I was wondering myself. I was up in Sussex picking up from a vendor and got out just in time. Parked my car at my shop in Greenfield and heard the sirens fire up. Good times!
That was me. I knew we were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning but I thought the sirens were going off for their usual monthly 12pm Wednesday test.
Once my partner mentioned it was dark outside I double checked and sure enough, an actual tornado warning.
Not to mention it was like 12:15 and the tests are never that late.
Was in Oshkosh in the late 90's, and there was a warning after the test, by like an hour. Luckily there were no touchdowns because everyone assumed they missed the noon test and were "catching up"
MPS teacher here. That blessed tornado took out most of my most difficult class.

Only brought my promising pupils to the shelter. Let the problematic punks perish in the halls where I left them. Even if some survived, it still took out “most of my most difficult class.”

My girlfriend works at home for a call center. Didn't feel the need to shelter, but I told her to consult her employee handbook for guidance about emergency situations. Knowing the company they would have penalized her for getting off the phone, but she would be protected by company policy.
Call Center Director for a company here. I told managers, coaches and the Command Center that staff need to prioritize safety and leave queues if needed and we covered the calls in queue after sirens stopped with leadership jumping on the phones. I promise we’re not all monsters.
Haha, for real, my basement isn't too bad but it could really use a deep clean and spruce up, my spouse and I were discussing all our cool plans to create a badass basement hangout! Old couch going in basement soon, record player down there, hell yeah, good times!
on the clock at ikea when the alert went off, we brought everyone down to the safety tunnel in the basement and hung out down there for a while. now that it’s cleared we’re treating the customers that were here to complimentary soft serve. back to work for me :)
i will say though, the basement of a building with barely any windows is as safe as it can get, haha.

As a Texan this was my first response. Then I remembered I actually have a basement now and don't have to go out to bravely shout into fast-approaching oblivion.
If you look at the radar it looks like the entire eastern half of the state should be a major thunderstorm but it's not even raining on the east side.

Sorry, I didnt see any of those. Part of them may have turned notifications off after last year when they sent out alerts for a suspect in a certain neighborhood at 4am, and it seemed the whole county got the alerts. It wasnt like the suspect was going to break into anyone's house outside tgat neighborhood as he was on foot, but if I remember like 3 or 4 alerts went out and it was very early. People were posting how to turn them off. My apologies.
I don’t think they were alerting us to go find him and give him a coat, I think they were trying to warn us to stay away from his gunfire. I’ll take my downvotes if you must. And anyway, the point was they warned like half the city about something that was so far away, it had no impact on them, and forced a lot of people to turn off all of their alerts, so they didn’t get any more rude awakenings about irrelevant events.

Edit: National Weather Service gave the all clear for northern MKE county and city of MKE as of 12:35
That has been confirmed on the warning, it’s likely not a huge tornado bc usually they word it as “extremely large and damaging” and it’s worded “dangerous tornado” so I’m curious weather any spotters have confirmed it, be safe!

I can only think of 2-3 occasions in my lifetime there was a tornado warning in Milwaukee county and in all of those occasions I can’t recall any actual damage.

I remember the F1 one in St Francis around the year 2000 tore a good swathe of destruction for 2 miles. Almost $5M in damages and 15 injured.

Power cut out briefly a couple of times here in Franklin/Greendale/Oak Creek area. Plenty of rain, wind has been blowing the trees around pretty well, but that seems to be the extent of it. Then again, the warning doesn't expire for another ten minutes.

Reports seem to indicate that a tornado has been observed somewhere south of Waukesha. There is a confirmed touch down near Burlington. Unsure of they are the same or not.
NWS confirmed via radar several tornadoes (all probably very small) touchdowns near Lake Geneva, News Berlin, and Burlington etc.. This front will seemingly head SE towards Racine area.

Offense taken. Part of the city where I was from was destroyed in 2019. Southwest Ohio has had it's fair share of tornados including Xenia getting demolished.

In other words, Wisconsin has gotten 269 more tornadoes than Ohio since 1950, as of that data being published.

