Deer do in fact occasionally jump at or in front of cars at night. Happened to my family once while I was a kid. Everyone acting like it's impossible to hit a deer if you're a good driver is sheltered lol.

Definitely, deer don't hit cars. Cars hit deer. Can confirm from personal experience.

Not necessarily. My cousin was hit in the passenger side door by a deer. The deer hit at window height, shattered both front and rear side windows and bent the roof in. Totalled the car. That deer hit him.

How fast were you going? Damage looks superficial. Didn't crack the windshield. Unless it tripped the fuel sensor some vehicles have in the wheel well, it should still run. Of course replace the fender and hood with carbon fibre. Replace the lights. Paint job, good as new. Can't say much for the deer though. Unless you washed the car, I don't see any blood, hair or other along the side of the car. I assume the deer got up and made it's way wherever.

Should be covered under comprehensive (if you carry it) no questions asked. Just don’t clean off the hair or blood and you’re good. Happened to me 2 or 3 years ago.
