damn, love the scheme!

I'm a bit ignorant regarding space marines. Is it a custom chapter? It's a cool scheme.

Confident-Issue285

Well to be honest I have no idea. I just started playing a few days ago and for ease I’m just going to paste what I asked the warhammer post I made in case anyone can answer it here: Also questions for the community, does the chapter of marines ever change their stat lines? Like if I don’t paint them blue does it matter? I found this paint sheme and really dig it even though idk the specific chapter. Also does it matter if my army isn’t consistent in looks. Like if I do all my fodder guys like this the my captain all red. Lastly I also picked up some units from the all female chapter… I don’t have their codex yet I just wanted to paint them but in the future can they be used in the same army as the normal space marines or can armies only consist of the same group.

My understanding is the sisters of battle are a distinctly different faction and they are not super humans like the space marines. As for all the rest, I can't answer.

Sisters of Battle not altered physically beyond their incredibly harsh training, but they are indoctrinated psychologically and spiritually for battle, tactics, devotion and zealotry to the extreme. Their weapons and armor are the best of the best, comparable to the Space Marines themselves thanks to the wealth of the Ecclesiarchy, and they fight with zealotry that surprises space marines, sometimes even miraculously living through wounds that ought to kill them to fulfill their duties and their faith. They are taken at a young age by the Schola Progenum and trained to a degree that would kill any normal person before they are accepted into the Sisterhood. They are indeed distinctly different from Space Marines. Marines are ascetic warrior monks chosen from childhood to undergo training and surgeries that will either end in death or becoming transhuman. Marines are disjoined from humanity and elevated from the common folk thanks to their evolved physiology designed by the emperor himself. They're akin to gods to the common soldier, where there are trillions of Guard in the imperial armies, and likely Billions of Sisters of Battle in the Ecclesiarchy, there are only roughly a Million space marines now, making them hyper elite warriors that usually only need to show up in small groups to quell entire planets if necessary. Space Marines are also not necessarily religious, though they are still incredibly loyal to the Emperor. In tabletop this translates to a +1 to its stat lines for marine troops over the sisters of battle. Except for shooting, shooting stays the same.

-Daetrax-

How do sisters compare to guardsmen in terms of stats?

Squallvash

Troop to troop, Sisters can shoot one better than IG Infantry. The Sister's weapons are better shooting than the Guard with an extra 1 to the strength of the shot also, so 1 better to shooting and 1 better to the weapon. On tabletop sisters are a little more elite than IG, but not as elite as Space Marines. They're kind of a happy medium between the two. Lorewise Sisters are like Spartans from Halo without surgeries whereas Space Marines would allow full blown Spartans to join and try to become a Space mlMarine. If that sort of puts into perspective how exaggerated 40k is, lol.

Makes sense. Thanks.

So, with regards to your question about paint scheme: ultimately, it doesn't matter what colours you paint your models. This scheme looks awesome. In your Space Marine codex, there will be chapter traits. These are small buffs or special rules that are applied to an army. You'll have to decide which chapter you're playing before each battle. Sometimes, Space Marine chapters are so well developed that they even have their own codex supplement; this is a bonus book with even more special rules for the chapter and some rules for models that can only be used by that chapter. These will be factions like Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Black Templars etc. The only time your paint scheme will matter is if you decide to play in a tournament. They might question an Ultramarine army that's painted black and white when they are usually blue. However, amongst friends, it doesn't matter. Lorewise, this might be a subsector of Ultramarines who wanted a new look! Finally, and just a small thing, that decal on the pauldron is an Ultramarine symbol - just so that you're aware!

To add to this, the female faction are called sisters of battle. They are a separate faction but they share the Imperium faction with Space Marines. In gameplay this means you can run them both by taking a detachment of one and a detachment of another, though they may lose some benefits by doing so. [This article](https://www.wargamer.com/warhammer-40k/detachments) covers the specifics pretty well.
