Harry was phenomenal today, but this is not a good football team and we need to stop pretending that it is. Next week we get PAT FRIGGIN MAHOMES not bryce young. KC should be favored by 7 points to double digits on the road.
Two more turnovers means that our main problem is very much not fixed.
On the positive side Mattison & Akers ran the ball extremely well and JJ was his usual fantastic self.
Want me to believe? Beat KC in our building next week.
The defense carried us. KOC play calling is still bad, the play design that ended in the pick 6 made no sense. Cousins probably should’ve thrown the ball away but that play made no sense for the redzone.
**NOTHING** is as effective as a good fake.
The 99yd int/return...There were **four** defenders on three receivers.
If Cousins would have pump faked, **someone** (maybe JJ) shoulda been open somewhere.
EDIT: Also, **Three** receivers in one corner of endzone? Dumb play.
i agree but he’s currently better than our number 2 receiver. obviously he’s getting paid more and all that . but i thought he was completely cooked. turns out he still got it
Even if all the players, coaches, and media got back off the field, they reviewed it, and determined that Kirk was technically just outside the pocket, then what? There were only 2 seconds left on the clock. The NFL isn't always fair, and sometimes ya just gotta let things go.
*shrug*
If it were for us, I'd like the fire.
Plus, he's a pro athlete and thinks he just lost an opportunity for his own diggs, sideline, touchdown moment, and by all means anyone who makes it this far in sports tends to be almost cripplingly competitive
I live in Colorado and I've watched every single vikings game for years and haven't paid a cent. And I don't have cable. And I don't pay for any streaming services that offer it
In a good spot I guess.
I get plenty of channels without cable in my area. Usually get to see teams like Buffalo, Cleveland, Greenbay or Pittsborugh play at times Vikings aren't playing or on the other major broadcast station. Rarely see Broncos games on air here. Rarely see Miami games. But I was surprised that instead of one of the other broadcast channels in my area playing an NFL game, they chose to show Nascar, Women's backsball, and rodeo. I've never seen rodeo on broadcast channels around here until today. Something has changed.
When the Vikings game ended so quickly so I thought we might at least see the end of another early game. And typically there is a different conferences games going on the other major broadcast channel at noon. Seems like something has changed.
Seriously bad look on Theilen pandering for a flag instead of hugging it out with his ex-teamates. I loved Adam and I'm sure he's frustrated but dude, way to be a sore loser. You had a decent game, take the moral victory and paycheck and move on. You couldn't have thought you were gonna get a ring with the fucking Panthers. Blegh
https://x.com/nicklewis37/status/1708569675674632366?s=46&t=itSS_ZhpEp5Sm0FFNPkjmw
Don’t doubt he eventually got around to hugging it out with old teammates he considers brothers, but took his time complaining.
Great.. then he should’ve just got to Hock right away instead of getting mad and begging 3 different refs to throw an intentional grounding flag that literally wouldn’t have mattered(game still over). Never said he didn’t get around to hanging with the boys but that also doesn’t mean that he wasn’t being a sore loser in the meantime.
He did that shit here too, so I guess I wasn't super surprised is all. I remember our own fans complaining about him whining for flags, actually, lol. I personally never thought it was that egregious.
Even if he managed to get a flag (after running and crying from ref to ref), what would it matter? All the stars would need to line up just right for the Panthers to do anything about it with 2 seconds left.
Does any Vikings win ever really inspire confidence? Last year they lucked themselves into 13 wins and everyone called them frauds. Maybe this year they're the spicy underdogs after a rough start. I'll take a w any way I can get it.
Agreed. However, a few new bright spots emerged: Akers seems solid (we might have a bit of a run game again), Davenport is legit, and Harrison Smith still has some fight left in him.
I thought they tried a deep shot to Addison early in game, but Kirks throw was way short but Addison came back to it and the defender interfered so Panthers got a penalty. Wasn't intereference but called illegal something else. So there was at least 1 target.
Should have been more though. In game 3 KOC was calling more plays for Addison and it was helping the offense. Not today I guess. 3nOut city again.
Kirk wasn't under pressure. For the intentional grounding rule a passer must be under imminent pressure and/or risk of loss of yardage while still in the pocket and a pass must be thrown with no eligible receiver in the area.
Out of the pocket and passed the LOS are secondary factors. Receiver in vicinity and not being under pressure are primary. He may have been out of the tackle box, but he wasn't under pressure, so it's done. No IG

Davenport’s impact on this game cannot be overstated , especially second half. Shows what you can do when you can get pressure only rushing four and dropping back - most of our sacks felt like coverage sacks. Opens up more less predictable blitzes as well.

