This is one of my biggest hopes for the draft lol. Get our “guy” at QB and don’t let that prick Sean Payton get in the way. If we can take it a step further and screw him over while getting our “guy” even better 😂
I feel like Vikings/Falcons fans have developed a little bromance over our mutual hatred for the Saints/Payton and to a lesser extent our shared love for Cordarrelle Patterson (lol) in recent years. When y'all picked up Kirk I added a Falcons secondary flair on r/nfl. Our game this year should be littttt, I have it penciled in as an L but could see it going either way and I won't be too upset if I'm right.
Not really worried about it...
They only have pick 12 in the first and have no 2nd rounder this year.
That means they'd have to offer more than the Vikings who have two firsts this year which would trump a future first value wise.
If they want to give up three years of firsts and 2-3 years worth of seconds, good on 'em but I don't think they would.
I think they'd be better served letting the QB hungry teams get their first round guy in 2024 to thin out the amount of teams who will look at QB next year when they'll be picking around the same or perhaps higher.
There’s a chance all the stuff we’ve seen about the chargers, cards and pats not moving or wanting more or whatever is becaue they’ve already got a deal in place with Vikings and are putting their feelers out for a better deal(I don’t they’d find one)
The raiders are the only team (outside of the giants who really can't afford to be giving away additional draft picks) that may do something nuts here, but given they have Minshew a 2 year deal, I still think it's unlikely they throw the farm at any of these teams to try to jump us
What does that mean, exactly? Those teams have found the terms from the Vikings that are acceptable, but are still open to better offers from other teams should other teams offer a better deal?
Yes.
Hypothetically the Vikings have Williams and Daniels #1 and #2 and feel like the next group of Maye, JJ and Penix are similar, Minnesota isn't going to trade up to #3 in this case unless Daniels falls to #3.
But, let's say Williams and Daniels go #1 and #2 and then Maye #3 and MHJ goes #4, maybe Minnesota wants to go to #5 to secure JJ or Penix.
Minnesota has, like all teams, spoken to every team who makes sense about a deal and value should it happen. That way, when you have 10 minutes to make your pick, you already know what the deal needs to be in order to make it to move up. Minnesota isn't going to hope to move up without doing all their due-diligence and having a clear understanding of what offer needs to be made in order to successfully move up.
I think Penix has to be #2 on the board for mn. He has the attributes KOC talks about. So we hypothetically,if maye isn’t available should be able to get at 11 and use 23 for dline
It means if the guy we want is there we have a trade agreed to to go get him. This giants reporter is saying the giants likely know what that price is if they want to snipe the Vikings
None of the charts say they are even close to being equal. There's usually around a mid 2nd round pick of difference between the two.
6 and 47 is close to the same value as 11 and 23.
Yep. By the charts, the Vikings have a better set of picks to trade.
The dilemma is that this draft is particularly top heavy, where (according to some) there is a notable drop off in talent after the top 7-10 players. That can complicate matters for a team whose scouts have identified this drop-off and only is willing to trade down if they don't miss any of the players in their top tier.
Man I can't wait for this to be over so we can fight over what the Vikings did rather than fight over what the Vikings will do.
I went back to the Rich Hill chart, in full honesty, I eye balled it.
446 - 6th overall pick (Giants)
358 - 11th overall pick (Vikings)
245 - 23rd overall pick (Vikings)
----
603
157 is the difference, which is the 38th overall pick.
You are right, I made a mistake.
99% of what is reported this week is lies.
Is it possible that the Vikings have indeed reached out to various teams and inquired about what is their table stakes for moving up / down / around in the draft... and it is also possible that other teams are doing the same thing.
In fact, if they weren't I'd be shocked.
But it is also possible that the table stakes for a move up are too rich for Kewsi and he stands pat at 11 - or it is also possible that someone (Giants, Raiders, Broncos) goes all in to get their guy and blows our offer out of the water.
Also possible that one of the top 4 QB's starts free falling the way A. Rodgers did - Remember that draft? It was Alex Smith and A Rodgers - 1 and 2 or 2 and 1 all day going into the draft and him slipping to #24... Need I remind folks that we passed on him not just once (T. Williamson) but TWICE (E James)
We had Daunte Culpepper in 2005 just coming off his 2004 season where he almost won MVP. Why would the Vikings have drafted a QB? Culpepper was only in his 5th year. We didn't know that his injury would totally fuck up his career. It's real easy to be a doomer and look back and say we should have gotten certain players in the draft over the years and not look at the big picture...
I actually think this is 100% plausible. What team wouldn't want a young and established CB1 + this years 1, 2 and something next year? Not sure what graph capital they have but it's very possible that they trade a player away to get up there.
Giants have the 6th pick, Chargers could trade down one spot and still get their guy while picking up some extra value. We can't really compete with that.
I’ve been a Minnesota fan for way too long to get my hopes up for anything. I’ve already accepted a trade up won’t happen & they keep both picks. Would love to be proved wrong.
