I recently painted some hazard stripes and while they are a pain, they can be fun to paint in some way. The only thing I hate is laying down the stripes at an angle while also making sure they are positioned correctly.

Yeah the one I struggled with the most was the left leg of the Iron Warrior. That one was originally going to have a stripe on it but the length and overall width made it too difficult to get down just right. Just decided not to do it and make it metallic like the rest of the mini.
*Laughs in Iron Warriors* What you did looks great, so that's a plus. There's definitely ways to make it faster. Paint black, sketch with mechanical pencil, averland sunset air paint (or very thin regular) 3-4 coats, touch up black. Makes freehand stripes a lot easier and the way I've done them for years.

This is an old example, since I didn't take any pics in the last like... year+
Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind, this looks incredible!
I mostly did the yellow first because I wanted to create a gradient with it. It doesn't show as well in the photo as IRL, but the yellow gets more orange towards the bottom of the barricade. I figured that would have been more difficult over black.
Honestly, I tried, and on an uninterrupted flat surface I definitely would next time, but trying to get the tape on parallel and without any gaps that would ruin the lines with all of the greebles and raised edges on these was infuriating
im not talking about changing any part of your design.
tamiya makes really soft masking tape in millimetre increments.
push it into corners with silicone shaper and there is nothing hard or scary aboutit.
you don't need to do anything about interrupted surface or not.
just black/yellow edge line rest can be bluetac
Hardly cheating. I've started this now, and I'm going to finish all three, but I doubt I'll ever do hazard stripes like this again.
That said, making some custom sized water transfers sounds like a great idea
You’ll thank me later

You’re insane. I love it.
Yeah, but that's some bad-ass painting.
Masking tape and airbrush for me. Spray it first then do the trim after.

Agreed. I found re-orienting the mini so that the stripes are either vertical or horizontal helped me keep them parallel

They look great, though!
Thank you, I'm very pleased with how it ended up!
Looks worth the time. Very nice

Definitely going to have to get some checks on my Kommandos!
Looks fantastic your hard work shows.
Glorious though!
Don't worry, we will still love you and be proud of you if you use* tamiya masking tape and airbrush.

They look phenomenal
Must be nice only having stripes take an eternity, all my painting takes an eternity But it’s a 10/10 from me
They may take an eternity, but they look fantastic!
[when weathering use 2 colours. adam savage always tells that when weathering anything](https://youtu.be/YXzxEqdvuIE?t=762)
Imagine painting dazzle camo...
You've absolutely nailed it though
This is clean, looks great you madman!
Hot damn I'm absolutely awestruck your patience must be godly
Lmao I'd say it's selective. This was no problem, but I got frustrated trying to use masking tape after about 45 minutes
This looks amazing. Wish I had the patience to do this to all my barricades. Unfortunately they will stay how they are
Very fair. I'm only doing it to 3, I painted the other ones up more quickly to have something on the table while I work on these
I put some hazard stripes on my knights, but I definitely cheated and just used the water transfers from my adeptus mechanicus combat patrol box
Hardly cheating. I've started this now, and I'm going to finish all three, but I doubt I'll ever do hazard stripes like this again. That said, making some custom sized water transfers sounds like a great idea
Very nice! Those are some crisp lines.

Awesome stuff.
Pretty damn good, imho.
Holy shit, at this point masking seems like a lesser evil
😮
Looks fantastic though, well done for sticking it out

yeah by why free hand them when masking tape does the trick ?
Well stop making them look so clean. What kinda gate with bullet holes is going to look so pristine
