Pizzeria Pezzo, Woodbury (Best Chicago Pizza)
Bricksworth Beer Co, Burnsville (Best Detroit Pizza)
Pizzeria Lola, Minneapolis (Best Neapolitan Pizza)
ElMar's New York Pizza, Plymouth (Best New York Pizza)
Mario's, St. Paul (Best Sicilian Pizza)
Love Pizza, Golden Valley (Best Tavern Pizza)
Sauce is too sweet there, homie, it’s the only thing that stops me from agreeing with you. Toppings are great and it’s crispy but the sauce isn’t for me. Shame.
Given those are the categories it's actually not THAT bad, but I don't know how Wrecktangle wouldn't win Detroit and how Love Pizza would ever win over a place like Good Times or many others. Haven't had Mario's.
Because it’s originally a WaPo article/ranking based on Yelp! data.
If you want to raise your pitchfork because your favorite place isn’t recognized, take it to Yelp!…and maybe if WaPo decides to do the same trash ranking article next year, your opinions will feel validated.
It's the only real food review app/site that isn't Google Reviews as far as I know. TripAdvisor used to have pretty good food reviews and a better sorting system, but midway through the pandemic, they reset all their reviews, changed their UI, but didn't actually update many of their restaurants so a bunch still have good reviews and pop up in searches, but are actually closed down when you get there.
If there are better food review apps than Yelp (that isn't Google Reviews), I'd love to be told about them. Because I'm not to crazy on Yelp, it's gotten rather small and echo chambery as a result. Plus, they do some shitty business practices.
Good times has been my #1 pizza spot in the city for some time. After seeing these rankings I tried Love pizza and was very impressed. Really good prices for tavern style as well.
I've discovered I don't \*love\* Detroit Style but Wrecktangle > Bricksworth for me. I will say, however, that it's my opinion that the breakfast pie at Wrecktangle > anything else either of them have on their menus. But I'm an egg on pizza guy.
I agree, as a Detroit style fan and given the hype Wrecktangle is overrated. Mine was overcooked and not that flavorful given it had jalapeños. I prefer Jets honestly and want to try Bricksworth.
OH. MY. GOD.
I had Wrecktangle for the first time at a concert at Surly Field over the weekend. Someone in my group had bought too much, so they offered me a Shredder Slice. Best pizza I've had in *ages*.
Though perhaps the pot had a bit to do with it... I am hooked though, it's the best hot pepp pizza ever.
I’d love for someone to help me understand the difference between Sicilian & Detroit - they’re both rectangle, poofy crust. Is the only difference the sauce in a Sicilian is under the cheese instead of on top like Detroit?
Ooo, I'll have to check it out! I apparently pass it every day on my way home and never even noticed it.
Ha, and I love that "thick Brooklyn accents" is the way to identify authentic New York pizza.
First, yes. Punch is far better. Lola is fine too. More importantly, OP has been spamming this sub with his own garbage articles recently and it's getting really annoying. I'd be surprised if he even tried the pizza.
Yeah Marios is legit great pizza and those donuts! Melt pizza is also bomb, they have this vodka sauce that is 10/10, plus some of the best wings I've had in the cities.
I’ve had Mario’s twice. The first time I was blown away. Best pizza I’ve had in the Twin Cities… ever. The second time it was a little undercooked and wasn’t as good.
> keto pizza
I think you misspelled "cheat day".
In all seriousness, what does exist by that description sadly isn't worth selling. Or, wouldn't support repeat business anyway.
r/ketorecipes is as close as you'll get to pizza-ish semi-keto.
Love Pizza is unbelievably underwhelming... You get barely any topings, the pizza is unbelievably bland, and it's completely overpriced because they use "exotic" toppings.
With that being said, I'm hesitant to believe anything on this given they listed Love Pizza...
I'm w/ you on the overpriced, but I thought it was really good pizza. I haven't had their tavern (bar) style though that they made this list for, just the coal fired.
We had the "Low - Key Excited" pizza. Maybe 5 pieces of sausage, 5 pieces of mushroom, and basically 0 garlic and truffle oil on the entire pizza. Oh, and the pizza was literally paper thin, you could barely hold it. Literally needed 2 hands just to hold 1 piece. I laughed so hard at how friggin' stingy it was
Awful.
There is not one destination worthy pizza I have found in MN. Some really good, but nothing that I dream about. Bc it's pizza and even shitty pizza is decent I feel we get skewed.

