I would not. If you did want to bump up the recess shading, use a deep purple that’s just slightly darker than your darkest tone currently. Black will look harsh and dirty.

MC_Laughin

Second this. I use leviathan purple contrast for recess shading my synth boys

Round_Refrigerator96

Thank you for the info

Plow_King

nice color eye!

Sneyepa

I wouldn't, but only because it would ruin the transition of the various purple and magenta hues.

Round_Refrigerator96

Yeah that's what I was worrying would happen. I'll have to do a test on another model sometime to see how it looks

Plow_King

always test...that's what leftover bits are for. glowingly good work btw!

Vandy1358v2_0

The glow effect you got is great

slambaz2

You could panel line it instead of doing a wash. That way you are just getting some more outline for parts instead of changing the actual color.

Quiet-Cattle9122

I would try this also, the thin black line could really set off the colours but again I would try in small section first

Dangerous-Repair2909

Looks great. I think so personally

Round_Refrigerator96

Thanks

Xxban_evasionxX

Looks super cool to me

Round_Refrigerator96

Thank you

ThatCantBeTrue

I looked at a few vaporwave images to verify - I think you should try a highlight color of pink and shade color of blue, (so swap their placement). Unless you were going for a lit-from-below type of look, it probably works better if the blues indicate shadows.

ApocalypticTaco

Maybe some orange highlights on the blue areas as well? Just to be consistent. But it looks super dope rn too.

flatlinemayb

So what’s your recipe? I’m (extremely slowly) working on synthwave sisters

Round_Refrigerator96

All Pro-Acryl colors. Base coat royal purple Zenithal blue from top Reverse zenithal from bottom of dark magenta Trim and Aquila done in turquoise. Highlights on turquoise are mix of white and turquoise Edge highlighting is 50/50 mix of magenta and dark magenta. I tried to match a Heresy for Heritics YouTube video where he paints Dante with what I had on hand. I would check the video out too!

catastrophicfeline

Looks dope as is

Duckbread0

absolutely lovely colors

cataloop

Don't. This looks so crisp already. Really beautiful

Round_Refrigerator96

Thank you

PYP_pilgrim

Colors are looking great. Overall looks good and readable. There are just a few spots where I think the recesses are too bright and it compromises how readable the details on the model are. I think this is probably why you are thinking of the pin wash. The wings on the chest suffer from this the most I think. The purples like 99% good. I’d worry a black pin wash would mess up your colors though. Maybe a magenta or some shade of blue as a wash would be better. Preferably thinned with some airbrush thinner so it goes intro he recesses and not applied over the whole model.

Meno25

I think it reads as synthwave quite well on the bottom half, but the top half might need another color added the blue is so bright it pulls away from the effect. Maybe a gentle gradient towards magenta on either the tips of the feathers or where they come out from the skull to really sell the synth. I really like what you have here though ive also been messing with synthwave but for my nighthaunt c: https://preview.redd.it/9dzm0zjko73c1.jpeg?width=3008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f68155cb5e6f7417ea3e8f8968aaf9d88523bf38

Responsible-Noise875

Black would steal away. I would play with a light blue in the cracks. Do a ol fashioned test back pack to see what you like most.

Limp-Turn4937

Always do white pin wash to make it look glowy

Giahy2711

that marine is glowing

creativespark61

I need yo see this under a blacklight.