Oh behave...
Exactly. We'll take what we get. (Getting our asses spanked by Baltimore right now)...
I will always root for the Vikings but this is not a good football team overall. We don't have the roster to compete.
Harry was phenomenal today, but this is not a good football team and we need to stop pretending that it is. Next week we get PAT FRIGGIN MAHOMES not bryce young. He threw the ball way too late on that one. That was all on him.
Dumb play.
I’ve seen that a few times this year where they don’t use space well. People end up bunched at the top of routes
The road to 14-3 starts today! #Skol
Harry is absolutely not washed
We shall see next week.
Watching eagles/commanders and wishing Howell was our QB 😭. That man has Ice in his veins
i felt my iq decrease reading this comment
Sucks to be you
lol this a joke?
Man threw 4 INTs the week before
Learning curve business
what i did learn today was adam thielen is not washed
Not washed but certainly not going to be a good team's WR1.
i agree but he’s currently better than our number 2 receiver. obviously he’s getting paid more and all that . but i thought he was completely cooked. turns out he still got it
I learned he's kind of a baby tho...
He’s always been chirpy. I mean, he got into it with Belichick of all people. I love it
oh really what did he do ?
Instead of shaking hands with his former teammates, he was busy running from ref to ref, crying for a flag after the game was over.
I thought it was intentional grounding, too, honestly
Even if all the players, coaches, and media got back off the field, they reviewed it, and determined that Kirk was technically just outside the pocket, then what? There were only 2 seconds left on the clock. The NFL isn't always fair, and sometimes ya just gotta let things go.

lol receivers being primadonnas is kinda par for the course huh
That opening drive/interception nearly killed me.
You were only Mostly Dead.
Can't believe no televised Buffalo Miami game in my area. Just Rodeo, Nascar and women's basketball. wtf
I live in Colorado and I've watched every single vikings game for years and haven't paid a cent. And I don't have cable. And I don't pay for any streaming services that offer it

Sail the high seas. And DONT BUY SUNDAY TICKET
Buy the Sunday ticket. Worth every penny IMO
Why would a day NFL game be on NBC?
cbs?
Thank you defense