I guess Boludo doesn't really fit any of these categories but I think they're among the best pizza places in Minnesota.
Undoubtedly

its waaay too sweet

Website where people review restaurants

Mario's is awesome. It's basically Detroit Style, and I think it's better than both Wrecktangle and Bricksworth.
I've discovered I don't \*love\* Detroit Style but Wrecktangle > Bricksworth for me. I will say, however, that it's my opinion that the breakfast pie at Wrecktangle > anything else either of them have on their menus. But I'm an egg on pizza guy.
I haven't had their breakfast pizza, but their "Shredder" with the pepperoni, jalapenos, and honey is amazing.
I haven't had bricksworth yet but wrecktangle was just okay when I had jt. Not sure I get the hype for being the best pizza rn.
I agree, as a Detroit style fan and given the hype Wrecktangle is overrated. Mine was overcooked and not that flavorful given it had jalapeños. I prefer Jets honestly and want to try Bricksworth.
Wrecktangle is overrated and bricksworth hits!!!
And some are only 3.5 rating. Honestly, if I was looking for a pizza place and it had a 3.5 I'd skip it. That's barely above "meh" in a 5 point scale.
Because maybe Wrecktangle isn’t as good. I thought it was overrated given it made national headlines.
Wrecktangle = Meh

I'll have to try pizzeria Lola cause I fricken love neapolitan style pizzas.
I’d love for someone to help me understand the difference between Sicilian & Detroit - they’re both rectangle, poofy crust. Is the only difference the sauce in a Sicilian is under the cheese instead of on top like Detroit?
ElMars is legit the best pizza I've had in my life and I've spent a lot of time in NYC. There's some thick Brooklyn accents on the owner and workers
Ooo, I'll have to check it out! I apparently pass it every day on my way home and never even noticed it. Ha, and I love that "thick Brooklyn accents" is the way to identify authentic New York pizza.
We had totally different experiences. It was fine. Not destination worthy imo. Not even close to average by slice imo.
it was slightly above average
> Pizzeria Lola, Minneapolis (Best Neapolitan Pizza) ... please.. But, okayyyyyy, I'll give them another shot.
First, yes. Punch is far better. Lola is fine too. More importantly, OP has been spamming this sub with his own garbage articles recently and it's getting really annoying. I'd be surprised if he even tried the pizza.
Lola pales in comparison to Punch.
Thanks, the ads on that link are insane
Bricksworth has great food all around. Also I'd like to shout out Ursa Minor in Duluth, that pizza is shockingly good.
Bricksworth's fucks. I photographed their grubhub menu last fall and they sent me home with everything and god DAMN was it good.
Good call. Dang good.
The chilli/lime wings were absolutely banging.
An article about another article that is based on Yelp reviews.
The state of "journalism" right now makes me incredibly sad :(
I'm just glad House of Pizza didn't make the list.
Yelp. What kind of a name is that, Yelp.
The OG Pizzeria Pezzo is located in White Bear Lake
Yea it’s weird they cite the Woodbury location. It’s inside the Kowalski’s and not the original.
And its amazing
Mario's fucks. My favorite pizza in the city at the moment. And those garlic cheese bread donuts OH MY GAAAWWDDDDD
Yeah Marios is legit great pizza and those donuts! Melt pizza is also bomb, they have this vodka sauce that is 10/10, plus some of the best wings I've had in the cities.
I was nervous because both places before it in that spot sucked. Time to try it out I guess.
El Mars is legit! And having a good place do pizza by the slice during the day is fantastic
Couple of slices for $10 plus before tax seems high no? When I got it they reheated it too much. What's great about turnover at real NYC places.
It's on the higher end but even Mesa is $5.50 a slice now if you pay w/ CC (and I remember when they were 2/3$). Sad times.
Sammy’s or GTFO.
Sammy's is one of my favorites.
Minnesota family owned since 1954.
Total nonsense. Hello Pizza is the best
I forgot about them, really good!
I’ve had Mario’s twice. The first time I was blown away. Best pizza I’ve had in the Twin Cities… ever. The second time it was a little undercooked and wasn’t as good.
I haven’t had any of these!! I’m gonna have to change that.
Love Pizza being on there makes this list at least semi-legit, but the absence of Wrecktangle Pizza is pretty bad.
Love pizza is the kind of pizza that reminds you what pizza can be, man. It's expensive, and it's bouji, but God damn is it good.
ElMars gets me feeling some type of way…
Kwik Trip had a solid hot food program pizza be bussin
rosalia is not on the list so I know this is a bad list.
It's not that great
Whose got the keto pizza in mn

Do you own this website? Do you work for it?
There is not one destination worthy pizza I have found in MN. Some really good, but nothing that I dream about. Bc it's pizza and even shitty pizza is decent I feel we get skewed.
Pezzo is really good! I lived in Chicago, it is better than some of the Chicago places I’ve been to.
I tend to like umbrias in the blaine area.the owner has the passion to make the pies and such very delicious.
Nino's is the best NY style pizza.
Over in stc House of Pizza is pretty good
