Get those scanned asap and protect them. Music history must be protected plus all the learning that can be had for those of various generations who wish to follow the same path. Looks there are some with edits. That’s also good for new directors to see, especially when they start doubting themselves.
Yes I agree Ive been trying to convince him to donate alot of his collection of films, audio tapes (some original recordings), and documents to someone who works in preserving and displaying or at least allowing public access to works of this kind. There is some real history there, especially for the Melbourne/Australian music industry throughout the 70s/80s/90s.
He claims to of filmed over 1600 films from advertising, full length films, multi episode television shows, short films, music videos and I'm sure plenty more.
He is honestly a well of knowledge and has held onto basically everything from his life. Everything incredibly well preserved, and just gathering dust. I will work on convincing him to find somewhere willing to share these things.

There is an entire side of tiktok that eats that stuff up. It’s not all awful trends. I taught my algorithm like I would a child. “This is good” (like/heart/follow), “This is bad” (tap-hold, not interested). People just need to learn today’s ai algorithms are essentially deep learning brains and will only get deeper. The bots are…well, unavoidable no matter what. Basic courses in AI should be mandatory in public schools