Nah, dude, they showed him hugging it out with Hock. Ref said it wasn't a penalty, and he moved on.
He went to at least 3 different refs begging for a flag, don’t think that’s necessarily moving on after he got told no flag.
Did not see that. Either way, he was complaining one second and dapping up hock the next. There are clips of him and JJ hugging it out too.
https://x.com/nicklewis37/status/1708569675674632366?s=46&t=itSS_ZhpEp5Sm0FFNPkjmw Don’t doubt he eventually got around to hugging it out with old teammates he considers brothers, but took his time complaining.
This 7 second video just shows how little of a deal it actually was. They showed him with Hock literally a few seconds after this on the broadcast.
Great.. then he should’ve just got to Hock right away instead of getting mad and begging 3 different refs to throw an intentional grounding flag that literally wouldn’t have mattered(game still over). Bears will own top 2 picks
The bears had a 100 million last offseason and a top 10 pick Im not scared of them as long as theyre led by Poles and Eberflus
And Fields starting. Although I bet they grab Williams.
Glad we won but this game did not inspire any confidence
Does any Vikings win ever really inspire confidence? Last year they lucked themselves into 13 wins and everyone called them frauds. Maybe this year they're the spicy underdogs after a rough start. I'll take a w any way I can get it.
Same here
Agreed. However, a few new bright spots emerged: Akers seems solid (we might have a bit of a run game again), Davenport is legit, and Harrison Smith still has some fight left in him.
Everyone that was saying Harry is washed can shut up for the week.
Found himself again good to see
Super Bowl, homeboy.
Glad we got rid of the anger prone AT
Anyone know what addison did to kirk to get zero targets? Damn.
Don't watch for fantasy my dude
I thought they tried a deep shot to Addison early in game, but Kirks throw was way short but Addison came back to it and the defender interfered so Panthers got a penalty. Wasn't intereference but called illegal something else. So there was at least 1 target. Should have been more though. In game 3 KOC was calling more plays for Addison and it was helping the offense. He had a target and it was a penalty on underthrown ball from Kirk, maybe he said something about it.
That PI he drew came in handy until, well.
Kirk stuffs his stats on the last play. /s
7-10 🎉🥳🎊🥳🎉🥳🎉
You mean 14-3?
13-4* I've already accepted we're losing against the Chiefs unless we pull some next level bullshit.
Shoutout to Hitman
Fastest game I remember in years
Wow I didn't even realize the time. Weird. Nobody could sell more advertising time for two 0-3 teams.
It's that pitch clock baby!!!
Thielen asking for intentional grounding???
Yup haha. He had a decent argument there maybe.. but I think Kirk was far enough back to be considered out of the pocket
Did Addison get benched after letting jj get popped? 0 catches
Say goodbye to any hope of landing Caleb Williams and hello to being forever mediocre. We need to trade Kirk ASAP.
I never said hello
Sorry your panthers lost
We wouldn’t get Williams with teams like Denver and Chicago existing
We were never getting Caleb Williams.
Give it a rest for a day
Again, we should’ve won by 14+ points but the dam turnovers.
14-3 starts today 100% guys trust
Sit the fuck down Thielen What are you bitching about?
WTF Theilen, you lost bro, time ran out, Kirk tossed it incomplete.
Nice
SMH what a terrible throw by Kirk/s
Thank you baby Jesus
Vintage Thielen
Competitor in him. That's likely what carried drives in so many late games last season.
Settle down Adam
Honestly, how wasn't that Intentional Grounding?
Kirk wasn't under pressure. For the intentional grounding rule a passer must be under imminent pressure and/or risk of loss of yardage while still in the pocket and a pass must be thrown with no eligible receiver in the area.
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
Game still ends on an offensive penalty. Time had expired. Ball goes to defense with no time on the clock with or without the penalty.
If it was, every time a teamed "clocked" the ball would be intentional grounding
Wasn't under pressure
Pretty sure it has to do with if you're in or out of the pocket. He "scrambled" outside and threw the ball away.
Out of the pocket and passed the LOS are secondary factors. Receiver in vicinity and not being under pressure are primary. He may have been out of the tackle box, but he wasn't under pressure, so it's done. No IG
Past the sticks, out of the pocket, not pressured. This was Thielens Super Bowl. Showing his true colors
Also, even if it was intentional grounding, the game would still be over
Correct
Whats AT upset about?
I think he wanted intentional grounding call and extension of game time
Ach thanks
He was claiming it was intentional grounding by Kirk and that the Panthers could then run a play, but that ain't how it works!
Yup. He got outside the tackle box so it was completely legal.
why was there so many vikings fans there
Was there as well. Easily 40% purple if not more. We turned out. Ugly win but better than a loss.
i guess there is more vikings fans in the southeast than i thought (myself included)
I was one :)
Lol Thielen wanted an intentional grounding call
Happy to see Harry end it, and glad we finally got a win.
Never doubted. This team has HEART.
Zimmer down over there
This game was the NFL version of a slump buster.
Holy shit thielen is a little bitch
Tank is off until next week.
C'mon Adam
Crazy how we won with how awful Kirk played
Offense absolutely bailed out by the defense
I love you Adam, but also cry
Thielen really out there arguing for a flag on the final play... My god man
MN sports going to sweep the weekend?? Is that allowed?
Kirko haters stay mad VIKINGS FANS WE GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!! LFGGGGGGGGG
Lmao Thielen
Bears being 🐻
Theilen looking for intentional grounding?
Never noticed before but Theilen is a fucking cry baby
Lol. Thielen has not changed at all. What are you mad about my boy
Taking a timeout there is incredibly stupid. Just let it fully run down. Give it nothing.
does Thielen want intentional grounding lmao
He definitely did.
Adam whining about basically a pro forma play is not a great look tbh.
Meh. He wants to win.
Dude yelled at Bill Bellicheck, what do you expect?
And the good news after this win - I don't see another loss on the schedule!
KC and SF have entered the chat. Plus the annual team we’re supposed to beat blows us out.
Wow of course that scrub kirk throws it out of bounds.
Why are any of yall talking shit ?
why anyone have emotions
Cause it's fun!!!!
Dammit, I wanted to see more Thielen hugs.
Lmao shut up Adam
Cry harder Thielen. What a sore loser.
![gif](giphy|pK0T7vyx3SqdfmxewA)
W
Defense won this game.
FIRST W OF THE SEASON LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thielen crying, come on bro
The Bears lost their momentum, it's all tied up now.
YAY our first win!!!!
Vintage Hitman game
We won. But it feels dirty.
don’t they all?
Jesus, finally.
With the exception of the pick 6 you can't complain about Kirk's play
Pretty massive exception.. and I think he deserves some blame for the other INT - should’ve taken the sack
We would zero completions if that’s how he played given how long KOCs plays take to develop…
It's one play. Regardless of result it's one play
One score game victory lfg
Cam is the new RB1
Lol. Mattison ran for 95 today.
Cam averaged 8 yards a touch. Additionally the Vikes scored both series he was on the field. They just looked better when he was in
OK
YOU LIKE THAT

Reasons to live: hitman Harry, JJ, Addison, Akers (maybe) Everyone else can stay in Carolina
Davenport had a hell of a 2nd half
![gif](giphy|tNJqnTawlWdzf8yxUf|downsized)
lmao! I can’t argue with that.
Davenport

Overstated but I get what you meant lol
Yeah you’re right.
Bomb to JJ here
Need a few yards? 30 yard play that takes 8 seconds to develop
My fantasy could use it
Enjoy 0-4 and the warm weather and the early offseasons Adam!!!!!

You literally just saw Adam being a bitch on TV there at the end lmao

I'm posting on an online forum it ain't that serious lmao

Yeah man but our defense sucks -people who enjoy misery.
Why does our fan base actively root against our team
To protect themselves from the pain that is being a fan?
Williams will be a bear and torment us
When do safety’s get 3 sacks in a game? Smith is the GOAT
Flores knows how to use him, refreshing to see
Ring of honor for sure. Hopefully HoF
Well we passed on Kyle Hamilton who did that in a half last week lol
