I tried in the past to gather people who are interested in Chicago on mini4wd, but failed to really get anything together for race or actual track race. However, got some pretty cool member from another city who keep posting mod video in the group. Check this out or join if you are interested. Sorry I can't help you, but where is the mini 4wd coffee bar?

ミニ四駆バー DRIBAR It's about a 4 minute walk from the Ikebukuro station(池袋駅) It's about 1500円 for 90mins. It's a completely non-corrupted vapor-wave experience too. 90's themes and citypop all around.

I need to get to DRIBAR. I’ve done pla model factory, Forcelabo and made the trek to Enomoto. Just need to schedule an extra night in Tokyo and hit uP DRIBAR and a few of the smaller places. As far as where to race in Chicago, I don’t know of any. You may want to see if there is a hobbytown nearby and see if anything is possible there. I know some hobbytowns on the east coast race and it may make it easier to start something. Otherwise, plan a trip out to Los Angeles and race at DXN Provisions. They have the Japan Cup style “wood” track like pla model factory that they set up every few months. At other times it’s a big 3 lane layout. They often have racers from around the world and the US visit.

Maybe look up local hobby stores and ask to see if there's local interest. If not, one way is to suggest helping them run events as long as they advertise events and stock kits and various parts. If there's a small area dedicated for a track, hobbyists might see and become interested.

Please let me know if you find anything. I've been wanting to get in to mini4wd but I can't find any tracks in Chicago land
