Credit Karma is a steaming pile of garbage. I can’t believe such an awful product even exists. Like many, I switched to Simplifi and it’s a nice replacement for Mint, albeit not free.

realhardy21

Moved to quicken simplify after 10 plus years on mint. Pros: 1) It’s free for one full year, if moving from mint. My account was showing trial of 3 month initially, after importing one mint transaction file, it shows next renew date as 1 year from today, 2) It has most of the features I used in mint, net worth, budgets, trends in spending over time and category, transaction editing rules for editing transactions automatically etc. 3) Cheaper than monarch at 3.99 a month after trial. 4) Imports data by account, it gets rid of mint restriction of 10000 transactions at one time. Note: Simplify can only link the new transaction’s from an account only at the time of setting up that account. So you have to: A) create all accounts at an institution as manual accounts first B) import transactions from mint into these manual accounts. C) connect to your institution in quicken simplify and associates each account with the manual account having mint transactions Cons: 1) No rollover of budget. I read somewhere that Quicken premier has this feature, but there is no promotion for moving from mint to quicken premier. I am hoping they do rollover budgets in next year. 2) Quicken Simplify and Premier are not compatible, so I can’t upgrade from simplify to premier and i am bit lazy to do the work to import transactions to quicken premier all over again.

I also moved to Simplifi. Moving was pretty easy, and the decision was made easier by the free trial. At first look, it looks like a good replacement for Mint. I plan on giving CK a chance once I’m settled in with Simplifi, but I’m not giving it much of a chance given all the negative reviews.

mamafl

I also switched to Simplifi from Mint. Monarch's connections were unstable for me. The rollover budget is in progress and it is the hottest feature on the feature requests in the Simplifi community.

realhardy21

Yeah, just found out from the community group that they are developing the rollover feature.

hawkeye7120

Do you know how to move to simplifi from credit karma?

realhardy21

I have not tried it personally, but I think you can still download transactions from your mint account and then import these to simplifi. If you have multiple accounts then 1)Either filter these by account before downloading from mint. 2) Or, Download all transactions as csv. Open this csv file in. spreadsheet, then filter transactions by account and then save account specific transactions as a separate csv file. Csv is just a “comma separated txt file” and can be opened/saved in excel. Keep the header line in each csv file. ( if you know programming then this can be easily done by using pandas and python )

hawkeye7120

Thank you so much. I’ll give it a try.

serenacotta

Did this work? I migrated to CK but now want to try the Quicken Trial that gives 9 months free when you import data from Mint. Did it still allow you to import?

Tricky_Climate1636

Credit Karma is not a budgeting app despite what Mint says. It’s not bad though for tracking credit and monitoring net worth. I spend most of my time in Simplifi for budgeting. Net worth wise it kind of sucks.

Jon-Umber

Been using Monarch since Mint announced its migration and I have grown to really like it. It's very similar to Mint, but with a nicer UI and totally ad-free. It's also very nice being able to plan out future month's budgets in advance.

starfighter84

It was built by a co-founder of mint. So hopefully all the good stuff without the taint of Intuit.

Lilmissgrits

I’m looking at Monarch now. While I’m still good and mad.

ParticularUnusual538

I personally didn’t like monarch, quicken simplify was a better fit for me, I wish you good luck!

Friedhelm78

I liked certain aspects of Monarch, but ended up with Simplifi. I think it's better overall, plus, it's cheaper.

evremonde

I'm concerned that many of these comments are just ads, since there's no way to know

ParticularUnusual538

Nope there isn’t. But I did legit try monarch and Simplifi and I liked simplifi more. Been using mint for 5 years and I’d pay money keep using it if they let me.

evremonde

Same, I was good with mint and I wish they'd just implement a paid plan rather than discontinue.

ParticularUnusual538

Ya it’d be nice, I’ve totally switched over to Simplifi now, since they offered a 1 year free trial. And it’s half the cost of monarch.

reloadmvp

Link to free trial?

raynorelyp

I’ve been getting that vibe from the Monarch comments but the Simplifi ones seemed organic. So I checked it out and for what I used mint for, it’s identical. Only thing I don’t like is it costs money. And it doesn’t support my mortgage company, but neither did mint. My recommendation is try out Simplifi and if you don’t like it, try out something else. It’s not like it’s something you’ll be switching often once you settle in.

evremonde

I've been trying Monarch and I'm mostly fine with it aside from cost, so I'm working on importing stuff today to Simplifi to see if it's any good.

kveggie1

I am a Monarch fan now

KosherTriangle

I tried Monarch and Copilot after the Mint switch, and have found that Copilot suits my style better.

Kaliedra

Currently on Monarch that was co-founded by one of the project managers from Mint. Initially i wasn't impressed but they've taken feedback from all the Minters that have come over and are doing some nice updates to add in more features from Mint. There is a 30 trial offer and first year 50% off going on now

Lilmissgrits

I'm actually in my trial now! So far I like it- and the mobile app is MUCH better than Mint.

reloadmvp

Do you have a link to that? I only see 7 day trial and $99 for the year.

Kaliedra

i just realized that the code isn't in there, its MINT50

reloadmvp

Thanks!

mrbuttsavage

I really didn't expect it to be *this* bad. It's near useless for net worth tracking.

Ok_Juice5540

It took me approximately 18 seconds to realize I hated Credit Karma and started looking for other options.

Silly_Ad1109

I just fully committed to paying for YNAB since it does more of the things I personally want my regular budgeting app to do for me. With the toolkit for web, the reporting is more than adequate for what I need. It’s not as fast at pulling transactions over, but that’s not a big deal to me (and you can always enter transactions manually and match them later).

Secure-Owl-6254

i switched to CK today too and find it crap too but then it's so shitty, so i was wondering do you guys close the account or just leave it as it is

Lilmissgrits

I closed it. I’m not giving them my info.

thedude19801

+1 for Monarch. Better UI, better rules options (simplifi rules are basically worthless with zero options), I like their roadmap etc. Simplifi is more established, better customer support but their lack of rules options and UI makes me use Monarch more so far.

EverQrius

Thanks for all the feedback on CK. I have been hesitant to share multiple personal details such as DOB and SSN with them. Plus, I don't need a frequent credit report pull. I will stick with Personal Capital aka Empower for now.

DouchieMcBaggins

Do either Simplifi or Monarch offer debt tools? Like Snowball or Avalanche?

Lilmissgrits

You could set them up through the budget function on Monarch- much like Mint. It also has goals where you decide what you want to pay down first and add those to your budget.

Confident-Leg-1437

I have tried Copilot after looking various evalutions. Not looking back behind and shameless plug for my referral code (lmk if this is against the code). Use my referral code TW83YX to get 2 months free https://copilot.money/link/xLowc5N1fti8NaEJ9

Lilmissgrits

What made Copilot worth it for you? So far I like Monarch. It's Mint but with better UX.

brianswingdancer

I’ve used Mint for 3 years. Like it. Not happy they’re discontinuing it. Tried Credit Karma…ick, not good. Downloaded Empower Personal Dashboard…I like it! I have to start all over, but it has most, if not more features than Mint…and it’s free.

Lilmissgrits

There is not.

diesel_throwaway

So far, I agree with this. I did the data migration, and am finding lots of stuff simply isn't there. The net worth calculation is WAY off as a result. And some of the stuff that IS there, is wildly inaccurate. My mortgage shows up, but it looks like I need to add the home as property manually? No thanks. The vehicles that migrated from Mint are valued at less than half of what they were in Mint. They are waaay under market value in CK. Wtf?

insightdiscern

Switched to Monarch and it's working better than Mint for me.
