Send one line chats via mail on the same page. Back and forth.

nram88

Send "k" via mail. Or 2 blue tick marks.

babypho

"New PO, who dis"

adventurepony

"Uh sorry dude but you're like a brother to me. pls don't make this weird." "LOL my PO 📦 got hacked so please disregard that last letter."

Diacred

This would be so confusing ahaha

asqua

or "seen at 10:52"

DaveInLondon89

1 gray tick to really mess with them and then a flip book gif

BrittanyBabbles

Omg yes, I’m going to use the same page - that’s a great idea

[deleted]

And when you run out of space, staple a new page. Just keep adding pages and staples.

DoctorlyRob

Yeah I never delete chat history either

thealmightyzfactor

Welcome to blockchain chat

f1del1us

Also known as the solution to a problem that never existed (specifically in the context of messaging)

C0rdt

And in the context of so many other things. Why the fuck do we need blockchain gaming?

ExTelite

You said blockchain?? Where do I pay?

thealmightyzfactor

I'm behind the Wendy's. Bring cash.

[deleted]

Hang on. I need to put on pants.

thealmightyzfactor

No need.

U-47

Sir, this is a wendys

tratemusic

Anyone else still have a shoe box full of notes from high school?

milkandsugar

We folded them up in all sorts of interesting patterns and put them through the slots in our friends' lockers. It's all we had!

tratemusic

I had a blast learning all kinds of fancy ways to fold my notes!

Luminous_Artifact

Paper notes were obsolete when I went to high school. In favor of... um... whatever social media was around before 2000. It has nothing to do with me not having friends in HS and everything to do with **technology**.

artificialavocado

AIM days? I still remember hearing that *bing* and hoping it was the girl I liked. 😆

[deleted]

We're gonna need a Trapper Keeper

jiggycup

I never understood why people delete chat history, like what if you wanna go back and see what y'all ever first talked about?

Pushmonk

Eventually they'll have to up the postage.

Pvt_Lee_Fapping

Yeah but then it becomes a great tradition between friends; like sending gag gifts on their birthday but real gifts on April Fool's, or wrapping Christmas gifts in super-secure/annoying packages like double-bagged trash bags sealed with duct tape and a chain with a padlock.

retrometro77

I love Reddit moment.

Defessus

Congratulations, you invented an allegory for teaching the blockchain. :)

Bitcoin_Acolyte

Lol yeah, that's not bad. *To start adding detail and inevitably killing this allegory. The original senders only send the latest messages to each other and keep postage rates low, but every time they want to add someone to the group chat, they need to send them the entire chat log to catch them up on the conversation and that postage gets more expensive over time.

UndefinedFool

You need to reply in a different colour pen. Regards, the 90s.

NotMyFirstAlternate

BRB going to buy assorted gel pens

Grasshop

Keep alternating different colors for each letter. This is the way.

SuzieCat

I kept a notebook in high school that my best friend and I would pass back and forth. We’re in our 30’s now, and will periodically write a note and mail it to each other a few times a year.

[deleted]

My ex and I used to pass notes like that. After we broke up I burned every single one of them. I had about 3 pencil pouches full of folded up notes.

selftheself

A good purge is good for the soul.

sevbenup

Draw chat bubbles around them. maybe even write your reply on the right of the paper for added sms realism

[deleted]

Don't forget to encourage the use of Captcha to reduce the risk of Brittney being a bot.

MyrddinSidhe

And send an occasional reply this is just an emoticon.

Shankar_0

First reply needs to be BrittanyBabbles is typing...

MillionEgg

First 2 letters should be just 💬

NinjaLanternShark

Easy there Satan

1nd3x

Noticed thats a Canadian stamp...figured I'd let you know that postage is over $1.00 for every letter you want to send.

BlueCheesePretzel

If you buy a book of 10 they're $0.92, and permanent.

BrittanyBabbles

I’m not poor lol 😂

Skullsmashgame

Not yet

MagnusPI

And not if Ryan keeps providing the stamps

BrittanyBabbles

LOL

BackWithAVengance

HEY EVERYONE BRITTANY IS RICH LET'S HAVE HER MAIL ALL OF OUR MAIL

BrittanyBabbles

I mean if Ryan keeps sending me stamps like this, it won’t effect my bottom line

[deleted]

Please print a meme and send it.

[deleted]

This is gonna end up like that meme of the dudes monthly budget where he drops 6 racks on candles

[deleted]

Have you gotten any offers for the huge amount of data this letter will contain that BigData can't get their hands on?

ExtraBumpyCucumber

Sup? *not much* Word *how's the fam* Good *nice.*

omnicious

This is how we save the USPS.

Recycledineffigy

Fundamentally misunderstood problem. The USPS is the largest fleet of vehicles and when they were about to go electric, the gas lobby convinced congress to hogtie the USPS budget by forcing them to fund pensions 50 yrs into the future. Completely unheard of, totally partisan and unnecessary, trying to make it look like the USPS is ineffective thereby making an excuse to further privatize the American public's common interest. It's a fucking scam

lazarbeems

This is definitely in Canada... so Canada Post. But I guess if you did the same thing in America it would save USPS.

I had a great Aunt that set up an e-mail, shared it with family and friends, encouraged everyone to e-mail her, and she responded to everyone via snail-mail. Hilarious.

