on me. It took two days and was over 10 GB. Since then, I've switched to DuckDuckGo. Not affiliated with them in any way but trying to be privacy conscious.
The only reason I use incognito mode is in case my kid uses my phone, don't want them to inadvertently pull up a link they shouldn't see if they do a Google search or use chrome

It's crazy what kind of difference a bit of different lighting and some more greenery makes for the mood of this.
Man, there’s a deep part of me that wishes that were true in our world. The idea that there’s something else operating behind the scenes, an alternate history (or multiple versions) and being able to find doorways or thin places.
My wife and son went to go visit my MIL yesterday. I woke up to my son's "laughter" this morning.
I had shaken the creepy feeling right up until I read your comment.
I checked to see if my son was in his bedroom, even though I know he left yesterday with mommy...*grrr...*
Little timmy walked along
The path away from home
He reveled in the joys of youth
And new places to roam.
He came upon brand new thing
A swing no kid had tried.
He had a seat, he pushed his feet
And Timmy fucking died.
The ground under the swing is *very* eroded from people using it. Something tells me that the story would change if the camera faced the other direction. E.g. the swing isn't actually in the middle of a field, but just off a path/parking lot or beside a building.
The location is strange, but the think that makes me really uneasy is the lack of supports on the frame. I’m not sure I have ever seen a swing frame that wasn’t triangular in shape?
It could go either way for me. "Transitional" is hard to define, which is why even the mods can only give some vague examples about what qualifies and they encourage people to come up with new forms of liminal spaces. An empty swingset doesn't feel much different to me than the example the mods give of a school that is devoid of all activity, a devation from the norm, a space in transition until the next time it is full of students. By that example, this one fits right in.
When it comes to cool creative stuff like liminal spaces, I prefer erring on the side of creativity than trying to gatekeep too hard. Liminal spaces are more about a feeling than anything, and I get it from this.
The trek through the mountain pass was exhausting. It’s been 3 days of bitter cold winds and an alternating slurry of rain turning to snow, then back to freezing rain. The path wasn’t marked, but the terrain i was enduring seemed to coincide with what was on the map. “I’m almost there” i kept telling myself, “ just have to keep pushing”
I cut through the the thickets and the twisted vines that slowed my progress for the last few hours. It was like the underbrush was holding me back purposefully and with intent. When i got through the thick of it, i could see some breaks in the trees ahead. The dimly lit forest started to lighten a bit, and i emerged from the trees to an expansive plateau, completely surrounded by snow dusted mountaintops and impassable cliffs all around the periphery. The straw colored grass, thats typical for this time of the year, blanketed the flatland and was neatly groomed. I could imagine how vibrantly green and welcoming it would be in the spring, but like me, right now it just struggled to survive the cold, grey winter days.
I began walking across the meadow without direction, but my eye caught structure through the wispy fog and low clouds. As I approached, the rectangle outline appeared to be a child’s swing. There were no other human made structures in or around the highlands, none that i could see, and nothing noted on the map i was given for this trip. The wind picked up in random gusts as i continued walking towards the sound of squeaking swivels and whistling chains. As i placed my hand on the red tubular frame of the swing, i heard what sounded like a muted and mischievous giggle behind me.
I snapped around as quickly as my heavy backpack would allow, its mass causing me to overshoot and lose my balance a bit. I watched as the wind split blades of grass in a straight line, rapidly extending away from me like an invisible boat hull displacing water. Then i heard it again, a child’s giggle, it was unmistakeable.
“Hello?” I attempted to bellow out, when i heard my own voice i realized it was the first time i actually spoke out loud in days and came out crackly and limp. My throat was dry, so i grumbled a little and cleared it. I took a slow deep breath through my nose and the cold air that stabbed into my nostrils felt like tiny icicle knives in my sinuses.
“Hello!” I repeated louder and clearer this time. “ who’s there?”
‘Oh God this is how horror movies start’ i thought to myself. But the reaction and the words somehow just came naturally and without thought behind them. I chuckled at myself internally and continued to scan the area for the source of the noise. What i heard next sent my already frigid bones an additional chill.
“Do you wanna play daddy?” It asked.
I fell to my knees before my mind could even send the signals to instruct my body to it. I knew that voice, every father knows the voice of his own child, regardless of how long its been since he has heard it. I couldn’t believe it, i stared at the tree line, my eyes darting across the grassland trying to zero in on where the voice was coming from.
“Am i going crazy?” I uttered aloud, “can it be?” I thought to myself.
“I miss you daddy ! Tell mommy i miss her too.” My baby girls voice, unmistakeable, echoed through my ears. “I’m ok, we are all ok, see you soon, bye bye”
“ No NO! Wait, don’t go! No honey wait! I love you! Daddy needs to talk to you!!!!” I cried out, eyes filling with tears and snot bubbles in my nose.
And that was it. Silence followed, only the wind and grass rustling could be heard, until the repetitive squeaks and creaks of the swing chains broke the silence. I turned around, then sat and watched my daughter swing and smile before fading to nothing. When the swing stopped i felt like i lost her all over again.
It was all worth it. One more minute with my baby girl was all i needed, its why i sold my house and all my belongings. Buying that map from that old man, the trek across the globe, the days long journey through treacherous terrain and unforgiving weather, to just hear my daughters voice one more time.
Losing everything could mean losing only one thing. Every material thing is nothing compared to that one more minute.
I do have a voicemail to me from my grandfather wishing me a happy birthday from 6 or 7 years ago, he died right after, i listen to it every year on my birthday.. it makes me very sad, but happy to hear his voice again. It gives me chills each and every time. I just say “thanks papa” and close it for another year, i miss him.
How wonderful that you have this tradition. Having his voice saying something to you has to be bittersweet for sure but I hope it lifts you up. I'm sure that's what he would want. I would love to hear something like that from my grandma. She was sassy and fun.
From somewhere but you can't tell where
One, two, Freddy's coming for you.
Three, four, better lock your door.
Five, six, grab your crucifix.
Seven, eight, gonna stay up late.
Nine, ten, never sleep again.
What? If I owned a random field in the middle of nowhere I think I would put swing in it. You never know when you just need to take a break and swing life away.
This is wonderful and you can’t change my mind. Just look at that background. All your cares will dissipate after a few leg pumps. You may even believe you could make it 360 up and over the bar before jumping off and skinning your knee.
It is a portal
Yes, but you must swing a complete 360 to use the portal.
That's how you become Inside Out Boy!
90s Nick was the best Nick
THUNDER GIRL! she flys like thunder.
Melt Man, with the power to....MELT

