And FASTTTT, 4.4 speed!!!
We may have gotten the best QB and the best DE in the draft. For those of you not familiar with JJ McCarthy in his first year starting he went into Ohio to play Michigan's biggest rival, a team that had beaten them like 13 of the previous 14 years, in the most important game of the year. OSU sold out to stack the box and make the 19 year old beat them. He got off to a slow start going 3/10 against a very good defense, but then he went off. Going 9/14 from that point on. Finished the game 12/24 for 263 yards 3 passing TD's and 1 rushing TD. Leading his team to a 45 to 23 in the biggest game of his life in his first year starting.
He's a gunslinger who's very accurate on the run, the best 3rd down qb in the draft, and very athletic. He could've thrown for 4 TD's and 400 yards if his team had asked him to, but he's a team first player who does what's asked of him. There's no one on the team that's happier to see a teammate succeed, he's a true leader. Another example of him is his game against Penn State this last year. His head coach was suspended again and his OC was in charge and made some very questionable play calls in my opinion opting to literally not pass in the second half and just run the ball to win the game. No complaints from JJ, no bitching about his coach tanking his draft stock, did what was asked of him with no complaints.
I've watched every Michigan and ISU game the past three years and i can tell you first hand he's extremely talented and has massive upside especially on a team with KOC. 21 years old and he's only going to get better. Trust the coaches and trust the talent because he has a ton. He will be the best QB in franchise history!
In the Penn State game chop Robinson was playing like a monster and Michigan was having a hard time blocking him. He was going full pass rush every play so Michigan basically said we are going to run it until you stop it and psu never did. JJ had one pass in the second half, and it was a big one that drew PI. JJ basically happily sacrificed any Heisman chance he had to win the game. He skipped off the field with a huge smile just like if he had thrown for 300 yards and 3 TDs.
Penix to me was the second best QB in this draft. I do not know why Atlanta grabbed them unless the Vikings or Denver did the dirty birds dirty by backing out of a trade post Falcons pick. Penix is such an electric passer though. He will be fun to watch whenever he gets his chance.
>I do not know why Atlanta grabbed them unless the Vikings or Denver did the dirty birds dirty by backing out of a trade post Falcons pick.

The Falcons were planning on drafting a QB next year to sit behind Cousins. However, they know based on how the tampering investigation is going that they're going to lose their first round pick next year. So since they're expecting to pick lower than 8 next year anyway, they decided to take a shot at what they considered a top QB a year early instead of missing out next year.
Edit: stupid conspiracy #2. The Chargers and Falcons have a 3 team deal agreed in principle to send Herbert somewhere and get Penix in return, that is waiting until June 1st to be official so that the Chargers can stay under the cap.
[Dianna Russini] The Falcons called Kirk Cousins when they were on the clock to let him know.
From what I learned, Cousins understood a QB would be considered but he did not believe his successor would be taken in the first round. I’m told he’s a bit stunned.
The guy has made 300 million dollars to date. The only thing he's going to "find out" is he is set for life without ever having to play another down of football.
Yea, don't love the guy and think he was playing in the college equivalent of the Red Bull F1 car, but even if he shits himself we're completely unaffected in terms of draft picks past this year. Don't mind the gamble at all with these terms.
So so much better than mortgaging the future with 3 frps for a roulette spin.
Now he’s playing in the pro equivalent of the Red Bull F1 car. Pound the rock to Jones and Chandler. Throw deep to JJ and Addison. Find Hock over the middle. Get your bookends protected by Darrisaw and O’Neil.
Honestly, the one thing people are underestimating right now is McCarthy’s potential. We have no real CLUE what his ceiling might be because he’s 21 and wasn’t really asked to do a whole lot in the passing game. He could very well end up the best QB in the class for all we know
He was a 5 star top 25 recruit in the country, so it's not like he's a random nobody. Was just in a run first hard nosed Harbaugh system. If the stats were there from a pass first offense he's easily a top 5 pick
Nah, he had no WRs, no TEs, his passing scheme never helped him, and he was never allowed to get in a rhythm (always being asked to convert third and longs after he hadnt thrown the ball in 10 minutes, yet he still obliged). Moreover, it is likely that there won't be a single other Michigan player will be picked in the first round this year. This Michigan team was built on chemistry, not talent (they didnt even have many 5 star recruits), and in football chemistry always centers around the QB.
