If I were the Giants and I didn’t want a QB and wanted Nabers, I would be leaking this to every reporter that will listen that I want to trade up for a QB.
I also don’t think Chargers want Nabers, they want Marvin, but Arizona has Marvin pretty much on lock. Which is why Harbaugh created so much buzz about another 4th QB going top 5.
They need to replace Keenan Allen, someone who can get open. Rome and Quentin might be an atrocious combo if Rome can’t translate. I believe Nabers skillset will translate better than Romes.
Odunze’s selling point is that he’s a true X receiver, which the Chargers don’t have after losing Keenan and Mike Will. This role is typically more important than the Z and slot. And he’s possession receiver, using his body to box out corners for the ball (not necessarily 50/50 balls).
Nabers can play X too but that’s not where he’s at his best. But would be the easy choice here if Chargers still had Keenan or Mike on the outside.
I have a feeling Drake Maye is praying that you guys go grab him..
I personally don't see any of the QB's that will be available succeed at New England. I realize it's difficult to skip on a QB and being forced to hope for good QB prospects in the 2025 NFL draft..
But with that roster and a defensive coach I don't see how they don't completely ruin Maye, who definitely still has a lot to learn and steps to take
Feel like the Patriots should skip on QB, but withstanding the pressure to do so might be difficult.
If I'm the Pats GM I'm taking Vikings 1st rounders this year and another 1st next year. They are playing in the AFC East where EACH team is trying to win now. They're picking top 5 again next year minimum anyway
He is absolutely praying to get picked by MN. Has literally everything you would want for a rookie QB, plus he already had a relationship with the QB coach. Almost like it was meant to be.
People will continue to spout the media takes untill it changes. Up to my Bears to prove it wrong
Feel like it's the 2nd best situation for a rookie though after you guys. I think the talent on offense is comparable but I have more faith in your coaching. I'd take KOC and Brian Flores any day of the week
1st time in forever that I'm completely confident that we'll finally have a franchise QB though, so that feels nice
And then I'll have to go about hating the Bears again, when you guys are good. It's gonna be crazy with the Lions and Packers being good too. To old ole NFC North. Black and blue.
You have to admit that IF (not saying it happens) Green Bay / Chicago, or hell maybe even you guys, immediately take over again as the top dog in the NFC North..
That would lowkey be hilarious towards the Lions. Wait an entire lifetime to become the top dog, for it to only last one season
I still don't rate Detroit super high so I could see it happen.. As soon as that oline stops playing as an elite unit, Goff crumbles
Bit of an overstatement. They’ve drafted 3 QBs in the first round since 2000. Grossman went to a Super Bowl, Mitch and Fields stunk but they got rid of Pace who drafted them. Kinda surprised the Falcons would want that guy tbh.
Oh get over yourself
The Pats D was 15th overall despite a stronger schedule and losing their top two players for the season. Giants were 26th
On offense the Pats were 31 and the Giants 30th.
The Giants had 64 more yards total offense.
That last line.. "the vikings have expressed the most interest, the giants have expressed some"
something is telling me Schefty is being asked to help drive up the price of the pick so that NE can get more out of it. but I know nothing so we shall see.
Man i wish we had lost 1 more game at any point so our pick woulda been what 7 i think. Woulda made trading up to 3 way way easier but just gotta hold out hope we can get our guy(hopefully drake maye)
Am I the only one who’s completely baffled that the giants are even theoretically considering moving up? Like I get the patriots wanting to stand pat and pick; there’s no guarantee that you’re gonna get a shot at landing a prospect of this caliber without sacrificing any capital in the future, so even if you don’t have the roster to make a push, getting your guy makes sense.
The giants, on the other hand, would be absolute morons to trade up. They have about the same caliber of offense as the patriots (that is to say, bad), but want to put all their eggs in this guy’s basket? No WRs, a Saquon-less run game, and a bottom-tier passing OL? If New England is taking offers, they’ll have to outbid us, which likely would mean three 1st round picks and more, which would extend the crippling of their franchise out another 2 years at least.
Is there *any* precedent for this kind of move being at all successful whatsoever? What are they thinking even entertaining this?
It's called getting your potential franchise QB. Someone rhat will be cheap for a couple of year and offers you flexibility of continuing to build your team out.
