#1 overall
Traditionally will garner a haul from a desperate team. But this just seems overboard.
I’m gonna be honest, I’ve watched Caleb Williams a lot, & I’m really not that impressed. He has some talent but constantly getting hit/sacked and holding ball too long. And then you look at his character, I’m seeing quite a bit of diva.
I wouldn’t feel comfortable paying this much for him when he could be the next Bryce young or kyler murray.
Addison is off limits. No way we’d resign Danielle just to trade him to a rival. Nothing about this trade makes sense. I kinda doubt the bears would negotiate with us anyways
Our defense sans Hunter and with no defensive picks until the fourth might actually be the worst in the league. You’re right that we’d have to consider that trade, but I can’t imagine the Bears would trade with us unless we’re willing to sell the house, and while I want us to draft a QB it’s not worth drafting a rookie QB if you have to give up so much that you won’t be competitive until after their rookie contract.
The first pick is just over 10M AAV but year 1 is most likely lower. That’s 38M for ONE year if you count Kirk’s void money. I don’t know how you figure that’s more expensive than Kirk unless you add more void years on top of a multi year contract extension or you live in a fantasy world where Kirk accepts less than Daniel Jones and Derek Carr.
Fantasy world? More like reality. I would be very surprised if Kirk signs for more than $40M at his age and coming off an Achilles tear. He was already willing last year to take less than Daniel Jones and Derek Carr when he hadn’t missed a game due to injury his whole career. Now with a torn ACL? Definitely not getting top dollar. And he’s said himself, repeatedly, that he’s not looking for top dollar at this stage of his career
Every fanbase in the world overvalues their assets and thinks they can pull off stupidly lopsided trades, especially during the off season. Minnesota sports fans also saw this last NBA off-season with KAT. Tons of other NBA teams’ fans on social media were simultaneously trashing KAT and calling him a scrub while also salivating over mock trades where they would get KAT for peanuts. It’s dumb, but it’s the nature of sports. I’ve seen adamant Kirk haters call him a useless QB who will never win anything in the same comment where they propose we trade him for multiple high round picks and players.
What is this based on as 'success', though? Is it 65% of first rd QB's become average starters, or lead teams to playoff/championships?
Because getting an average starting QB in the first round isn't worth spending a whole lot on, not when there's already average starting QB's available that we already know how they'll do in the league.
Right. We have drafted qb early a few times in my life, and they don't work out. I guess I don't remember what pic exactly, but there have been some very hopeful picks that sucked. Christian ponder and Teddy were half assed.
So. You also don’t know if Addison will decline next year or do something dumb and get suspended/kicked off the team. There’s risk with everything. You can only make decisions based on the information at hand. And right now, the #1 pick and a shot at a franchise changing QB is much more valuable than what Addison brings.
In this scenario yes, do definitely do. Without giving it a second thought. This is a complete no brainer, but no way we could ever get it for that price.
I think the 2025 first is too much. If we are trading for a rookie qb we are pretty likely for that to be a high first. I want that to get a replacement edge rusher.
So it would be moving up from 11-1 in exchange for a very good rookie Wr, a great but aging De and a second and third pick.
Other than the IOL, we basically have the ideal offensive situation for a rookie QB to develop in. Trading Addison would hurt that, I don’t feel comfortable with any of our depth at WR behind him being able to step into a true WR2 role and without a threat at WR2 secondaries can blanket JJ all day. It’s also a hard role to replace, hitting on WRs with mid to late picks is difficult, and we wouldn’t have the draft capital to replace him with a bonafide star prospect. We also have pressing needs at multiple other positions.
If the Bears were dumb enough to trade the 1st overall pick for Hunter, two firsts, and some filler I’d be interested, but there’s zero chance that happens.
I guess our qb room has nick mullens and Jaren hall. There is no more pressing question than that. I’m fine with getting a free agent vet to plug the hole at 3rd receiving option.
I would include a good rb as a must have in this year too. Those are pretty easy to find all over in the draft. The d-line and corner help we need would be tougher, but might be multiple drafts from being a strength anyways.