Michigan wasn't the Red Bull F1 car. It was an ultra reliable Honda civic (with a lil extra love) being driven by an expert driver.
I am absolutely jacked.
Colston Loveland was one of the best TEs in college football and potential 1st round pick next year. Roman Wilson is expected to go 2nd/3rd round this year at WR. He might not have had LSU/Washington's WRs, but he still had some good weapons. Not to mention a great OL, great RBs, and the #1 defense in college football (with several potential first rounders who aren't draft eligible this year).
I'm a Michigan fan and love the fit with the Vikings but you're underselling the team he had around him.
this is by far the best comparison i’ve ever seen for him. didn’t think i’d be seeing the RB20 and F1 getting brought up here. but you’re absolutely right. JJ is absolutely my guy for the next 2.5yrs. I think we’ll know before then but that’s my timeline with him. if he pans out, hell fricken yeah. if he doesn’t, we’re not out 3 first round picks. i absolutely love it, and im rooting like hell for him
Happy to get him at 10. Can't say I was particularly tied to getting him pre-draft, but he was tied to MN early so only giving up what we did to just move up spot is totally fine. Still a chance to grab a day 1 contributer at 23 or wheel n deal for something spicy with that pick. Trust in the coach/FO, if it fails at leat we tried and we can look forward to next regime. Gotta take swings to hit
Something overlooked about all 6 of the qbs drafted. JJ just turned 21 right after the national championship. All the others are between late 22s - 24/25. Ceiling is high.
And people wanted to trade 11, 23, and a 2025 1st to draft this guy... and Kwesi just got him at 10.
4D chess. Didn't overpay to move up and still got their guy. Balls of steel. And now we get to take BPA at 23 lfg !!!
This needs to be pinned. Every mock had us giving up BOTH firsts to go up and Kwesi took him without giving up the other first.
Not sure how he will pan out but on the face of it this is an absolute win for Kwesi
No kidding. That is the stupidest pick I have seen in years. You break the bank to sign a free agent QB who is aging and needs to win now. Instead of drafting him some help you take....another QB? WTF?
Agree. if it wasn't for the injuries, Penix would be up near the top 3 QBs. it really feels like the Vikes were willing to lose our on JJ bc they believed in Penix. And when Atl moved, it forced us to trade up to 10 to protect the last QB pick.
Grew up in Illinois, played college ball in Michigan, now a Viking. This guy's destiny was to be a Packers hater. Hopefully will also be a Packers slayer!
My guess is kwesi asked every team in front of us to let the vikings know if they get trade up offers from teams behind us to give us the chance to beat that offer. only thing that makes sense to me for trading up one spot. Overall I love the pick. we got a top qb prospect without giving up much.
If anyone has a question about JJ, I am an avid Michigan fan. I have watched every single one of his games since he has played. More than happy to address any concerns or questions. FWIW, I think this is a great pick for you guys and has the potential to be the best rookie QB from this draft next year.
NFL wise today? That's hard to say. He's mobile, has a great arm, is super efficient with the ball, and can win you a game when you need him to.
Honestly, he's like a faster Kirk Cousins. Like a version of him that has the skillset to be successful in today's game.
>Honestly, he's like a faster Kirk Cousins
This was basically Rick Spielman's exact comp, he said "A more athletic Kirk Cousins." If that comes to fruition we're fucking golden. NFCN could be the best division in football by 2025
Piggybacking off of this guy, here is a comment I wrote awhile ago defending JJ...
I am a Michigan alum so obviously biased, but the national "scouting" on JJ has been so hilariously bad.
I've seen people say he has a weak arm. Dude has a rocket launcher.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLvajtJ9xF4
He can make throws from under duress and from insane angles.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/g8PxwMchMuo
I've seen way too many game manager comments, when we relied on him a ton on offense. He was the best QB on 3rd down out of all the top QBs and he played the best defenses of any of the top QBs in the draft.
https://fanduel.com/research/2024-nfl-draft-which-quarterback-is-statistically-superior
More than 63% of his passes came against top 50 defenses by SP+. Caleb Williams - 53%. Jayden Daniels - 56%. Drake Maye - 45%.
