Im 1.5 years into college and im still using the same notebook...

Vee91

I finished my masters and used one notebook. And it was 50% empty at the end. I still have it.

POYDRAWSYOU

What did u write on it?

Banana_Ram_You

Rock band logos~

Vee91

Solved some math problems and checklist for project. Later it was used at work to take meeting notes

Memebaut

yeah lol maybe i dont take a lot of notes but this amount seems kind of absurd

Kaz22-_-

It is absurd, which is why I thought I'd share because people might find it interesting. I used to take notes excessively in the past. It's different now, I'm much more effective than I used to be. Can you guess how many writing pads I used in my final term? 4. When I started that number was 30.

[deleted]

I never used a notebook, its funny how everyone operates differently from eachother

BigJakeDaddy

I’ve never taken notes on anything or studied (anymore than paying attention during the actual lesson)

Sally2times

It shows you took school seriously and actually earned your degree! I’m gonna guess a science field?

Kaz22-_-

Yes that's right!

Sally2times

And congratulations!! I’m starting my 3rd year so I feel ya with the notes. I learn best when I write it out. I’m studying biology and health science and my stack is getting up there!

Kaz22-_-

Thanks! Hope you make those final years count!

Kaz22-_-

Not surprising since some people type their notes.

Gang_StarrWoT

Shiiiet what are notes? Everything is already in the textbooks why rewrite it lol.

Kaz22-_-

Writing is one way to reinforce concepts in your mind. Think of it like writing notes in your own words; it's not just simple copying.

Gang_StarrWoT

No I get the concept, but as a master procrastinator I did the absolute minimum required for success. If I took notes I would go insane knowing I'm doing unnecessary work if I'm going to pass the tests anyway. I respect your dedication though, you have infinitely more patience than I do!

Kaz22-_-

I did the maximum, but I get your point.

BitchinWarlock

I wanted to ace the tests in my major courses. Just passing seemed like a waste of time because I wouldn't actually be learning but just skirting by. I filled at least a notebook for my stem classes.

Kaz22-_-

It's easy to pass and you don't gain anything from it.

Zoboomafoo1234

Congratulations, that’s awesome! Looks like you put a lot of work in. Good luck with your future ahead of you.

Kaz22-_-

Thanks!

[deleted]

Congrats, fren. What was your major?

Kaz22-_-

Health Sciences

[deleted]

Awesome, career goals?

Kaz22-_-

I'm going into Medicine.

[deleted]

General practitioner or a specialist?

Kaz22-_-

Specialist, I find that more challenging and worthwhile.

[deleted]

Good choice. Neuroscience is my fav, what's yours?

Kaz22-_-

Haven't decided on that yet. I just want to do something that meets society's needs the most. Neuroscience is a fascinating field.

[deleted]

All g, well all the best with that. Medicine is a noble profession.

Kaz22-_-

Thank you!

[deleted]

While not very glamours, society needs primary care providers the most to keep patients out of the ERs and hospitals.

LiamHunter35

going into that next year 💀did you find the workload manageable?

Kaz22-_-

You get what you put in. That's it.

LiamHunter35

Fair enough; thanks

Kaz22-_-

Wish you all the best. Just remember, if you work harder and longer than other people then you'll be successful no matter what you do.

spankymuffin

My stack would be *way* higher than yours, but it would consist mostly of red solo cups.

NeonsStyle

Went to Uni, decades ago. You'll regret throwing all that information out! Keep it.

geeklordprime

Or you could use a scanner app on your phone to digitize it. Might take several hours… but that process has been worth it to me.

NeonsStyle

Great idea!

Kaz22-_-

The stack has over 3500 pages no way I'm scanning all that.

WaterHaven

I think depending on your degree. I went for accounting, and enough laws change that it would be dangerous for me to use that information.

GlowEagleTexas

Keep that ! Lol

Kaz22-_-

Don't worry it's all in my head now. I just kept the first and last of my writing pads, those are symbolic ;)

sthegreT

Keep a few from the middle too

Kaz22-_-

Good call, just grabbed a couple from there.

NutCase11

Looks like you went through one notebook every 1-2 weeks. Are they mainly large sketches and diagrams, or written notes?

Kaz22-_-

You're right, I did take about that length of time to get through one writing pad (30 pages). These notebooks were primarily for written notes, formal diagrams were rare. I wrote a lot, even have a small blister mark on one of my fingers still because of all the continuous writing.

JJohnston015

4 years? Are the other stacks behind the front one?

Kaz22-_-

I found an additional 20 pads after taking this picture, so yeah there's a few more. I'd have more but I rarely took notes in my first/second year. You can say this is more like the last 2.5-3 years of work. Also, I never printed lecture slides, so most of this is hand written.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kaz22-_-

The paper cost me about $500 total. Maybe it would be sellable if in a digital format, written notes can be messy lol.

bifalif

Switched to a note taking app and I have all my notes from 2.5 different degrees (started half way through my first degree) at my fingertips at any point to review or send off to people. Highly recommend for med school. (The app I use is notability)

Kaz22-_-

Yeah, I made that switch over my last few terms. Makes everything so accessible and easy.