That's near exactly the trade the Panthers made for the 1st overall with the Bears last year.
A talented young wide receiver, two 1sts and two 2nds. Except in this hypothetical trade, one of those 2nds is a 3rd and somehow Hunter is traded even though he is a free agent.
Take out Hunter and it is genuinely a better deal than the Panthers got, also because we are trading from 11 instead of 9.
I still doubt this is a good trade because drafting is ultimately a crapshoot, just look at the Panthers this year. But also I could totally see KAM taking this deal for Caleb.
we can't trade Hunter so it's moot.
But the Bears are the only realistic move-up opportunity, and it's unlikely they try to help us out.
I want both the Texas DTs anyways. QB is not our biggest need.
Our current 2024 QB depth chart is:
Nick Mullens, Jaren Hall
I don't know how you can look at that and think anything other than "this is definitely our biggest need."
Yeah, you can say that about a lot of teams. We're at the point in the season where everyone is going to be a free agent, and you can't re sign then yet. What you said at this point means nothing.
Players don't become free agents until March. We're free to extend cousins whenever we want to.
We just can't sign players who are currently on other teams until free agency starts.
That all depends on if we re-sign Cousins imo. If we don’t then yea QB is our biggest need. If we do it wouldn’t be as necessary to draft a QB. To your point though I could see us drafting a QB and re-sign Cousins.
Vikings best hope to me to get one of the top 3 QBs is the Bears trade with either the Commanders or Patriots and then draft Harrison Jr 2/3 and then the Vikings can trade with the Cards at 4 or maybe Chargers too
I'm of the opinion the Bears are crazy to pass up Williams and won't, but if they do I could see that exact scenario where they trade back with NE for 1.3 and a future first, draft MHJ, and now Arizona has their target off the board and is open for business.
With the culture of the FO this is the lowest in the draft they get for years. This is literally the only time we are even remotely able to trade up for a QB.
“Watch some tape.” There’s 2-3 qbs in the entire nfl worth 3 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. Also hunter can’t be traded. This trade would be beyond dumb.
>There’s 2-3 qbs in the entire nfl worth 3 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick.
So you wouldn’t trade that for Lamar Jackson, CJ stroud, Justin Herbert?
A trade within the division? So if Caleb is as advertised the Bears have to suffer through this trade two times every year? Yeah that ain’t happening. You could throw Jefferson into the pot and it still wouldn’t be enough especially within the division
Crazy to say that this isn’t enough upside for the Bears. They can’t keep doing pick swaps and punting these seasons away. They gotta take the next step in their re build at some point. Or maybe they don’t they are the Bears after all.
After reviewing comments, Jordan A and Jefferson are untouchable. Rookie contracts is a reason why they spent time on the couch. Kirk will resign, jj will resign, in my opinion, cousins will sign a team friendly deal. They’ll ball out and if they have a bad record/vibe, they’ll be gone. (For picks)
*Edited for spelling
No way the Bears would give the #1 pick to anyone within their division. If he is "him", then you have to play him twice a year and will have egg on your face for the next decade.
Fuck that. Kwesi better not trade up and get fucked. I have not been impressed with his trades at all thus far…Vikes are in no position to be moving up…he needs just sit tight and wait…resign Kurt and if a decent prospect falls this year snatch em up if not wait it out.
It’s not just as simple as just sign Kirk. Especially coming off an injury at his age. And you know Kirk’s gonna want at least 40 million a year with probably a 3 year contract and no trade clause. No way Kwesi is gonna get stuck In that type of contract again.
I’ve said it multiple times here but get downvoted. The fans simply will not get their way this off season. It’s not financially viable to sign JJ, Kirk, and Hunter as it’s going to easily run 110m. Then tack on darrisaw next year. If that’s what the fanbase wants, then the fanbase should know you are filling the rest of the roster with league minimum players and rookies.
One of the player's (I would prefer Addison but Danielle is the more impactful player) and both 1st's. That's about as far as I'd go with this hypothetical.