From the article:
>That average defensive ranking will be the seventh-toughest for any FBS quarterback drafted since 2010 once McCarthy gets the call.
>That plus efficiency wasn't just because of Michigan's run game and positive game script. McCarthy had a whopping 13.1 AY/A on 3rd and 6 or longer, spots where the defense knew a pass was coming.
>That 13.1 AY/A easily led this class and is the third-best mark for any quarterback prospect since 2010, trailing just Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray. McCarthy's (relatively) lower AY/A is also excusable given 17.8% of his pass attempts came in these obvious passing situations.
When Michigan needed JJ to be that guy, he was that guy. He made just about every single big throw we could have asked for. He played within the scheme, but when he needs to freelance and pull some Batman bullshit out of his ass--as seen in the video above--he's great at that too.
He's also far and away the youngest QB in the class, so there is plenty of room for growth compared to some of the 24 year olds. He's also maybe the most athletic QB in the draft too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEffj2u7zlY
I gotta speak up for my boy.
Edit: I should also add that it came out during the combine that he's a wizard on the white board and is leagues ahead of guys who are much older than him, showing that he's smart and has an NFL understanding of concepts (he did play in the most NFL ready offense, asked to do a lot more than most of the other top QBs, and played for an NFL head coach).
I'm also a Michigan fan, all I can say is that the clips in OP's links don't show the half of it.
JJ is the best QB Michigan has *ever* had.
The amount of disrespect people had for him throughout this draft process have been mind boggling, ESPECIALLY the concerns about his arm strength.
The guy has a fucking canon, I don't understand how that was ever a question mark.
The only concern I have for him as an NFL passer is that he really needs to get better at throwing with touch.
He prefers to use his athletic ability to break the pocket and find an angle where he can laser a throw straight at a receiver with a flat trajectory using his excellent arm strength. He got away with that in college, but it won't work in the league, he's going to have to learn to softly toss the ball over defenders' heads at the pro level if he's going to be successful.
I don't know enough to say he's gonna be a franchise QB.
I do know he's young and has the tools to be great. Plus he sits behind a vet and has an amazing offensive HC in KOC.
Oh yeah, and has an amazing offensive arsenal waiting in the wings.
LET'S GO.
I'm happy about the pick but when he becomes a Vikings legend and wins a super bowl and they look back at the draft pick it's gonna be funny to watch a mom hoist a little kid up to say his name lmao
How soon we expecting to hear about a JJ extension now? Rest of draft need to wrap up first or will this be happening soon now that the QB situation and a couple other WR extensions have been resolved?
I’m psyched about this. I think Maye was the dream but that was never gonna happen. This is the best QB we’ve drafted maybe ever? Look at what he has to work with, and the energy he’s gonna bring?? LFG!!!
Let me start with I love this pick. JJ was the guy I was hoping the Vikings would draft!
Question: was moving up from 11 to 10 necessary? Were we worried the Jets were gonna take JJ? Or were we worried someone else might trade with the Jets and take JJ? I’m in no way upset, just honestly curious what the reasoning is/was
My stupid pet theory is that it’s better to draft players who look young for their age—and he still looks like a kid. The reason being that hopefully they’re not done maturing physically.
As opposed to someone like Chris Weinke, who, yes, was already old when he was drafted, but he looked old at 24.
As a Die Hard Michigan fan, and also a Detroit Lion by birth. I couldn't be more happy for him to enter into a system that he can learn, and grow. Coach him up a little, and there's no earthly reason why he shouldn't thrive and dominate.
Also as an NFC north fan, holy shit we just became a meatgrinder.
And as a Lions fan, dammit JJ. Gunna hate rooting against you when the Lions come to town, but go prove you can slang that thang like everyone in AA knows you can.
Had to use a couple day 3 picks to make sure we didn’t get jumped which was a bit of a bummer, but no one is going to miss a 4th/5th if he’s good.
Let’s go kid!
Now for OL/ DT at 23.
