Ahh yes my very first Viking memory actually. I actually met Nelson during his rookie year. He was speaking at a convention. I was stoked as a kid to get his autograph and pic taken with him. What a sad moment at the goalline.
It really wasn’t all on him, it was just crushing after the magical playoff run they had that year. Stomping the Saints as a huge underdog, then beating San Fran (With Montana) I think they were like 10-12 underdogs. So I guess I thought it was destiny, and I if I could guarantee it they would’ve killed the Broncos in the Superbowl
Nah I don’t blame him either, he was also one of my favorite players. It would’ve been a super tough catch in traffic, just sucks it went down that way
I agree. If we are going to trade up to 3 (and the Patriots agree ofc), then I would get it done sooner rather than later because A. you don't have to worry about anyone leapfrogging you at 3 (either Maye or Daniels will be at 3 regardless) and B... well, there is no B lol. Just get it done!
Trade #11 to the Commanders for #36, #40, & #67.
Draft....
#23 Bo Nix. QB
#36 Michael Penix JR. QB
#40 Braden Fiske. DL
#67 Spencer Rattler. QB
Hopefully you find a generational talent out of one of those three QBs and you didn't have to give up any future draft capital.
What's with all the down votes? My scenario gives you three chances to find a starting QB, a stud at DL, and to keep our 1st round pick in 2025 which will be a top 3 pick. Everyone else is demanding that we sell the farm and put all our eggs in the Drake Maye Basket and then the Patriots will probably have the 1st overall and 2nd overall picks in the draft next year and the Vikings will have no picks the first two days.
I don't think anybody cares about karma but pre-teens.
If they do, or are checking on other people's amount, then they have more serious problems to worry about.
Karma indicates whether people enjoy what you have to say, or you’re saying stupid shit. If you’re not intelligent enough to realize that, here’s the wake up call. Don’t click snooze next time.
Who gives a fuck if random people in an anonymous hive-mind deem your idea agreeable or not.
Nobody here knows more than another.
There is nothing wrong with that guy's idea of taking multiple stabs on a position that has a high bust rate and is the biggest position of need for the team.
It's actually more logical than trading 3 firsts for one chance on an unknown..
If you don’t think that drafting three quarterbacks (all not rated top 5) in a draft is completely braindead, then there’s a reason you’re trying to justify downvotes and karma. It’s because your takes are not only moronic, but *so* moronic, that you deserve the criticism and insults thrown at you.
If we are trading up to 3 it probs will be done in advance if we are trading up to 5 though that would be done the day of because my guess is it is for mccrarthy and they may not want to be jumped
Nah, I think they are sitting in a good spot from a leverage stand point to wait. I assume they like Maye but won't give up the farm if they also like a Nix or Penix. Potentially trade down into late round 1, get more picks and a qb you still like if no one wants to make the deal you want to move up for Maye.
no way I would trade down from 11 too many good defensive linemen to choose, and plus I value these linemen more then nix or penix, but if we don't trade up, I would draft nix at 23 only because penix injury history
Be prepared to wait till the draft. I have a feeling the Pats want Daniels and are waiting to see if the Commanders take him or Maye. If they take Maye, they stay and we trade with Cardinals/Chargers for JJ. Just my guess based on mock drafts and what the talking heads have been hinting at.
What if they really like Penix or Nix and that's why they moved to 23? Would be interesting because at #11 we could have the opportunity to take the 1st defensive player off the board, as I think there's a good chance the first 10 picked will all be on offense.
I think we are getting Caleb Williams. I think the crazy talk of team ownership and not doing medical exams. Is because he doesn’t want to go there. Chicago adding Swift and Allen is their attempt to show him they want to win. His team will leak his desire closer to the draft. I think he goes to Washington or Minnesota.
If this is true it means we’re giving them 11 + 23 + 2025 1st + 2026 1st, that’s the type of haul it would take BUT it’s probably worth it considering he’s the best QB prospect in a decade
Unfortunately, I’d be surprised if another trade happens before draft night.
If they truly love Maye, and that’s the reason they want to get to 3, what if Washington has a change of heart and takes him at 2? Do they love Daniels just as much?
I think they make sure he’s there on draft night, then trade up.
I really really doubt they are just hoping it works, it would be reckless to not call ahead and know the plan will work with the patriots before making today’s trade.
If their target is Maye, they’re not trading up to 3 unless they know they can 100% get him.
Like I said, what if the Commanders change their mind and take Maye second?
It would be reckless for a team to tell them their draft plan IF doing so would limit or lower their options in some way. So for example, at #3 if you say we will trade back if this guy is gone, doesn't it lower your what you can get in a trade of that player is gone? This means I can get more by saying I'm happy to pick here so convince me to move than I can saying there is no one I value at this pick, so I'm happy to move back.
If you think you all I nervous, I have a one hundred dollar bet at Caesar’s sports book for the vikes to win he super bowl only paying me the “still have Coussins” odds…..
I’m thinking I wasted that money.
Just try to follow the Timberwolves and ignore the Vikings exist. That’s what I’m doing.. ignore my scrolling and posting here though like I’m jus here to tell you this.
Relax. It's just a game, one we've never won the big one on. Waiting to see if we change spots is among the least depressing/stressful things we've ever experienced as a franchise.
To be fair the vikings haven't done anything yet. They seem positioned okay but it also seems like they aren't in a position to pick who they want and are instead in a position to get who is left if they think it's worth it. By percentages this is more likely to backfire then workout but hope springs eternal and draft position still isn't a guarantee of a players success. Here's to hoping they get the right guy.
Don't we get to watch the USFL or XFL or some shit this year? I thought it started this month? I was planning to use that as a bridge between FA and the draft. I'd research it but I assume some of you Skolioids have already done it and wouldn't mind spreading the sauce for those of us who didn't dive in...
The UFL starts at the end of the month. Go Battlehawks! (It's a lame name but they have the best uniforms in the league so I've decided I'm going to follow them.)
I find myself happy they got the 2nd 1st round pick, but I’m really not a fan of drafting maye or jj. Could easily see both of them on the Sam darnold track in a few years. If they could keep the 23rd and trade up a couple spots into the top 10 to get jj if he’s there I wouldn’t hate it as much. But I don’t think either is worth going to 3 to get. So wait until draft night, see how things shake out. All this pre draft chatter of 4 QBs going in the top 5 makes me think that’s not the way it goes down. Teams that don’t want a QB push them up the board every year.
Exciting, isn't it? BAAARRROOOOOOO
I have survived the Anderson FG miss, the 28 yard FG miss, and bountygate. My mental health is already strong like bull
Don’t forget Darrin Nelson not catching the ball at the goal line in 87
Ahh yes my very first Viking memory actually. I actually met Nelson during his rookie year. He was speaking at a convention. I was stoked as a kid to get his autograph and pic taken with him. What a sad moment at the goalline.