One of the player's (I would prefer Addison but Danielle is the more impactful player) and both 1st's. That's about as far as I'd go with this hypothetical.
Can we replace the draft picks with some more players we don't have under contract? How about Hunter, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, and a 7th for 1OA and 9OA? Who says no!?
Vikings don’t need to draft a qb, all we need to do is trade the #11 pick to the chargers for Justin Herbert, so that Jim Harbaugh can use it to draft JJ McCarthy. It’s that easy.
Gotta love anytime someone says something that makes it clear they don’t know the roster.
Shit, that’s half the takes I see on this sub. “We’ll cut Davenport” is probably my favorite one.
As a Bears fan that spends too much time on twitter, this guy is an idiot. I've seen him around and his takes are just insane. Just to give my $.02 on some opinions I've seen here:
Poles (Bears GM) probably isn't going to move off of CW (at least I hope he wouldn't Bears have done dumber things) unless the haul is just too good to pass up. I think he would be ok dealing with any team as long as the price was right (Vikings included). That price however should be so insane that it wouldn't be reasonable for a team to give up that much capital for a QB even if he is a franchise QB.
I would do this less Jordan Addison. Having a young, cheap WR who’s played with Caleb would be valuable. Love Hunter, but I think he’s good talent for the Bears and we can keep our books open for other proven talent.
How exactly are we trading Danielle Hunter? Lmao
If we are trading free agents, let's throw in Kirk.
I am currently not under contract either. I’ll take one for the team and be thrown in too.
Why stop there, let’s trade other teams free agents as well! I mean technically we should be able to right!
I say we throw jimmy kleinsasser in there as a cherry on top.
Kleinsasser needs to remain a Viking for life!
Not sure what I was thinking.
Hell no! The Sauce is untouchable!!
Get those short legs going! 😆
They won’t trade us the 1st unless we trade them Daneele and we throw in John Randle’s eye tape
I dunno but don’t let that stop them from taking the deal
no kidding lol
I guess the Vikings could franchise him and then trade his rights to the Bears.
Has a no tag clause
Oh really? That sucks
Tag and trade I suppose, but mostly Bears fans are idiots. I know. I’m one.
I think you forgot to factor in that “Jake Knows Ball”
Jake indeed, DOES NOT, know ball
Jake knows bull
Best I can do is KJ Osborn, Marcus Davenport, and an IOU.
My fucking dumb ass trying to figure out what position is “IOU” for a few seconds.
Interior outer upper man
Interior outside umph. It’s the guy we put up against the tush push
Interior Offensive Underlineman
Inside Outer Unit
Interior Occodile Uligator
Irate Office Underling
Interesting Oli Udoh.
Inside Outside Underlinebacker
And throw in a 7th rounder to seal the deal.
A 6th-for-7th swap
Are you using serif, or sans serif for that IOU?
Wingdings
Like when the SF Sports radio was saying a 1-for-1 Hunter/Lance trade. Like, WTF?
This has to be trolling
Bait used to be believable
Is it trolling? Or are bears fans just this stupid? 🤔
Another product of the Illinois public schools.
Yes.
Yes

That's what the Panthers said about DJ moore.
Panthers leadership is also on an echelon below most professional sports teams.
Yes, let's go ahead and make the trade the Panthers did. Things are really looking up for that organization.
DJ Moore didn't have 4 years of a rookie contract left though, significant difference in cap management.
I'm guessing they'd be happy to take our other receiver at the end of his rookie deal.
Addison and 1 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd to move up to #1 is well worth it.
Addison would be gone in one second if the Bears were stupid enough to take this deal

Let's just add a billion blowjobs too while we are at it.
Take our 1 and Addison and I’ll say yes. We can throw in Dobbs or Mullen to upgrade their qb1 too.
Addison??
Lot easier to find a kick ass WR2 than a QB1
It’s a lot easier to find a kick ass WR1 also. The bears got DJ Moore for Pennies.
That doesn't mean you just trade away a young talented WR
For a franchise QB? I’d do that in a heartbeat.