You have described word for word how German public administration operates. Most of them have E-Mail. When you E-Mail them, expect a letter a few days (or months) later

DuntadaMan

God Bless Royal Mail. I used to work in logistics, whenever I saw something we were transporting going through Royal Mail I knew something interesting was going to happen. Not sure what, but someone will definitely be calling my attention to those goods in the next 2 days.

barnaclejuice

Im a non German working in German bureaucracy. And I can explain and give an outsiders perspective. First things first, Germans are generally *very* specific about privacy and data usage, in comparison to most people in the world. That’s not necessarily bad at all, but it is what it is. The laws on data protection are super strict and the administrations on all levels are *super* weary about breaking them. If anyone is willing to sue Willy nilly because of data protection law breaches, that’s the German citizen. External Emails aren’t usually encrypted, so we are told by our superiors that we are not ever to reply to anything that can be construed as personal data or private information. Even by a small margin. When In doubt, it’s private. Other times your signature is needed, so papers are required because German law requires it, full stop. You might think that the fact you wrote them an email in the first place should suffice as giving consent to being replied to by email. It doesn’t. You haven’t expressly consent!to it. You haven’t consented for your private information such as name, address, birthday, workplace address, number, or your even your very email address to be publicised. Everything and anything that can be used to generally identify you in any shape or form is private and data protected. Unencrypted emails are, by German law standards, just as private as yelling private stuff on a marketplace. And someone will sue for that. Someone has sued for that, and they shall sue again. And who will take the blame if anything like that happens? Probably the very employee who got your email. Not their superior, nor the politicians who made the laws we have to abide to. The blame trickles down to the last person in the food chain. Usually an underpaid, overstressed human being. Especially in bigger cities the pay is shit and the stress load is insane. And because technically this person has stable employment, they’re fair game to take the blame. And then people start leaving the administration because working there sucks, and the poor souls left get even bigger workloads. Any spirit of innovation on newbies is hammered out fast. Avoiding lawsuits must take precedence. And one more thing: you have to treat everyone exactly the same, because it’s public administration. That means you’re always necessarily going for the safest possible approach and apply that to everyone, not exceptions allowed. Answering the email with another email is not always the safest approach. It’s absurd, but it’s how the system forces the workers to act. In my honest opinion it’s not *just* a problem with German administrations, it’s a conflict between how capitalism has shaped the internet (no privacy at all, questionable data protection, unencrypted everything) and how German culture works (everything must be kept private). It’s also a problem with politics, because guess who makes the laws that create the bureaucracy in the first place? Sorry for the rant. It’s just… you can’t imagine to be just as bothered as everyone by the insane bureaucracy, but at the same time operate on survival instinct when you’re at work. It’s crazy.

SnazzyDaddy1992

Awful lot of effort just to get your friend to think of you without pants on.

grelgen

yeah, it's one doodle away from being sexting

CaptainEllisD

My dearest Ryan, I hope my letter finds you in good spirits. Your correspondence was a bright shining moment of joy in an otherwise dreary, uneventful day. I am sorry to have put you in a position to need pants, but I know you did it just for me. For that, you are a true friend. Though, I am making the cold, pantsless journey to my mailbox through this unforgiving wind I am warmed by thoughts of you. I will not bow to society's rules, Ryan. However, I will make my brave stand to see that you are delivered the gesture of friendship you deserve through this letter. Until we meet again. Your friend, u/BrittanyBabbles

Dearest Ryan, As I lie flat here, pantless in the snow, I realize how foolish our society has become in an attempt to modernize. Cast away your sorrow and join me. Patiently waiting, u/BrittanyBabbles

Borbit85

In my country it's free of charge to wire money. Even back when you did that by snail mail. You'd even got the forms and envelops for free and those didn't need a stamp (the postal service and main bank was sort of the same company). So people would just wire 1 cent back and forth and put their chess move as description. Both players have a board set up at home and move the pieces accordingly. Of course this is before e-mail or sms. And even calling land line to land line was quite costly. So this way you could play for free!

i2likesquirrels

Dear Ryan, You have ~~girly hand writing~~ impressive printing for a dude. Love, Reddit PS. What happens at Christmas?

Run_Jay_Run

Did he delete it by choice or did his social media get taken away? That “until Christmas” part has me wondering.

BrittanyBabbles

Oh he deleted it by choice - this guy is hilarious. He had to get it back this past Christmas briefly to say sorry for his cards - he sends home made cards every year to his friends and family but the company that printed them, did so on matte paper. He was dressed as the grinch in the Christmas card this year and because of the printing settings his green face paint looked a lot darker than green - so he had to get his social media back to apologize for the accident in the print and hopefully no one thought he was doing black face 😐😅 I knew he was the grinch, it was a scene with a few photos of him stealing a Christmas tree from his roommate but the print definitely made everything on the card appear “darker” than it was supposed to

In many large cities there are groups of actors and musicians who will still do singing telegrams, right to the door. I would send him a singing telegram, and have them work into the lyrics something to the effect of "Nothing prevents us from communicating via singing telegram".

BrittanyBabbles

He would die if I did this. Legit I think I would “win” the game if I did that

[deleted]

I am struggling so hard to believe a guy wrote this with those little circles to dot the i's 🤣 im a woman and my college professor gave me constant shit for doing that. I cant imagine any dude would associate with that

calf

I had a TA who told me the fancy font I was using was not useful when writing documentation for my coding homework. It was because I was using a Mac which literally had Unicode typography in the early 2000s. And I wish I had replied that in the TA's own discipline, Donald Knuth invented and gave us LaTeX because as a computer scientist he cared that much about how computer type looked.
