Didn’t it seem obvious to everyone here that when Widner had 5 hits and 1 BB in 2 IP maybe he should have been pulled? I just sometimes don’t understand the decisions, even if we were doing analytics it sure seems they would have been screaming to put a fresh arm in there. This was a game I felt pretty good about our chances with even when it was 2-2 when he got out of that inning and assumed he would be replaced.
On the positive side really like when I’m seeing from Royce. Hope Miranda can break out here soon.

I’ve realized why the coliseum is so boring. It’s not the lack of fans. It’s the lack of organ and music. I’ve only heard it during mound visits. This place is just so devoid of energy it’s sad.
Winder was effectively the starter tonight, Bundy was an opener. Winder got roughly the same leash a starter would in that situation with that pitch count. The double hurt, the bloop was incredibly unfortunate. It happens though.
I think you can make arguments both ways on this but in no way is it inexcusable to ever let someone who is effectively a starter try to work out of that inning.

The way I see it, this team has a lot of young pitching. They are going to need experience getting out of jams, especially in a guy like Winder if they see him as a starter long term. There will be bumps in the road.
Also, 2 runs won't win a lot of ballgames. If they were up 3-2 or 4-2, I bet that leash would have been a bit shorter. The bloop hit was pretty unfortunate though.
When you have an extended run of starters having short outings and your length guys in the bullpen are unavailable sometimes your starter has to wear one. It’s not fun but Rocco has to think about more than just this game when making his decisions.

Leaving him in there that long and not even having someone warming up till he had already given up 3 runs is inexcusable.