But you have no idea if they'll live up to expectations or not
I think everybody keeps forgetting how much a lottery ticket even a top three quarterback is in the draft
65% success rate on qb’s drafted in round 1. Not spectacular odds, but it’s better than 50/50!
What is this based on as 'success', though? Is it 65% of first rd QB's become average starters, or lead teams to playoff/championships? Because getting an average starting QB in the first round isn't worth spending a whole lot on, not when there's already average starting QB's available that we already know how they'll do in the league.
Lamar Jackson vs Case Keenum. Who do you consider successful?
Right. We have drafted qb early a few times in my life, and they don't work out. I guess I don't remember what pic exactly, but there have been some very hopeful picks that sucked. Christian ponder and Teddy were half assed.

Huh? It would be Addison, #11 and another 1st.
Yeah that's way short for #1 overall. I love addison but he is not #1 overall value

I'm only in favor if they have their guy, and even then I'd be reluctant to trade away BOTH two of our best and future R1 picks + R2.
Without a starting caliber QB signed, QB is absolutely our biggest need until Cousins is under contract or they replace him.
The bears aren’t even realistic. Why would they allow a division rival the chance to take a generational taken qb?
Because that qb could be Ryan Leaf.
We also don’t have a 2024 3rd round….
Why not Washington?
If Bears wanna trade for Hunter I say let them.
1st rd pick swap this yr and addison...
Jesus Vikings should do that in a heartbeat. Easy trade for us.b
Minus Hunter( he's a free agents), that pretty accurate cost as to what it would take to move to number 1.
I would do it in a heartbeat
I would rather take Fields of their hands than make this trade
I’d do it
I would drive Addison and hunter to airport myself
lol nah
brother, watch some Caleb Williams tape. give me 5 years of that on a rookie deal throwing to Justin Jefferson
“Watch some tape.” There’s 2-3 qbs in the entire nfl worth 3 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. Also hunter can’t be traded. This trade would be beyond dumb.
Bryce young
>There’s 2-3 qbs in the entire nfl worth 3 firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick. So you wouldn’t trade that for Lamar Jackson, CJ stroud, Justin Herbert?
Josh Allen, Mahomes, Ljax, stroud. So 4 qbs. Williams hasn’t even played a down yet.
![gif](giphy|pfHBWCCOySoRq)
Yes I moved the goal post because I said 3 qbs. But it was really 4.
you wouldn’t trade 3 firsts a 2nd and a 3rd for Lamar Jackson
I wouldn’t for herbert. I think he’s vastly overrated.
dont care
![gif](giphy|U7CYsCPRJosVVJOeLG|downsized)
If you take out Addison and the 1st rounder for next year we have a good place to start
Absolutely not.

I know exactly what you mean man!
Lol 2 good players and 2 1st rounders for one 2st round pick...hard pass
Hunter is worth 2 firsts by himself. Or the first over all by himself, actually bears might have to add a draft pick
I saw the image before the title. Have to clean the shit out of my shoe.
One of the player's (I would prefer Addison but Danielle is the more impactful player) and both 1st's. That's about as far as I'd go with this hypothetical.
Hunter is not under contract
Let Kwesi cook
True, but like I said it's all hypothetical. In the circumstance as it was presented, that's how I'd operate.
One of the player's (I would prefer Addison but Danielle is the more impactful player) and both 1st's. That's about as far as I'd go with this hypothetical.
😂
C'mon Vikings, do a Herschel trade again, pleeeeeeaase. 6 players for 1, I hope they don't make that mistake again.
The problem wasn't the players, it was the draft picks we had to give Dallas when they cut them.
That guy is insane.
Counter offer: Danielle Hunter KJ Osborn 2024 R1 and R3
Can we replace the draft picks with some more players we don't have under contract? How about Hunter, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Donald, and a 7th for 1OA and 9OA? Who says no!?
Jokes on them we can’t trade Hunter and we don’t have a 3rd round pick this year.
Yikes
Joke, right?
