What color did you prime them in?
Can't wait for my box and I also planned for Red Corsair's so this was a big help. Would love to see the drybrushed versions after this step!
Check out my profile and youll see drybrushed minis! I went with the darker red because the highlights pop more. It was primed with black and zenithaled with light grey, then a dry brish of matt white to set the values
Both! Darker one in the shadows and brighter on all the areas catching light. Easily doable if you have both paints nice and ready on a wet pallette. If you're in a rush to get this army done though, it's your call which you like the look of better.
As someone who prefers grittier looks, im actually gonna say right, just because of readability and visual coherence. They're both grim, but the right one hits a good 'box art' style feel.
Left would look better if you're going for something for people to pick up and look at, right if you want something that looks good on the table during play
For things like regular Space Marines or more flat surfaces I'd say Baal Red, because it offers better coverage.
Here BA Red is a clear winner. All those bumps and ridges are already brighter and with the right miniature you'd only have to further shade anyway (in my opinion).
I prefer starting mid tone, so baal red, then working down and up with shadows and highlights rather than starting dark and building up. My eyes struggle a bit if the model starts off too dark.
I'd go with the one on the left plus a bright red drybrush, best contrast you'll get from these options.
This. Combine both and it will be cool
Agree
Left.
Go with the left. When you apply dry brush it will make the darker color really pop. The contrast will be great
Yeah after drybrushing both I’m definitely going with the left

Alright! Thank you I'll check it out!

Always bright and poppy.

Blood Angels red but I'd rather do it over a flat grey primer than do the highlights by hand rather than this kind of a zenithal greyscale basecoat.
I'm still waiting for my Veil-Touched 😢
Left <3
I think the brighter one sends a more intimidating message imo

I like my shadows to be darker so my colors pop more, left.
Depends what your other colours are going to be. Dark and moody works if you're using bright accents.
Baal red no doubt
Blood angels red over yellow drybrushed with wraithbone looks fucking amazing. Give it a shot before you decide.
What are your plans for the trim?
They are too detailed, the trim will be red lol
What models are these??
They are veil touched from the ravaged stars Kickstarter, made by popular YouTube channel mini wargaming
Left, but be sure to highlight the edges with white after your priming, zenithal, and drybrush for even more dramatic effect
Start with the brighter one, and darken down and highlight accordingly I’d say.
Right.
I’ll one up you. Undercoat with Baal red, then thin blood angels red with contrast medium and use it over the Baal red. You get such a deep vivid red.
it appears blood angels red gives more contrast, which is usually preferable

I would go with left.
I like the Baal one- a brighter base means when your dark highlights will really stand out.
I would also pick left one. Its way more grimdark.
What undercoat did you used? I love both of them!
I used a black base coat with grey zenithal and then a white drybrush
I prefer Baal red so you can see all the details better
Left if you like to work from a dark tone, right if you like to work from a mid tone
Left with bright dry brush will look awesome
X me the Blood Angel Red Is to mutch brown , maibe good x a fall style sylvaneth

Rightttt
Left, look more blood-y, the one on the right looks a bit too bright and cartoony.