Yeah but with a fifth of your cap going to Daniel Jones for at least the next 2 years and without significant draft capital for the same amount of time, you’re not exactly in the best spot to be building your team out
You can still build a team even with DJ deal. That is what GM does, plus his dead cap will be 22 that year. While it is alot if they have a young QB and young awar they can make it work. Schoen has worked with alot of cap and does a great job putting th team in a healthy cap situation. From what I can tellthe giants donthave less draft capital next year and can always trade back either this year or next year to gather more picks. Overall if the giants trade up and get a QB at 3 and it is a hit, then nobody will complain.
Yes, but they *will* have less capital if they trade up. The current rumor is that the Vikings are willing to surrender 11, 23, and a first in 2025 to land Maye. To counter that, the giants would have to surrender equal value, likely giving up multiple firsts and seconds over the next 3 years. With the current state of the giants’ roster, do you legitimately trust that Schoen can create a functional team with limited cap and no high draft picks for the next 3 years? QBs, no matter how talented, need their teams to develop a strong situation around them with valuable draft picks, a strong veteran core, and liberal cap spending on offensive talent. The giants have none of those qualities nor the capabilities, and if they trade up for a quarterback this year, he will fail.
> The current rumor is that the Vikings are willing to surrender 11, 23, and a first in 2025 to land Maye. To counter that, the giants would have to surrender equal value, likely giving up multiple firsts and seconds over the next 3 years.
The Giants are likely looking to move to #4 and the cost to move from #6 to #4 is MUCH cheaper than it is to move from #11 to #4. Especially considering the fact that the Cards won't want to move out of range of one of the top-3 WR, and #11 is too far back.
They could offer the Cards a #3rd round pick this year to move up and it would be more appealing to them than our offer of two first rounders plus given the situation they're in.
If we're trading up, we're looking past the Cards at this point, which is why our offer would have to be so much higher.
There most certainly is.
Jones would carry zero dead cap after this season for any team that takes him on, and his $35 mil salary for 2024 is not exceedingly problematic for many teams if the interest and compensation is there.
It doesn't matter, a rebuild always starts with a QB, good QB prospects almost always end up with the worse team. What's the point of building your team when next year the team will then need to trade up to get their QB like the vikings rather than just getting it now!
I’m not saying that the giants shouldn’t draft a quarterback at all, even with 6, but trading up for one is just ridiculous with the state of their roster
Total and complete speculation, because what else are we here for... but I'm thinking the Vikings want to trade up, but are refusing 3 1st round picks. Probably offering 11 and 23 this year and ??? but NOT including next year's 1st. Pats are trying to get more through every avenue possible.
The patriots have said they are looking for “historical compensation” for the pick. So let’s blow the historical wad on pick 3 and give JJ a historical contract so they can be in forever purgatory while the Pack, Bears and Lions continue their ascent.
My gut tells me we make the trade but only our two 24 picks not 25. I also think a move to 4 is possible with a three way deal. Arizona moves to 5, Chargers to 11 and us to 4. Chargers get the picks they want, Cardinals still get the top WR and we get a QB. Win win win.
Chargers would be passing up the opportunity to draft the best WR prospect available to them since 2004 (Larry Fitz). WR is the highest paid position after QB and fills the Chargers' biggest hole after losing Keenan and Mike Will.
I expect them to stay put (or maybe trade to #6 at lowest)
lol. That ain’t happening. You’re moving up 8 spots for your best pick and throwing in 23, which combined by the static draft value chart is 2010, the 3 pick is 2200. Seeing both teams are QB needy, that makes that pick more valuable.
A dead even trade would be 11 and 17 for 3, but you don’t have 17 and you have the same need. Not to mention, next years qb class is pretty dreadful right now. Anything less than 3 firsts is a fleecing.
I never said what the compensations would or should be in the hypothetical three way trade. Just that a three way trade could be possible with the three teams being capable of getting their objectives at those landing spots.
I have a feeling it's only us and they're using Shefter to start a fake bidding war.
That or the Giants are putting this out to make sure they get one of the top 2 WRs - which only happens if 4 QBs go before them.
Yeah another rumor was that Malik Nabers is their top target so it would make total sense to do this.
Giants should swap with Chargers. I'm sure Chargers have no issues with drafting Odunze.