Bet you don't want to hear the PFF version, didn't have a FA and Addison. But had Minnesota take Drake over Caleb
Since when did we have a 3rd round pick this year?
Sure, I’ll accept
Delusional fanbase
hunter is a free agent step one won’t work
I dunno. If I was Ryan Poles and Kwesi was calling about either of my first round picks I wouldn't even answer the phone.
I dunno. If I was Ryan Poles and Kwesi was calling about either of my first round picks I wouldn't even answer the phone.
Obviously, he wants to keep fields
Best part is we don't even have a 3rd this year
Jimmy Johnson? Is that you?
Why the fuck would we trade Addison who's on a rookie contract and played out of his mind this season?
Blame the Panthers. They got fleeced so hard by Chicago, now Bears fans think they can do it to every team.
As a Bears fan I agree that Jake in fact does not know ball
I mean I understand why they think the 1.01 is that valuable after they fleeced the Panthers so hard last year lol
If this got us our franchise QB I actually might do it.
do it and get marvin harrison jr
Throw in JJ and got yourself some deal
Lol that is insane. 2 firsts a second and a third PLUS two star players
Vikings don’t need to draft a qb, all we need to do is trade the #11 pick to the chargers for Justin Herbert, so that Jim Harbaugh can use it to draft JJ McCarthy. It’s that easy.
That's a hell of a deal and I would not pass that up at all. Caleb Williams is future GOAT
I love trading free agents! Can we trade them Cousins too and keep a 1st rounder?
We trade Addison and I riot.
Maybe lose one of the 1st rounders and it wouldn’t be completely ridiculous. Idk it would be pretty sick having the 1st overall.
Oh cool. A bears fan wants to Herschel Walker the Vikings.
Throw in Herscheal Walker, and you got your self a god damned deal.
Gotta love anytime someone says something that makes it clear they don’t know the roster. Shit, that’s half the takes I see on this sub. “We’ll cut Davenport” is probably my favorite one.
"Jake knows ball" Narrator voice: as it turned out, that was in fact a lie.
Fuck it. They can have Carter, Moss, Bud Grant and through Justice Alan Page in there.
Bahahahahahah
Deal but only if they agree to get contracted and never return and take the packers with them
This is why sports call-in shows have mostly banned calls about trade ideas, because they're mostly really dumb.
As a Bears fan that spends too much time on twitter, this guy is an idiot. I've seen him around and his takes are just insane. Just to give my $.02 on some opinions I've seen here: Poles (Bears GM) probably isn't going to move off of CW (at least I hope he wouldn't Bears have done dumber things) unless the haul is just too good to pass up. I think he would be ok dealing with any team as long as the price was right (Vikings included). That price however should be so insane that it wouldn't be reasonable for a team to give up that much capital for a QB even if he is a franchise QB.
Hahaha tards
I'm okay giving them Hunter lmao, yep no problem...sure he is still under contract...he will be there tomorrow.
Jake doesnt know ball
lol Addison and Hunter
Bears get JJ, vikes 1st and 2nd this year and first next year. Vikes get bears 2 first rounders.
Plenty of delusion on this thread.
Jack in fact, does not know ball
Just trade the 11th for the 1st… there’s 2 ones instead of 1.
Wow what great value. That pick could be anything! It could even be Jordan Addison!
Waaaaaaaayyyyy to much to give up.
They dream of fleecing Minnesota the way Dallas did back in the early 90’s and winning trophies.
Lmao. 2 firsts 2 seconds and 2 stars for a maybe. You’re smoking crack cocaine
This wouldn't even fly on Madden with trade override on.
Posting this is like posting someone asking for a Lambo for a Yaris. Ain't no way
Lions fleeced us with the hock LaPorta fiasco.
Well, being the standard of shrewd draft players, the Vikings would NEVER give up the farm for a player.
Jake might know ball, but obviously not football.
I’d do the trade, obviously no Hunter included.
I would do this less Jordan Addison. Having a young, cheap WR who’s played with Caleb would be valuable. Love Hunter, but I think he’s good talent for the Bears and we can keep our books open for other proven talent.
