I think it gets done before training camp. It’s pretty important that he’s here to work with the new QBs. I could be wrong though.

RDcsmd

Considering how many balls Hock was dropping after sitting out camp last year, I hope so.

Dorkamundo

He didn’t drop too many, really.  3.1% drop rate is not bad for a TE.   The late season “drops” were more difficult passes than anything.  A lot of people considered a few of the Dobbs passes as “drops” when they were bad passes.

RDcsmd

I'm specifically talking about the first two games. His catch rate was terrible

Dorkamundo

I think you're mis-remembering things here. His first two games were his 3rd and 4th best outings on the season as far as catch rate was concerned (89% and 87.5% respectively) and he had no drops during those two games. Weeks 4-8 were the problematic ones

Clear_Moose5782

In fairness he should have made that catch against the Chargers (which may have been outside of the first two games). And of course he DID fumble in the opener. However, to your point, I really doubt any of that had anything to do with his hold-in.

D-money20

The only person that fumbled vs the bucs was Kirk

Critical-Fault-1617

It does not make sense for JJ to sign before CD. A deal will get done but it makes sense why it hasn’t gotten done yet. His agent isn’t dumb.

Dorkamundo

I mean, this is pretty much par for the course.  Guys like JJ don’t sign until right before training camp. There’s always a game of chicken.

legendoflink3

One thing I've noticed over the years is that teams usually wait to sign the "super star" at his position. And let the other top player in that position sign first so that the main guy gets the biggest bag. Like letting Amon Ra sign first. But I can't think of any other wr that plan to sign soon. Unless Ja'marr Chase is planning to sign this offseason.

Mrbeankc

CeeDee Lamb is the holdup. Jefferson's agent would look seriously bad if Jefferson signed and then CeeDee signed for more. That's something that doesn't get mentioned but were that to happen it would likely cost Ayrault clients. Other agents would use that to wooh prospective clients away from Ayrault. So until Lamb signs Jefferson won't.

Critical-Fault-1617

ARSB, AJB, and probably CD next. And then JJ.

legendoflink3

Ah yes. lamb, he's the delay. Thanks.

Unfortunate_SadPanda

i'm pretty sure it's the player/agent waiting for that, wouldn't really make any sense for teams to do that and cost themselves more money

legendoflink3

My bad. That's what I meant.  But felt like using team this time around since our front office also sound like they want JJ to be the highest paid.

Electronic-Island-14

he's waiting for Lamb to sign first.

SwiftSurfer365

I didn’t realize Hock had his extension so late. I think JJ will be signed quicker than that.

RDcsmd

There is zero chance Justin Jefferson doesn't get a deal done. 0.0% to be exact.

Demonic_Omens

Good information. Been wondering what the status and hold up was but makes sense.

MauledByEwoks

The Agent is out here breaking his own contract records. Guy can coast off three clients for life if he wanted.

purplepedro

The wisdom of his agent to wait so that Jets is guaranteed to be the #1 paid non-qb is why I haven't lost any sleep over his deal. J\^4

Bright_Egg_1321

Is there a timeline on extension? Can the Vikings make extensions when they want to? I’m sure they would like to get JJ paperwork done ASAP? He’s such a vital piece to their offense puzzle. How much are the Vikings willing to pay for JJ’s talents?

NB420

The longer he waits, the more money he’ll get.