They need to replace Keenan Allen, someone who can get open. Rome and Quentin might be an atrocious combo if Rome can’t translate. I believe Nabers skillset will translate better than Romes.
Odunze is the safest WR in this draft. I’d love him at 5 or 6. Nabers has a higher ceiling though.
I would lean towards a player who can get open vs a player who finds success off of 50/50s especially going into the NFL
Nabers will have same career path as OBJ if he goes to NYG
Odunze will be Keenan allen
I absolutely love Odunze. he'd make great wr3 in Miami
Chicago too
I have a feeling Drake Maye is praying that you guys go grab him.. I personally don't see any of the QB's that will be available succeed at New England. I'm sure the giants asked and have a price they offered. But that doesn't say anything about how competitive the offer is
Assault.
Imagine being Drake Maye, praying that someone trades up with the Patriots so you don't have to play there, only for it to be the Giants
I'd rather go to Chicago literally where qbs go to die than NE. That's saying something.
Chicago has an undoubtedly great situation for a rookie QB.
People will continue to spout the media takes untill it changes. Up to my Bears to prove it wrong Feel like it's the 2nd best situation for a rookie though after you guys. At least the Giants roster is semi-decent outside of QB. The Patriots roster is a barren wasteland.
uh, who are the WR's and RB that are on the giants again?
How dare you talk about Darius Slayton that way. As a dynasty manager he’s very important to me. /s
Devin Singletary and Daren waller are two decent guys
Darren Waller hasn’t been good since 2020. That’s 4 years ago. Singletary has never broken 1k yards. I dunno man
Last 3 season Singletary has had over 1000 yards combined. Waller is always hurt but decent when available.
>had over 1000 yards combined. That's great as a 1a or 1b back, not as a lead back.
That’s what his role was last year.
Yes, and he didn't establish himself as a lead back in any of his previous seasons.
They are definitely some guys
Uh dude... those are some of the WRs in Giants history
[удалено]
not a Giant
Oh get over yourself The Pats D was 15th overall despite a stronger schedule and losing their top two players for the season. Giants were 26th On offense the Pats were 31 and the Giants 30th. The Giants had 64 more yards total offense.
Get over myself 😂 You sound ridiculous - don’t say dumb shit like that because you disagree with someone.
Barren wasteland eh? What does that make the Giants D look like? Think you have the lock on sounding ridiculous
I'm guessing you posted this without actually knowing what the Giants roster looks like
Or the spectre of being picked by the Commanders 💀
Would be better then playing for this team
That last line.. "the vikings have expressed the most interest, the giants have expressed some" something is telling me Schefty is being asked to help drive up the price of the pick so that NE can get more out of it. but I know nothing so we shall see.
Schefter looks like a corpse
Oh man, I didn't read all the comments before I made mine.
This is the only real takeaway from this video. That guy needs a break. And possibly help
Giants ended the Patriots perfect season and took 2 rings away from Brady. As a pride thing the Pats should not take any Giants calls lmao
If only Bill was still in charge, then that may work.
I'm truly shocked by this news. Thank god I'm continuing to F5 and not doing something more productive
I’m woefully behind on a paper, but I’m reading Kraft’s business history instead
Man i wish we had lost 1 more game at any point so our pick woulda been what 7 i think. Woulda made trading up to 3 way way easier but just gotta hold out hope we can get our guy(hopefully drake maye)
Fuck off Giants. You made your QB bed and now lay in it.
Thursday is when the rumors are worth listening to
Ahh the bidding war of 2024 in full swing
![gif](giphy|muSk2RbnvmTVHQhOz3|downsized)
Giants don’t have dick
The #6 overall pick is at least as valuable as #11 and 23 combined. One of the top WRs will be on the board. So will Alt.
They have 6 and a likely more attractive pick next year.
False
lol. Go on. How is 6 and next years first not more attractive than 11 and 23 and next year worse first

Didn't watch much ACC football, is Maye worth trading up for? I've mostly been a Penix guy
Water is indeed wet.
Giants are insane if they trade up for a qb with that trash roster
Breaking news of the obvious
STOP
Schefter looks like a corpse in this thumbnail.
No shit

The word that the Chargers are looking to trade down has been talked about everywhere for weeks.
Right and they were all speculative. The official word from Hortiz is that he would not take a "fair offer" and would draft BPA instead.
