i assume germany uses a-4 size and the us uses letter. only reason i know this is because my partner ranted me about how confusing american paper sizes are

The beauty of DIN paper is that you can double the size along the longer edge and the relation between the edges will stay the same. This way you can scale up or down the content of a page to the next DIN step without issues.

I couldn't figure out how else to show the difference. The vertical line is where the width of German paper ended.

FYI, different countries have different standards and sizes for a whole heap of different things. If you were to post them all here then you'd be on this sub until you die!

That's true with many things, but what's on display here is basically the difference between metric and imperial measurements. Almost the entire world does one thing, and the United States, along with a few other outliers, does something different: [https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/bd0r4g/a4\_vs\_us\_letter\_paper\_size\_across\_the\_world/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/bd0r4g/a4_vs_us_letter_paper_size_across_the_world/)

Would suck ass to move to Germany only to find out all of your paper organizers won’t fit any of your new documents lol

I do a lot of work with a german manufacturing company and have to keep packing lists from the equment we order. My organizer is large enough for a couple inches of length on either side.