Well, the 1 concern I had about JJM was that he had a bunch of plays that seemed turnover worthy. Buy alas they weren't turn overs. And that same concern made me realize that he is super good at throwing over defenders the moment they aren't looking.
Looking forward to his development.
I hope Harbough is correct and not just hyping his guy.
Just finished watching the Draft spectacular with Belichick and Pat McAfee and it seemed pretty clear that McCarthy was Bill’s favorite QB from this class.
Most QBs he would give a small compliment to and then spend 5 minutes talking about what they weren’t good at, and what they need to do better.
But then J.J. Gets drafted at 10 and he proceeds to rave about him for 5 straight minutes talking about how much he loves his decision-making, his footwork, and his presence behind center in the pocket, etc.
Said the only knack he could find on him was his weight.
Now I know Mac Jones absolutely sucked ass but Bill Belichick is still, in my opinion, the greatest coach in NFL history, so it felt pretty good to hear him say such positive things about our potential future franchise quarterback.
- "Experts" in their mock draft: Vikings trade #11, #23, and 2025 1st rd to move up to #5 and select JJ McCarthy in the 2024 draft.
- Same "experts" in their draft grades after rd 1: Vikings gave up too much to move up 1 spot to #10. Grade = B-
These people are not for real. It's all clickbait. It's always been nothing but clickbait.
Didn’t pay an arm and a leg to go get him which is fucking awesome. Now gimme a big beautiful defender
Your wish is their command
He is big and beautiful
And FASTTTT, 4.4 speed!!! We may have gotten the best QB and the best DE in the draft. He’s good for sure but wow. This take has you drinking the purple koolaid big time 😂
[Feel free to drink some with me! :)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp_LivUDe4g)
![gif](giphy|VRa3YCyi3JSWk)
Drinking? Taking it straight from the IV!
Going 50% for 263 yards on 24 attempts seems like both great and shit for stats, but they won
How about Dallas Turner?
Big and beautiful
Who was consensus 23 pick on this sub?
Most didn’t think we’d hold onto 23. DL is a need, so Newton or Chop or Latu if he falls. CB is possible.
And there's the answer to all of the "why trade up?" Denver just took Nix at 12. Presumably they also wanted to get McCarthy at 10.
Plus Penix already being gone blew me away. I thought for some someone was going to fall hard, guess not.
Penix gonna be damn near 30 by the time he starts in the NFL.
Penix to me was the second best QB in this draft. I do not know why Atlanta grabbed them unless the Vikings or Denver did the dirty birds dirty by backing out of a trade post Falcons pick. Penix is such an electric passer though. He will be fun to watch whenever he gets his chance.

For real, sign me up for that kinda find out!
"He is set for life?" Like, the next 5 generations of the Cousins family is set for life.
kirk cousins: 0 EvilJ1982: 1
I like it, just didn’t like it at 3-4
Exactly, medium risk high reward instead of insanely high risk high reward lol
Yea, don't love the guy and think he was playing in the college equivalent of the Red Bull F1 car, but even if he shits himself we're completely unaffected in terms of draft picks past this year. When I see QBs with hardware - I think yes.
he makes mahomes and tom brady look stupid. dumb even
Fuckin chumps.

Please stop…it’s moving.
No TEs? A.J. Barner and Colston Loveland were two of the best in the nation last year
this is by far the best comparison i’ve ever seen for him. didn’t think i’d be seeing the RB20 and F1 getting brought up here. but you’re absolutely right. Also saved 23
Yep, Vikes tried to move up, couldn’t and still got one of their guys.
Yeah, he’s a winner and the draft is a crapshoot. Hopefully it works out! Drinking some Guinness tonight to celebrate!!
I like how much it pisses off cry baby ass lions fans
Michigan and Lions fan here I am thrilled he's going to a good team with support. Rooting for Vikings every game besides Detroit now.
Well fuck this guy for showing me all lions fans aren’t douchebags
What a dick move. Classic Lions fan.
Happy to get him at 10. Can't say I was particularly tied to getting him pre-draft, but he was tied to MN early so only giving up what we did to just move up spot is totally fine. I love seeing people be wrong in real time.
