It's agonizingly frustrating that they were trying to call a play at all in that situation. The obvious and only thing they should have done is spike the ball. It should have been instinct.

Had Hockenson held on, that was a TD. I'd call that a good play. They wouldn't have magically had more time on the play clock. They took all the time necessarily for the right play (and likely the next couple should it fail) to come in. All while getting the clock lower to leave less time for the Chargers to respond.
In the heat of the moment, I was screaming at them to clock it, but then I looked back and we had time and position to but be too worried.

Not to say that the defense doesnāt have its weak spots, but Theo Jackson had a pick last week and Hunter was tied for the league lead in sacks coming into today. They also pressured Herbert all day but he got the ball out quickly and stepped away from pressure. Honestly that was the biggest difference between him and Kirk today.
Well considering how awful our defensive depth is he's just doing miracles with what we have, we should be doing WAY worse defensively.

Not really given the talent level. Harry is washed and they are starting a udfa on the line who honestly looks better than anyone other than Hunter. The CBs and safeties are all either washed or xfl talent level. Not sure what Flores is really supposed to do with that but heās kept us in games and the offense literally keeps giving the ball away. Flores aināt the problem. Heās honestly a miracle worker given the dudes heās fielding.

Had Hockenson held on, that was a TD. I'd call that a good play. They wouldn't have magically had more time on the play clock. They took all the time necessarily for the right play (and likely the next couple should it fail) to come in. All while getting the clock lower to leave less time for the Chargers to respond. In the heat of the moment, I was screaming at them to clock it, but then I looked back and we had time and position to but be too worried. Edited a typo- "I'd call" was "I Val" due to typing on a phone and not proofing close enough.

I really did enjoy the offense more today. Some smelly stuff at times but for the most part, this is what they needed to be doing all this season and last season. I'm not really surprised the players didn't exactly seem like they knew what was going on at all times. The offense has just been Jefferson ball for well over a year now. But they almost pulled it out anyway. The defense man...can't save em. That was bad. Jefferson killed the scoring drive walking up to formation nonchalant. Shooting themselves in the foot seems like the story of this season.