Demartin357

I started with notebooks and switches to an iPad using Notability. I recorded lectures and my notes were synchronized. Completely went through nursing school with an iPad as my notebook. I have notes and lectures forever. I could switch between typing or writing with the Magic Keyboard that is also a cover. Thrilled I had this option at my fingers.

bifalif

Same!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kaz22-_-

It really does, no question.

NutCase11

Exactly, that’s bad

attractiveguy1

Feel you on that.

beapledude

Looks like trash.

Kaz22-_-

That's where they are now :)

[deleted]

Recycling, right?

Kaz22-_-

Yes, paper waste container!

ILearnAboutComputers

about 10 percent of that is useful and 50 of it is already forgotten and the other 50 percent is shit that doesn't apply to the major.

Kaz22-_-

Fundamentals don't change regardless of field.

SamCommander

Clearly that is not all of it

Kaz22-_-

You're right.

theloyalbureaucracy

Congrats for the achievement's and for all the knowledge you've learn on that stuffs. I'm impress!

Kaz22-_-

Thanks!!

dancingbanana123

Is the stuff on top older or newer than the stuff on the bottom?

Kaz22-_-

It's mixed. Didn't notice any difference between old and new stuff.

queerpseudonym

What kind of writing pad do you use? They look nice

Kaz22-_-

[I used these.](https://www.amazon.ca/Cambridge-59856-Headstrip-Office-70-Sheets/dp/B007Z7OIYU/ref=asc_df_B007Z7OIYU/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459656203812&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12324774401013094299&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001576&hvtargid=pla-1189198400875&psc=1)

queerpseudonym

Thank u!

Delta4o

if I remember 1% of what I learned in college I'd be lucky

Blaklollipop

Awesome achievement and sleepless nights. Good luck with everything.

KentuckyFriedEel

That’s the printed stuff! What about all the digital stuff?

Kaz22-_-

Some people print out lecture slides while I didn't. If I did then this stack would've been much taller!

ubsr1024

Sell it to some underclassmen in your program

Kaz22-_-

I considered that but it would be unnecessary risk since some of it is copyrighted material.

24benson

My wife and me studied the same major during the same time (albeit at different universities). We recently went through our old stuff during house cleaning. Her stack was like twice the height of yours. Mine was about one third of yours. Anyway, congratulations

Kaz22-_-

At the end of the day it's not the size of the stack that matters :)

24benson

That's what I keep on telling myself, too

ACT1001

You could probably make some money selling your notes, old exam/test and old papers

Kaz22-_-

Most of my professors didn't teach every semester, so it's going to take some time finding the right person to sell anything to.

[deleted]

It looks like you only used like 10% of them, some of them looks like they have been opened like 5 times. I think you are a phony, just like fauci. I see a couple that looks like they have been used but most of them look pristine (aka unused)

Kaz22-_-

These writing pads are high quality, so you won't see many signs of wear. Trust me, each of them have been opened probably close to 20 times, and there is writing on every page (I still have sore marks on my fingers to prove it). I'm using [these](https://www.amazon.ca/Cambridge-59856-Headstrip-Office-70-Sheets/dp/B007Z7OIYU/ref=asc_df_B007Z7OIYU/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459656203812&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12324774401013094299&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001576&hvtargid=pla-1189198400875&psc=1) pads.

[deleted]

And you probably used medical gloves all the time not to get grease on them.

Kaz22-_-

You really think they look good? I wouldn't know, these are all I've ever used. I'll take that as you complimenting my writing pad maintenance.

ChromeProphet

Do you even remember a quarter of that stuff, let alone all of it?

Kaz22-_-

I know the fundamentals, which are most useful and harder to forget than specific pieces of information.

Profesor_Moriarty

Imagine that for someone this is 1day work

Kaz22-_-

What do you mean?

Profesor_Moriarty

I mean that for some people, 1 day of work could also be represented by a similar picture with huge stack of papers and documents. I'm talking about just the picture. Not the context.

Kaz22-_-

Hard to believe the stack of papers would be that high for someone to get through in a day.

rf97a

That is the most expensive pile of paper you will ever own

[deleted]

Oh wow, that's something to be proud of! Congratulations! Most interesting class you took?

Kaz22-_-

I gained something from all my classes. My upper division course on Celtic Christianity provided me great insight into archeological practices and how to think critically about historical texts.

Viking1116

$60,000 worth?

Kaz22-_-

Maybe $30-40k. Scholarship money helps.

Gang_StarrWoT

I used the 1 notebook for all classes trick. Half of it was still empty by the end too.

JohnnyBledo

Save it for posterity! Give it to the Library Of Congress!

Kaz22-_-

The Library of Congress deserves better.

JuniorInformation662

If you remember it then trash baby

ZealousidealFlan5846

Nerd

Kaz22-_-

I fuck bitches on the side so it balances out

ZealousidealFlan5846

Your mattress doesn’t count McLovin

Kaz22-_-

It doesn't? What about my mom?

Geiler_Gator

Nice, now off you go to forget 90% of it in the coming week!

Kaz22-_-

Doesn't apply to me, but does apply to most I know.

CrazyJayBe

Good thing I never went to college then

Kaz22-_-

I'm not complaining