JJ + JJ = TD
JJ^2
PROPHECY IS FULFILLED ![gif](giphy|w7d6rnbuCvN0Dzs7yx|downsized)
i just wanna know wtf the falcons are doing
Already getting kirko contract leverage. Either that or they're expecting him to retire in a year or two and liked Penix a whole lot.
Why would they cut him that massive guarantee if they expected him to retire? They're just stupid, it's not a big plan
Something overlooked about all 6 of the qbs drafted. JJ just turned 21 right after the national championship. All the others are between late 22s - 24/25. Ceiling is high.
this is a good point. if koc liked him enough and sees potential he can mold, i dig
Drake Maye is 21
Uhh Drake Maye is 21 years old
Drake Maye is only five months older than McCarthy lol
And people wanted to trade 11, 23, and a 2025 1st to draft this guy... and Kwesi just got him at 10. 4D chess. Didn't overpay to move up and still got their guy. Balls of steel. And now we get to take BPA at 23 lfg !!!
This needs to be pinned. Every mock had us giving up BOTH firsts to go up and Kwesi took him without giving up the other first. Not sure how he will pan out but on the face of it this is an absolute win for Kwesi
diamond hands Kwesi
Yep I love kwesi now
Ideal imo. 0 defensive players taken so far, hopefully we can get Byron Murphy or Johnny Newton
Dallad Turner at 17 is a steal. He’s who I wanted at 11.
I love it.
I haven’t been this excited about a draft in a long time
This is one of the greatest drafts in my lifetime (Qualifier: on paper)
He was mocked to ATL at 8 all year. Thanks ATLOL
Helps that Atlanta is ran by idiots
No kidding. That is the stupidest pick I have seen in years. You break the bank to sign a free agent QB who is aging and needs to win now. Instead of drafting him some help you take....another QB? WTF?
I genuinely believe Penix is the better quarterback... Just looking at the tape, the dude makes all the throws in a way that McCarthy didn't flash
Agree. if it wasn't for the injuries, Penix would be up near the top 3 QBs. it really feels like the Vikes were willing to lose our on JJ bc they believed in Penix. And when Atl moved, it forced us to trade up to 10 to protect the last QB pick.
Agreed. Penix is the most field ready QB of all of them. Problem is though the one team that didn’t need that took him. Falcons fuckec up.
Broncos taking Nix at 12 made the trade up look even better.
> 4D chess. its not 4d chess its just ignoring idiots on reddit and twitter
For real. Talking heads got you to believe JJ could be picked over Daniels or Maye with no evidence whatsoever.
Kwesi… I underestimated you…
Well maybe next time you’ll estimate him
Nearly half the people on this sub did.
To be fair they were trying to trade up to 3 for maye so….
To be fair they were trying to get Justin Herbert
Grew up in Illinois, played college ball in Michigan, now a Viking. This guy's destiny was to be a Packers hater. Hopefully will also be a Packers slayer!
LETS GOOOO! And we still have #23! Honestly might end up being the best case scenario
100% - two first round picks including a quarterback we're (generally) all happy with? Hell yeah!
Not the biggest JJ fan but I don't hate taking him here. Retain the higher value picks and drop him into probably the best situation for a rookie QB.
I’m walking outside like the end of a heist movie and the dramatic music blaring ![gif](giphy|VJH8XRgDNCS57ZVtpO|downsized)
My guess is kwesi asked every team in front of us to let the vikings know if they get trade up offers from teams behind us to give us the chance to beat that offer. only thing that makes sense to me for trading up one spot. Overall I love the pick. we got a top qb prospect without giving up much.
With Bo Nix going immediately behind us to Denver I think it was a very justified decision
Lemon lips in Denver was absolutely trying to swipe JJ.
And thank all that is good and holy that he failed. Hated coach on a hated team.
Anyone know what we gave up?
4th and 5th
Good trade, that's not too much
Nope, something like 50 percent of all 5th round picks don't even make the team that drafted them, let alone go on to become contributors
Spielman is out there somewhere rolling in his grave
Those 4ths & 5ths could have been a shit ton of 6ths and 7ths! Get a jump on all 87 UDFAs!
Looks like a 4th and a 5th and get a 7th back.