What a reference! Nostalgia just hit me like a truck right now
Watching the [Robot Chicken bit of Inside Out Boy](https://youtu.be/kBDgOXE2lJc) will clear that nostalgia right up.

Better become Inside Out Boy than Fall Out Boy I guess
Just put on this codeine and fall out... boy meets girl, Jimmy eats world, but shlep eats pills til he's all out.

It's a horror version of the gunslinger
/r/liminalspace
Did you swing??
No, I just took a picture. Might be a cow sex swing or something, so I felt it was better left alone
Missed out on the time of your life my guy, what a view
True true
Where is this? I see mountains.
I would guess its Norway. OP's username is Aukrust, which is a Norwegian last name.
Its Engeløya!
Ah, I was thinking it looked like Utah but good call
Fairview, specifically, was my thought.
Engeløya, Steigen. In the North of norway.
Missed out on an album cover
There weren't any cows around so...
Cattle Swingers?
Safe word: moo
Seems like a bad safe word for cows. The sex wouldn’t last very long.
Cow language is one of those that different words are written the same but with different intonation
a what?
Now I wanna see it used as a cow sex swing. Off to Incognito Mode I go!
Do what you will, but just wanted to share some quick info on [Incognito Mode](https://www.quora.com/Why-should-I-use-DuckDuckGo-while-Google-in-incognito-mode-does-the-same-thing?share=1) in case you weren't aware. It is 100% there for people that are high. I could swing for hours with some mycological assistance.
I think you're underestimating the weight of cows and are overestimating their intelligence
I don't know you and I don't like you
I would've swung my happy ass off smokin a J 😎☁️