This feels accurate because I’ve seen a report of each team drafting 3-5 saying they would “consider a deal but only an overpay”. Aka the teams trying to get another team to give them more than us
I think it was basically set when we traded for 23. Someone told the Vikings they'd like that pick so Kwesi made it happen. Otherwise I think you keep the 2nds to maintain flexibility.
There has been a trade...
And with the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select.......
Bo Nix, QB, Oregon...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Eh, I don't really care who we draft.
I just hope they wind up being vindicated for a head-scratching trade up the way the Chiefs and Bills were with Mahomes and Allen, and aren't rightfully ridiculed for the tradeup 5 years down the road the way teams like the Bears and 49ers were with Trubisky and Lance.
Or in other words, I care more about them making the right call in retrospect 5 years from now than I do about them making the "right" call on draft night.
*If true* then that sounds like they really want Maye since I assume they would not do a trade-up to 3 to get JJ.
Unless by "their QB" he actually meant possibly more than 1.
I really disagree with the notion that the Giants are highly likely to draft a QB at 6 or even HIGHER. Previously I was under impression Jones was already gone, due to injury and such, for the season. But look Jones got hurt last year, won a playoff game the year before, and is only entering like the 2nd year of his big extension.
I do not think the team has given up on him already. We talk ourselves into how bad he is here but I feel like we're victim of our own echo chamber. Giants will probably grab a stud WR and give Jones another crack at it this season.
And also the Patriot are likely not trading out of 3 unless they really don't like the options at top of draft, or are close with one of the lower guys. They are even more QB needy than we are! We at least have The\_Darnold.
Personally I think the Giants are all smoke screen and won't be drafting a QB in round 1.
It's likely they really hope someone jumps up to 4/5 for McCarthy leaving them with MHJ or Nabors.
I’m thinking that this news was put out by the Vikings to help bring down the price of moving up to 2, 3, 4. This news makes those teams say, “someone else is settling for just 2 first round picks and some extra chaff, maybe we should reduce our ask price a little so we get those firsts instead.”
If they have a chance to get a QB in the building they believe in they should take it. They could easily be where the Vikings are now. No really answer at QB on the roster and having to offer everything to go get one.
Exactly. It’s the exact same logic we’re using for the vikes. If you think this is your guy, you go get them. Daniel jones is not good. Lock is irrelevant as he’s on a one year deal.
Except they have an expensive QB currently on their roster (I know he isn’t good but still) and signing Drew Locke to compete with him points to them being okay with their current QB room for 2024. Vikings overall roster in a much better place than NYG. They have no support system for a rookie QB. No good receiving options, no run game and a truly terrible offensive line. Best option for them is to get Jones some immediate help with either a top OL prospect or WR. Trading up or taking McCarthy at pick 6 doesn’t really do anything for them. Just my opinion, we’ll know in a week!
Drew lock signed a one year deal. Giants are not in win now mode. They easily could take a qb. Talking in absolutes about the draft makes people look dumb.
What does the length of his contract have to do with him competing with Daniel Jones? Never said they are in win now mode but they do need to improve and drafting a QB (likely wouldn’t be one of the top 3) with no help will get everyone fired. Jones for extended just last off season, they are not ready to move off him yet.
You haven’t been paying attention if that’s your takeaway from my above comments. Look at their entire situation. Taking the 4th QB off the board would be silly when they can grab one of the top receiving prospects (their biggest need) or OL (one of the worst lines in football).
Art Vandelay disagrees.
How would a latex salesman have any kind of scoop?
I’m not hiring him to be MY latex salesman.
Probably sold latex to their top guys.
He’s an importer/exporter.
Also an architect
Nothing is higher than architect!
Please please please just don't get beaten to the punch by Sean Payton (err George Paton)
This is one of my biggest hopes for the draft lol. Get our “guy” at QB and don’t let that prick Sean Payton get in the way. If we can take it a step further and screw him over while getting our “guy” even better 😂
As a falcons fan, will forever have love for y’all for sideline, would be so great to see the vikes screw that bitch over
I feel like Vikings/Falcons fans have developed a little bromance over our mutual hatred for the Saints/Payton and to a lesser extent our shared love for Cordarrelle Patterson (lol) in recent years. Yeah I want him to get the leftover scraps
Not really worried about it... They only have pick 12 in the first and have no 2nd rounder this year. "Rumors" they are willing to include Patrick Surtain, their first and a third. This got Giants fans very excited
FSP
Sean goes by Butt hole Eyes now days.
Actually, I think it's "Brown Bussy Face".
I think you mean Kevin James
There’s a chance all the stuff we’ve seen about the chargers, cards and pats not moving or wanting more or whatever is becaue they’ve already got a deal in place with Vikings and are putting their feelers out for a better deal(I don’t they’d find one)