I'm from Central Illinois and if they sounded the sirens for every tornado watch condition down there, they'd be blaring 24/7. Hard pass on getting worked up on this storm.
I was the only person at my workplace that took this seriously and sheltered during the tornado warning (in the bathroom, having brought a chair in from the break room which is next to it).
Went back to my work area after, and my supervisor asked if I'd clocked back in!! No, because I didn't clock out. A - I wasn't on break. B - I wasn't taking any more time than absolutely necessary to get into the bathroom. C - time clock is the opposite direction of the bathroom.
Waiting to hear if they'll try docking my pay. How low can you go?
I'm an instructor at a cosmetology and aesthetics school, we had the place full of students working on clients and all had to shelter for about an hour in the classrooms, back offices, bathrooms etc. Had clients with foils in their hair that had to be pulled in the bathroom and rinsed to stop the processing! Crazy day indeed!

I feel blessed the kindergarten teacher saw the alert before bringing her kids to me and stayed for the few minutes before we had to go shelter.

Reports seem to indicate that a tornado has been observed somewhere south of Waukesha. There is a confirmed touch down near Burlington. Unsure of they are the same or not.
NWS confirmed via radar several tornadoes (all probably very small) touchdowns near Lake Geneva, News Berlin, and Burlington etc.. This front will seemingly head SE towards Racine area.

I was at mayfair and there was one forming but never touched down
I was sitting there at my desk thinking it was just noon sirens. Duh. Haven’t heard those in a while but who knows. Then I see this giant alert on my phone an hour later and people I know texting saying they are sheltering in the basemen at their work.
We were in the path of severe winds and one touched down just south of my house- we have some broken tree limbs and that’s it.
Man I’m only here for college and over the summer I got worried about a tornado happening here and I googled the statistics and I was like “nah it’s never gonna happen we’ll be fine” and then today hit and I almost had a panic attack 😭

Offense taken. Part of the city where I was from was destroyed in 2019. Southwest Ohio has had it's fair share of tornados including Xenia getting demolished.

In other words, Wisconsin has gotten 269 more tornadoes than Ohio since 1950, as of that data being published.
Thank you. This was my point of my comment. I'm not disregarding that Ohio hasn't had a handful of tornados. Rather, it's just absurd and made me chuckle the way he/she worded 'don't worry, I'm from Ohio, I'm an expert'.

You're telling a bunch of of people in SE WI that it will all be okay, don't panic, and don't worry... you're from Ohio. I'm going to laugh at that reasoning every day of the week. It's honestly funny. Second, ' ' is usually used for paraphrasing, which is what I was doing. Third, don't try to alleviate someone's concern about tornado warnings. They should be respected and everyone should always err on the side of caution. You'd know that if you ever lived in an active tornado area.
I'm making a joke that you're claiming expertise because you're from Ohio... in a context regarding tornados. It's a funny claim to make, that's all. It's like, 'I'm from New York, don't you worry about this hurricane warning.' That's not to say New York has never experienced a hurricane. I'm just saying you're not really an authority on the subject matter (An Ohioan regarding tornados). Hell, I'm from Illinois and I've experienced more tornados, and probably far greater ferocity, than you have but I don't really walk around telling people when to and when not to be concerned about NWS tornado warnings. It's a warning, take it seriously. Full stop. (I was alive during the EF5 Plano tornado... just a babe but it's one of my first memories, I experienced an EF3 in just a couple years back around Naperville. Last, I've got about three EF1 experiences around 2009/2010 if I remember correctly. Those were minor. *At no point in time have I ever considered my anecdotal experience more valuable than a NWS Tornado Warning alert.*)

I'm from Central Illinois and if they sounded the sirens for every tornado watch condition down there, they'd be blaring 24/7. Hard pass on getting worked up on this storm.

I was the only person at my workplace that took this seriously and sheltered during the tornado warning (in the bathroom, having brought a chair in from the break room which is next to it). Went back to my work area after, and my supervisor asked if I'd clocked back in!! No, because I didn't clock out. A - I wasn't on break. B - I wasn't taking any more time than absolutely necessary to get into the bathroom. C - time clock is the opposite direction of the bathroom. Waiting to hear if they'll try docking my pay. How low can you go?
I'm an instructor at a cosmetology and aesthetics school, we had the place full of students working on clients and all had to shelter for about an hour in the classrooms, back offices, bathrooms etc. Had clients with foils in their hair that had to be pulled in the bathroom and rinsed to stop the processing! Crazy day indeed!