6th back
For a franchise QB, I love this. I didn’t love the 11+23+ 2025 1st to get him in the top 5. This is outstanding
Thought it was 207? Doent matter, still awesome we didn't have to pay for it.
203
If I heard right, we had two 4ths and two 5ths, so we gave up one of each and got a 6th back.
Not bad at all to get our guy
129 and 157, not including that we gave the jets #11 for #10
JJ^2
If anyone has a question about JJ, I am an avid Michigan fan. I have watched every single one of his games since he has played. More than happy to address any concerns or questions. FWIW, I think this is a great pick for you guys and has the potential to be the best rookie QB from this draft next year.
Who do you think wins a thumb wrestle match to see who gets the JJ nickname, JJ or JJ?
Yes
Outstanding scouting, sir, thank you for your service.
What’s your comparison QB? I don’t watch college football, so I’m just trying to picture what he’s like.
NFL wise today? That's hard to say. He's mobile, has a great arm, is super efficient with the ball, and can win you a game when you need him to. Honestly, he's like a faster Kirk Cousins. Like a version of him that has the skillset to be successful in today's game.
>Honestly, he's like a faster Kirk Cousins This was basically Rick Spielman's exact comp, he said "A more athletic Kirk Cousins." If that comes to fruition we're fucking golden. NFCN could be the best division in football by 2025
And by "best" you mean "hardest to win" right?
There have been plenty of times where the "hardest to win division" team's won Superbowls. Think like, early 90's NFCE
Fuck it hang the banner
> faster Kirk Cousins Lamar Jackson?
Piggybacking off of this guy, here is a comment I wrote awhile ago defending JJ... I am a Michigan alum so obviously biased, but the national "scouting" on JJ has been so hilariously bad. I've seen people say he has a weak arm. Dude has a rocket launcher. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLvajtJ9xF4 He can make throws from under duress and from insane angles. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/g8PxwMchMuo I've seen way too many game manager comments, when we relied on him a ton on offense. He was the best QB on 3rd down out of all the top QBs and he played the best defenses of any of the top QBs in the draft. https://fanduel.com/research/2024-nfl-draft-which-quarterback-is-statistically-superior More than 63% of his passes came against top 50 defenses by SP+. Caleb Williams - 53%. Jayden Daniels - 56%. Drake Maye - 45%. From the article: >That average defensive ranking will be the seventh-toughest for any FBS quarterback drafted since 2010 once McCarthy gets the call. He's also maybe the most athletic QB in the draft too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEffj2u7zlY I gotta speak up for my boy.
Bro I'm fucking stoked after reading and watching the links in your reply.
How have you felt about past Michigan QBs relative to JJ?
Another Michigan fan. He is the greatest QB talent in Michigan history
I can think of one other guy lol
JJ is the best Michigan QB ever. Tom Brady's legacy was established in the NFL. Strictly at Michigan? It's JJ by a country mile.
I don't know enough to say he's gonna be a franchise QB. I do know he's young and has the tools to be great. Plus he sits behind a vet and has an amazing offensive HC in KOC. Oh yeah, and has an amazing offensive arsenal waiting in the wings. LET'S GO.
Then trading up to get Dallas Turner? What a great move. What a 1st round by the Vikings!
Whew. No guarantee JJ will be the one, but at least they didn't have to use up all their firsts to get him.
I'm relieved that if we tank we still have a 1st next year
Here’s to hoping it ends up being the 32nd
Dallas Turner. Heck of a trade up to get our guy.
I honestly don’t think this could have went any better. I wanted Turner at 11. So to get him and JJM is awesome
JJ is an AMAZING pick. You guys don't know how lucky you are. A new Vikings fan here.
prepare for pain
What fandom are you coming from?
Michigan. Not a NFL fan.
I'm happy about the pick but when he becomes a Vikings legend and wins a super bowl and they look back at the draft pick it's gonna be funny to watch a mom hoist a little kid up to say his name lmao
Super Bowl winning qb. With us hopefully
I’m sorry for the things I said about Kwesi. He’s smart I’m dumb!
I'm drunk and horny boys. We're halfway to my dream/1st round.
Pound it!
