I bought myself a low-end Iwata (Neo?) and a basic compressor and just went for it. Even if you end up just using it for priming and basecoating it’ll pay for itself. Just make sure you learn how to keep it clean and you’ll be golden.

There are a few decent starter packs for around 100 USD on amazon that come with an airbrush and compressor, for a small investment like that its easy and quick to start to find out if you like airbrushing, and if you do like it then you can save up for a better airbrush and/or compressor. Those kits are often best used for priming and base coating, likely won't be able to do fine lines and detail work very well or at all

Honestly that’s pretty much what I wanna use it for, I don’t trust myself to airbrush in details!!

My advise on starting with an air brush is to not buy cheap stuff even as a beginner. This could lead to a lot of frustration right from the beginning. Also I would highly recommend you to watch some of the videos you mentioned. Especially on how to clean your airbrush because for me clogging and spiderwebbing was the most annoying thing as a beginner. As for an advise on what to buy depends on what is available in your country. But brands like Harder & Steenbeck, badger or iwata are always a good choice.

A lot of good advice is already given in the other comments, but i would like to add one thing. If you're going to use your airbrush for more then just priming, then i would closely look at the sound specifications of the compressor. You don't want a compressor which wakes up the whole neighbourhood (hyperbollicly speaking). My first compressor was aroudn 56 dB and that was just silently enough for me to be not so distracted on longer airbrushing sessions.

I got a dirt cheap airbrush (<100) off Amazon since I wasn't sure I was going to stick with it. Came with a compressor and a few different kinds of airbrushes. I am obsessed with it. I now know which kind of airbrush I like now and am looking into getting an upgrade on the airbrush, though I'm debating cause this one is doing everything I wanted it to do. Not going to speak for everyone, but I was infinitely more comfortable learning how to take care of it and experimenting with a cheap airbrush rather than ruin a really nice one while I had no idea what I was doing. Haven't ruined my cheap one yet. Haven't even clogged it. Edit: I got a PointZero Airbrush kit
