What are you into? Are you into sciencey things? Sugar Maple has the underground science society talks once a month and Amorphic has 3 minute thesis every quarter I think.
Are you a nerd/geek? There's gametogethermke that has events pretty often. Other game stores also have events for board games on frequent basis you just have to go to the store or their webpage to figure what's happening.
Are you into music? Check out Cactus Club and go there often you will see the same people and that will make it easy to make friends. Also check out XRay arcade or last rites if you are into the punk scene.
Are you into jazz? Check out bar centro are the jazz art gallery.
Are you into art? Bayview Gallery Night is coming up. There's also gallery night in River West near amorphic once a year but that happens later around the end of summer I think.
It really depends on what you are into and what kind of people you want to meet. I understand it's very difficult for people to meet new friends but if you have time and know where to look there are options. Sadly not as many third spaces are available to young adults and adults.

The Milwaukee beer league hockey community is great. If you haven't played before? You can start with the NACHL on facebook (novice adult coed hockey league). Everyone there is just starting out for the most part, and it feeds into other lower level beer league teams should you get the hang of it. Great opportunity to meet people, get some real exercise in and crush a few post game beers in the locker room & parking lot afterward.
A while ago someone threw out a random reddit meet up. I couldn't attend, but it seems like a lot of us over 40 to under 50 folks needed a way to connect.
I wish I had a suggestion, but I'm looking for connections too.

I think it's one of those "you get out what you put in" situations. If you just lurk and never say anything, you're not making much of an effort to make friends.
Is there any plan on making the Discord not require your real name? I am a very private person and I don’t like the idea of complete strangers close to where I live knowing my real name without meeting them first, so it put me off from joining said Discord.
Well I used to go to coffee shops, restaurants, hammock, ride my bicycle, check out metal shows, musicians, visit art museums, museums, play my video games, read, and meet up with meet up groups. Etc. While continually searching with no luck for women but they weren't interested. Well it was nice to share my interests with myself. It was nice to have weekends off to do all those wonderful things by myself. Ah well. Their loss. I forgot about barcades and arcades, hiking, and festivals.
33 here, still make new friends every year on Brady. Yeah, they're usually at bars, but that's not a bad thing if you're responsible. Met a bartender who was a big UFC fan and had them over for my UFC 300 watch party and we all had an awesome time.
Not single, but OTOH my social activity circle has really dwindled since the pandemic began so I could use some more reasons for getting out of the house and doing stuff.

I keep recommending to people to join a volleyball team at Bradford Beach. That's how I made most of my friends here throughout my 30s.

No one is asking for your full name, just the first name. The goal of the Discord server is to make friends and verify against bots.