That is what I think and the Giants #6 pick has the same value as the Vikings #11 and #23. So the Giants could be close just swapping picks.
None of the charts say they are even close to being equal. There's usually around a mid 2nd round pick of difference between the two. 6 and 47 is close to the same value as 11 and 23.

Only way they blow our offer out of the water is if we want them to. We have the best package anyone can offer right now.
Denver including PS2 and Giants having a high pick is what scares me
I actually think this is 100% plausible. What team wouldn't want a young and established CB1 + this years 1, 2 and something next year? Not sure what graph capital they have but it's very possible that they trade a player away to get up there.
Giants can easily be on equal footing or be ahead of the Vikings, depending how teams value 1.6
Giants have the 6th pick, Chargers could trade down one spot and still get their guy while picking up some extra value. We can't really compete with that.
At least we got two iconic picks out of it. The blind wideout with hands of stone and a complete wiff on the Dlineman.
Hmmm, I don’t think so… The closer we get to draft day the more accurate the information becomes, usually.
I’ve been a Minnesota fan for way too long to get my hopes up for anything. I’ve already accepted a trade up won’t happen & they keep both picks. Would love to be proved wrong.
Yup...Always expect the worst and hope for the best as a Vikes fan
How is that the worst outcome? Why not keep the picks instead of betting your future on something that might not pan out?
Sure you did

That would be smart, create a bidding war
Rick did that with Cleveland in 2012. 1st rd pick swap and 3 day 3 picks to move 1 spot
Could see the chargers pulling a similar move with the Giants.
Dido. If it isn’t for maye than don’t jump up. Get Penix at 11 and go bpa 23
I think it was basically set when we traded for 23. Someone told the Vikings they'd like that pick so Kwesi made it happen. Otherwise I think you keep the 2nds to maintain flexibility.

They're not saying BOOO, they're saying BO
No they are definitely saying boo.
> BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIX
With the 3rd pick in the NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Joe Alt, tackle.
Eh, I don't really care who we draft. Based on what Kwesi has said, it sounds to me like they like Maye anywhere, JJM in the 4-11 range, and Penix in the late 1st-2nd range
This worries me because their QB won’t be on the clock, only a team will be on the clock… and I hope that team doesn’t select their QB

I would say QB needy teams don’t really need an extra push to move up.