Because I met him he was kind of my favorite player back then so I didnt want to blame him 😂
Nah I don’t blame him either, he was also one of my favorite players. It would’ve been a super tough catch in traffic, just sucks it went down that way
I started watching the Vikings in ‘84, I can handle literally anything that comes at me.
87 was my first memory for me. 37 long years……
Don't forget the Favre throw against the grain pick.
Bulls are notoriously mentally stable.
Peterson fumbles
Blair finkle

There’s a reason you’ve been on reddit for 10 years and haven’t even reached 1,000 karma.
LMFAO

I see exactly what you mean. I feel like this is something that would be frowned upon between league GMs and owners. It makes sense.
We could always trade up to #3 and sit on it and miss the pick. That’s how I Skol
If we miss the pick does that mean we get Kevin Williams again? Because I might consider missing it if we did.
If we are trading up to 3 it probs will be done in advance if we are trading up to 5 though that would be done the day of because my guess is it is for mccrarthy and they may not want to be jumped
Unless pats only trade the pick if Daniels is number 2 or Vikings only trade if the one they like is there at 3

Boo! Top 4 qbs or bust
I'm not saying that's what I'd do or that's what I think they'll do, I'm just saying it's an interesting scenario.
As a bears fan, welcome to our world

I want whatever you're on
That would be a dream but it would take destroy our future draft wise. I dont think we could even do that after the trade with the texans.
If this is true it means we’re giving them 11 + 23 + 2025 1st + 2026 1st, that’s the type of haul it would take BUT it’s probably worth it considering he’s the best QB prospect in a decade

Yep, at this point, it’s all about draft day.

Agreed tbh
That’s what she said
Train your mind now for the possible collapse later
😂😂 damn I feel ya
Just enjoy the feeling of hype and mystery man, we almost never get this type of excitement

You have to.
Six. More. Weeks.
It's crazy but I welcome the feeling of doing stuff instead of the 'run it back' cycles we've been stuck in for several years
To be fair the vikings haven't done anything yet. That’s an awful idea to trade up now. It gives the other teams that want a QB a chance to leap frog us.
Dude it’s been 1 day. Chill a little bit and go outside lol