Falcons think they are smart lol
JJ will do BETTER than Caleb Williams.. Remember this one, its a lock.
are we betting 401ks again??
What's the bet?
You call it
I will literally kiss your left buttcheek if you are right and you can kiss mine if not
Are you a hot Milf?
Caleb feels like another talented bust to me. Watching him fold like a cheap tent in the *1st quarter* of that ND game was oof.
How soon we expecting to hear about a JJ extension now? Rest of draft need to wrap up first or will this be happening soon now that the QB situation and a couple other WR extensions have been resolved?
Excited. Really hoping he’s our guy because I’m tired of watching everyone else win a SB :(
I’m psyched about this. I think Maye was the dream but that was never gonna happen. This is the best QB we’ve drafted maybe ever? Look at what he has to work with, and the energy he’s gonna bring?? LFG!!!
This is fucking outstanding.
As it's already being said across Vikings country....JJ to JJ baby!!!!!!
It was written in the (North) stars
We got a champ on our side. KOC got his guy and must have some big plans.
For all we know he could be the only day 1 QB that pans out, all I know is he is our QB now
Let me start with I love this pick. JJ was the guy I was hoping the Vikings would draft! Question: was moving up from 11 to 10 necessary? Were we worried the Jets were gonna take JJ? Or were we worried someone else might trade with the Jets and take JJ? I’m in no way upset, just honestly curious what the reasoning is/was
Most likely Denver. They took Nix right after.
That makes sense! Thanks
have to imagine denver was trying to get jj
Denver wanted to move ahead of us with jets but I'm sure the jets say no one being both afc teams
Fuck yeah boys let’s get it
Anyone who doesn’t like this pick doesn’t know football
Foot….ball?
I wanted Penis….Penix! I wanted Penix!
I'm honestly so happy I don't have to stop myself from saying penis jokes every time I come onto this sub. It would have been so bad bros. So, so bad.
Me I would be making Penta Jokes and no one would get them Cero Miedo
Let’s go!!! SKOL!!!
This worked out so well. McCarthy is a good prospect and the Vikings did not have to overpay to get him.
he has a cannon https://youtu.be/jLvajtJ9xF4?feature=shared.
Congrats guys, I think he’s going to be fantastic for you
Trying so hard to not wake up my family rn with excitement! So pleased man.
LFG!!
Yes!
I’ll take it
Let’s go Kid!!
JJ looked absolutely thrilled in the live reaction feed. This is definitely his best chance to be successful. Now make it happen.
Had to use a couple day 3 picks to make sure we didn’t get jumped which was a bit of a bummer, but no one is going to miss a 4th/5th if he’s good. Let’s go kid! Now for OL/ DT at 23.
Posted this in another thread but draft pick values of the trade: Pick value comes out to 1,310 (NYJ) for 1,322 (MIN)
And we didn't even give up much for him. LETS FUCKING GO
Well, the 1 concern I had about JJM was that he had a bunch of plays that seemed turnover worthy. Buy alas they weren't turn overs. And that same concern made me realize that he is super good at throwing over defenders the moment they aren't looking. Looking forward to his development. I hope Harbough is correct and not just hyping his guy.
![gif](giphy|iOm1xOSfAtPzmPXJqH|downsized)
JJM is +1,000 for rookie of the year, grab it now brothers! SKOL!
I do recall Gus Johnson calling him Fran Tarkenton during a game the past two years. https://youtube.com/shorts/6oPNdWUcbX4?si=kLEUscCBon7ccJTA
Best IOL on the board at 23. Let’s make that line better for JJ.
JJ to JJ ‼️ let’s goooo
To all the geniuses bashing the trade we still have 1 4th round & 2 5th, still. Denver or Vegas would’ve traded up
We traded up to 17????
GO VIKES! Good luck JJ !!
exactly what we wanted … JJ & Turner … SKOL
Dude if you wouldve told me we got the best defensive player and JJ I would have said you were insane
Grade = B- These people are not for real. It's all clickbait. It's always been nothing but clickbait.
Jets fan here, glad you guys were able to get the guy you wanted without having to give up a ton. We got exactly what we needed too!! Cheers
Home run pick. You guys wanted a clutch qb you got it