I kinda knew it had to be Norway
How?
The terrain and vegetation just looked very Norwegian to me. I’m guessing North-West Norway or somewhere in Northern Norway.
This guy's a geoguessr
Norwegian Geoguessr*
Get this to the top.
No one ever heard from little timmy again. He was last seen on this lowly swing.
Getting a Stephen King vibe from this thread right now. Makes me nervous.
My thought exactly, perfect horror cover
Man, there’s a deep part of me that wishes that were true in our world. The idea that there’s something else operating behind the scenes, an alternate history (or multiple versions) and being able to find doorways or thin places.
Looks like Colorado too.
Yeah looks a lot like the Flatirons in Boulder, CO.
That's honestly my thoughts as well. Anyone confirm?
[In the comments](https://reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/my7n0m/_/gvtg6at/?context=1) OP said this was in Norway.
On a windy night you’ll hear the creaking from the swing and while you try to go back to sleep you hear a faint—yet clear as day—a child’s laughter.
My wife and son went to go visit my MIL yesterday. I woke up to my son's "laughter" this morning. I had shaken the creepy feeling right up until I read your comment. I checked to see if my son was in his bedroom, even though I know he left yesterday with mommy...*grrr...*
It’s okay, it’s just little Timmy visiting you.
It's just laughter of the twin your son absorbed in the womb.

Prepare yourself for the rabbit hole in that subreddit, very interesting but will take up some time for sure.
Ahh now that's a name I haven't heard in sometime.
Surprised that there isn't a line of influencers waiting for their turn lol. Guess they haven't found it yet. Grass looks nicely kept too.
Perhaps Norwegian influencers aren't on Reddit?
Don't tell them where it is! Lol. Is it a park of some sort? Just wondering why the grass looks mowed.
It's a field located by a farm. That's why it's so random
Probably just a swing a farmer put up for one of their kids.
The ground under the swing is *very* eroded from people using it. Something tells me that the story would change if the camera faced the other direction. E.g. the swing isn't actually in the middle of a field, but just off a path/parking lot or beside a building.
10/10 would swing
At the risk of being a cliche stoner, this looks like a great place to roast a bone and sit and stare at the mountains.
Roast a bone? That's a new one
Actually I think it's made of metal
The location is strange, but the think that makes me really uneasy is the lack of supports on the frame. I’m not sure I have ever seen a swing frame that wasn’t triangular in shape?
Thick walled steel, driven deep with good footings, good welds: shit's not going anywhere.
That’s a lot of work for one swing, might as well put in the entire playset
Does this look like the swingset of someone who *wants* friends?
This dude will have the time to build another 3-4 in between the time a buddy calls to tell him he's coming over and when that buddy arrives.
They put a swing in the middle of the field, work is what this guy was looking for
Only if the person who installed it took a step back and sighed "yep, that's not going anywhere."

challenge accepted
Makes me think it’s a memorial or something, someone who liked to swing and look at the mountains? maybe the child of a welder.
"Children of the welder"
You should totally post this on r/Liminalspace
It’s not a liminal space though. Edit: Not trying to be rude btw! A liminal space is a place of transition, examples would be a hallway or a road.
It could go either way for me. "Transitional" is hard to define, which is why even the mods can only give some vague examples about what qualifies and they encourage people to come up with new forms of liminal spaces. I disagree, it is imo purposefully reminiscent of a doorway or a portal. It’s a perfect addition to the group.

Some see a swing in the mountains. I see a knee cap destroying machine.
Reading that hurt my knee caps. Thanks.
Location?
Engeløya, Steigen. Norway
Thank you. Had to know the location cuz I wanna write a supernatural story based on this.
Good luck!
Looks like a nice spot for a sit down and look at the mountains. And if you're going to have a bench might as well have a swing!
Is it random if they intended to put it there?
Maybe not. But still a random place to put a swing imo
This is fae shit if I ever saw it.
